  1. You would defo be better off taking it to a VW Specialist rather than main dealers... alot of people have had similar experiences... Sunroof motor can pick up from breakers yard.... Discs and Pads all round can be had from GSF for £150 (IMAHO £235 isnt THAT bad) Forget the Exhaust - rear quarter can be had from GSF for £100 or FULL aftermarket system for £300.... Full Service and Brake line is seriously heavy - my specialist does it for £140... 8)
  2. Just bought this.... http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_prod ... DEHP5600MP
  3. Make sure you check those bores and rings whilst the head is off for ovalisation!!
  4. Chris Knott did mine for £26 per year. You get a certificate...
  5. Henny: The mirror policy only works if you are the sole driver of both vehicles.... I tried this and the insurance wont allow it as the missus is covered on the Corrado so technically we could be using both cars at same time.... so was two seperate insurance policies for me
  6. Yeah would say 5000 left is probably about right...
  7. I run two cars... one for work - Pug 306 TD (which is great fun to drive IMHAO) and the VR6 obviously... It necessary for me as I do about 30k work miles per year as so would cost me loads in fuel if had to use the VR6... So with the savings I have made from buying the Pug for work with my mileage it actually works out cheaper for me (just) to run two cars like this rather than just the VR6 on its own... Put it this way if I used the VR6 for work it would cost me £80 per week in fuel plus maintenance and higher insurance.... the Pug costs me £35 - 40 per week in fuel so I save £40 per week.... thats £160 per month SAVING... the insurance is £40 per month.. tax £15 per month... so am down to a saving of roughly £100 per month... take away maintenance / MOT spends and I reckon I save £50 per month... not alot but there are obviously huge benefits of having two cars.... guess which car does the shopping and parks in dodgy areas? Fair enough I had to find the money to buy the car in first place but I will get some of that money back if I sell the car (I upgrade it every 12 months to keep the mileage sensible) but the advantages of running two cars seriously outweigh that factor.. The VR does get a blast every Friday to work though  - bit of a treat really... Also makes me appreciate the VR more as dont drive it all the time! So it really depends on what your work mileage is... if its low dont bother... if its over 50 / 60 miles per day then it may be beneficial... Cheers Scott.
  8. Now pushing 115kmiles and still tops out at over 150mph +
  9. Cheers to Kev Haywire again.... Top Guy!!
  10. I have a mate who runs the IPAQ with the navman jacket and he cant believe my Tom Tom 3 system can pick up the satellites in less than 60 secs... his Navman takes ages!!!
  11. My mates storm with aircon (a rare find indeed) DOES lose power when its switched on....
  12. Thats defo a right off ... had same problem myself
  13. Well it was pretty simple.... he had me on the first straight / bypass by about one car length but to be fair he started accelerating first.... got to the next roundabout and I was level with him - gunned it through the gears side by side... got to 90+ and I started pulling ahead... only just I might add but he admitted it was a fair win... He was also going hell for leather  I know for a fact from being a experience corrado vr owner for example to keep them on the boil you shift up at 6k rpm rather than take it to the red line... I suspect the Alfa was red lining in each gear loosing him some time perhaps.. I dont know but to be honest although it was a win there was really nothing in it.... So its a fair comparison / match when head to head.... even the figures on paper are similar although the GTV has 20bhp more am told... What he was surprised his £10k motor didnt blow me away  Wait till I get that engine rebuild ......... Scott
  14. Corrado - 1 GTV - 0 All you disbelievers should be shot
  15. £1300 for rebuild.... with clutch, tenisoners and chains.... Matrix is a bar steward of a job too.... I know as have done it
  16. Straight line grand prix and couple of roundabouts involved..... Well I am a more 'experienced driver' on the limit  I have also had my VR6 nearly 3yrs... he has had the GTV about 2 months  We'll see....
  17. 16v!!! That is way out.... I use to get on average 450 miles to a tank on my old 16v... the 1.8 is supposed to be the most economical Corrado there is.... I still get about 400 - 450 out of my VR6 (it does have a bigger tank though) Scott
  18. Alfa GTV 3.0 V6 versus Corrado VR6 Been challenged.... Whats going to win? :D
  19. well tbh jim..........she could well give you a run for yer money  ............about 10 years ago Autocar tested a RAV4 against a mk5 RS 2000 4x4 to see how they compared given that they were both 4WD...........up to 80mph the RAV4 was always in front of the RS2000........now bear in mind the RS2000 was pretty comparable to the Mk3 Golf GTi 16v LOL but you know that the MK5 RS2000 only had 150bhp and with 4WD to slow it down even more.... Jim's 200bhp beasty will blow it away

    dash speakers

I put two ways in the dash hole and it sounds nasty unless you have a sub to remove the bass frequencies.... Its why I have bought some focal components

    Am I mad?

Total bo**ocks mate... if you do the work yourself anything is possible....
  22. Scott

    Tyres

The 205 profile on a 15 inch is expensive due to it being a strange size for a 15 inch wheel..... hence why the 195's are cheaper as they are a common size for the 15 inch wheel
  23. Scott

    Am I mad?

Yup but you could do the G60 up so its nearly mint then sell it on for £3500 - 4000 so you make a grand or so profit.... then put that profit into your VR6
