Yup I indeed have seen 70mph in second gear and my GPS also shows my speedo is spot on....
-
Sorry mate but I have SEEN 70mph on the clocks in second.... it was in the red though so totally pointless  Especially seeing as ideal change up point is 6k rpm's
-
Yeah thats what I thought - but to hit 70mph in 2nd gear you would be pretty much sitting on the red line?
-
Strange that... I have a swiss cheesed  rubber bit at top of mount (it might be two parts not checked properly)... and then a cylinder type bit under this that is quite long.... sounds to me as though its the wrong one
-
That 30-70mph time.... I assume thats done in 2nd gear without changing? :|
-
Cheers Kev 8) I ordered the mount from GSF... its a FEBI item - I assume it comes with both parts as its a seriously big looking beasty.... ??? Its the only mount they list for the VR6?

CLK 320 Elegance 2d Auto 3199/6 218bhp Top Speed 148 0-60 in 7.8secs
-
straight line? Yup... a 'decent ' VR6 will have it in straight line and corners - compare the 1/4 mile times.... :-P
-
 BTTT Bit quiet today init?
-
LOL - the VR6 will absolutely whip it!
-
Why anyone would want to replace their door mirrors that are the same as on TVR / McClaren F1 on their Corrado with inferior Porsche / Mazda ones is beyond me....
-
Got myself a new engine mount and thought about doing it whilst doing the suspension next week - whats the quickest way of replacing it? I assume I just need to undo the bolts and jack the engine up off it?
-
Nope... you will need to be insured by someone who specialises in them........
-
Most Corrados have around 100k miles on them now... imaho most 16V / VR6's require head rebuilds circa 100k miles... so its worth buying one that has already had the work done.... At the end of the day the youngest examples are now 8yrs old - its age that kills them rather than mileage... I would buy a sensibly priced corrado with circa 100k miles with a FSH and some reciepts to back up some overhaul work if I had to buy another...

Do the dis-assembling yourself and send the head to vince.... put it all back together yourself....
-
Even worse when youi have just washed and chamoised the car down... looking peachy then you drive to end of road and you can a lovely streak down door from the roof rails draining its water.... not too mention on the rear bumper too.... Does my head in that!
-
The fact you can drive the box normally with no crunch I would say either you have too much movement of engine / box.... if the synchro had gone on second it would crunch pretty much constantly... Its worth noting if shifting fast u can beat the syncho
-
PlusGas is alot more effective... Halfords sell yes? :-P
-
got everything except the 21mm swan spanner I think.... might even have one of them Cheers :D
-
should only need the 21mm swan neck spanner?
-
ALL VR6's suffer from piston slap to some extent....I wouldnt worry about it and it will go on forever (well nearly) like that...........
-
No idea mate - I still need to take mine out for the new stereo  I assume you have tried disconnecting the battery again? If you iinput the wrong code more than 3 times I think you have to get it un locked by Pug / Stereo place....
