  1. Interesting - I have set the LPF on the amp and also use the head units sub setup filter too.... I have the gain at 3/4.... but the sub can take 1000W peak
  2. Yup had this problem with my old valver on the boot.... was caused by using the wrong lacquer..... No problems with my VR6 but I do know its had a bit of paint here and there.... and going in for some more in a few weeks
  3. Its brown!!! Looks that way on the website but it's brushed aliminium. A sort of dark titanium finish. Oooooooo nice!!! Perhaps one for the VR then and will chuck the VR's in the Pug
  4. Nice one lads.... a day job then

    Head unit

Can anyone recommend a head unit for me? I have a spare amp and sub sitting in my garage and want to stick it in my Pug  - but the head unit is the OE one and am pretty sure it doesnt have RCA's!!! Can anyone also recommend some ICE websites that do cheap gear? Ta, Scott
  7. Check out the mid range Pioneers.... You will be able to get one for circa £220 and will get OEL display / EQ / Sub woofer control / DSP / and 60W per channel.... cracking head units.
  8. lol. Well wishbones and shocks are coming from the main dealer then.... might as well get service parts at same time... Is it a difficult job to do wishbones / shocks on a FORD? What sort of money am I looking at... he has given me £350 to get the wishbones / shocks and servicing done....
  9. Thanks guys. I have heard about the wishbones but pressing the bushes in are a pain in the butt hence was going to buy new ones..... Partco have quoted me £36+VAT per side.... The problem at the moment is that the Escort was my old car and I sold it to a good friend a few months ago - he loves it but recently the handling in the wet has been diabolical so he asked if I could help... We have changed the tyres so they are all the same make and lots of tread on... it still slides way too much for his liking and does feel very twitchy in the wet.... So I then remembered on the last MOT the MOT guy gave me an advisory on the wishbone bushes - specifically the passenger side so thought would do both! I have also noticed the front shocks seem a little worn so thought would replace all four shocks too... With the hope after spending all of my mates money that it will fix the problem!!!
  10. I am trying help a mate out by doing some jobs on his Escort and wondering if there are any specialist Ford Dealers... We have GSF / ECP, etc and wondered if FORD's have something similar? I need: 4 new shocks Two wishbones Service parts. Anyone know? Cheers Scott
  11. The state of it!!! Get that car cleaned lad!!!
  12. The ABS and EDL systems work together. It sounds to me as though you have a missing ABS unit! Either way even so the brake system is designed so that if the ABS should fail then the brakes will still work perfectly but without the ABS obviously... So I would suggest looking at these areas: Slave Cylinder Master Cylinder Calipers From what you say about it taking alot of effort for the brakes to work I would suggest the Master Cylinder being the culprit..... With engine off... Pump the brake pedal until its rock hard. Keep foot applied on brake.... start car... does the pedal sink about half and inch to an inch? If so your master cylinder is fine.... if not then its time for a new one... I hope that helps! Cheers Scott

    ICE upgrade

I actually use the bolts for rear seat for earthing points... works well. I agree with Kev though - I run my 6*4's off the head unit for a little rear fill.... but I have set the cross over to filter the bass out of these speakers so I can spank them harder (oooooooo matron!) so they do sound quality.. Scott
  14. I agree - on all the contracts I have won over the last 2-3 yrs every corporate company uses DELL and thats cos for reliability and value there is nothing better... I run a DELL Axim X5 with Tom Tom 3... the Axim X3 is also good if smaller and more compact. Great piece of kit! - I transfer it from my Pug to the Corrado all the time - 2 min job... Where can I get these newsgroups then? - I paid retail for my software inc full maps (£96) Cheers Scott
  15. Buy a new Corrado.... too much hassle converting and if anything it will cost you more money....
  16. 8) my mate next too me was a little worried at that speed 8) I said to him after whats the fastest you been and he said 155mph
  17. I hit 155mph on the M58 at 6am in the morning yesterday....
  18. my mate went with them for his modified Cally.... he smashed it and they were superb with sorting it all out. Recommended in my book.... under written by Lloyds too. Scott
  19. The bigger box sounds MUCH better than the small one.... takes up about 1/3rd of my boot though... :D The difference the sub alone has made is un real.... my pioneer head unit has the facility to adjust the sub from the head unit via digital cross over, etc. So I have set the sounds to send everything below 125hz to the Sub and the rest to the other speakers.... the difference is amazing... you can now hear the speakers in the dash / doors going TSSSSSCCCCHHHHH and the sub dropping and rising bass notes..... LOVE IT!!! Cant wait to stick the focals in now  Only problem I can see when I put the focals in is that I wont be able to use the head unit to adjust the sub levels as it will affect the focals and the sub..... :? I will have to adjust it on the amp I assume.... I have a cross over on the amp on each PAIR of channels..... Which have adjustments that are: HPF FLAT LPF I assume the channels bridged would run LPF? and the Focals would run HPF? :?: Scott
  20. Its just made me realise how small the boot is!!! My box wont fit unless I tip it on its back!!! LOL I also have a much smaller box but my mate says the bigger box is tuned for the sub.... the smaller one isnt so doesnt sound as good....
  21. That's your answer then dude..... just transport the dogs in the Pug only  Like I said 95% of the time this is the case but its not always possible and usually involves me cleaning the windows after to remove the nose marks!!! My sub and amp install going in tommorrow 8)
  22. Thats a fair point Kev.... I might just mount it on back of seats and makes sure all wiring is hidden.... I ALWAYS use blankets etc to protect my carpets / seats anyway when using corrado to transport dogs (although the majority of the time they go in Pug!) so I could cover the amp off....
  23. yeah thats an idea.... will defo be using velcro though.... will velcro be man enough to hold sub down :D
