  1. Ahh ok, doh. I thought I needed a resource pack to get it to do that. I'll give it a go tonight. You got any ideas on why ETKA 6 won't install/how I can get it to install?
  2. 6yrs (well almost 7) later and we're still running 98 compatability stuff. Hurrah for Micro$oft. I'll go rummage on the microsoft site for it.
  3. No, but the screen res on my laptop is 1500x something, so I would guess it'll be ok. It keeps coming up with an error message saying "Cannot find ///Fast hard lock device" (or similar). ETKA 5 will install, but won't run, saying hardlock not found. ETKA 6 just comes up with that message straight away and won't even begin the install. I've tried both ETKA 5 and 6, but I have a feeling it's something to do with XP Pro  Any suggestions are worth a go though :)
  4. I must say I'm generally not one for gold, but those rims do look rather tasty, they compliment the purple (excuse lack of colour code knowledge) very nicely.
  5. I'm sure you can post the codes on here and some kind person with ETKA will be able to tell you what they are (not me cos my bloomin ETKA won't install  )
  6. Your order has been added to the list... just 2 more to go...
  7. See I told you they were good :) The wiper blades will make a world of difference too! So where abouts are you based Eug?
  8. I'll see what they can do... you may have to come to some agreement with the other G60 guys and all have he same, but I'm not sure. Clodhoppers!? - http://clodhoppers.tv/ ?
  9. I'd certainly like the panel & window and that's a damn good price, so I'll see what the guys at the bodyshop say tomorrow. I'll PM you when I know for sure I'll get it and I can come pop over to pick it up. Thanks dude ;)
  10. Ahh didn't think of that, nice one. the station wagon!! Oh dear oh dear. The drop top looks good tho :)
  11. It needs to be added to the buying guide really. I'll put it into the how-to website when I have the strength.
  12. Yeah that's the kinda sound you don't miss easily... luckily :) And yeah I'm dead impressed with the quality, but I can't take credit, it's the one that was on vwvortex.
  13. nice one! Hopefully repair work will start this week, depending on how much I have to argue with the insurance company... no idea how long it's gonna take, but I guess a good few weeks?
  14. Even black Recaro's? :D
  15. You make it sound like a weekly occurance? :) Well last time I smashed something up I got away with it not being a write off by about |--| much, so hopefully I can do it again. We shall see though.
  16. corrado_barnett, some dead links there mate...
  17. Latest update: I took the car down to the other bodyshop I knew today to get them to quote on it, but they wanted £30 just to tell me a price and we about as helpful as a jammed open sunroof. Luckily I hear that their work is good, even if they are slightly pikey gits. So, as this obviously happened yesterday *ahem*, I bit the bullet and called elephant to make a claim. The stupendously nice girl on the other end was very helpful and took all the details and faxed them over to the same bodyshop I'd been to earlier in the day. So I now have to call the bodyshop again tomorrow and arrange to take it back down there for a proper insurance quote. Now, this is the interesting maths bit... the original quote from a known-to-be-expensive place was £2550 inc a few extra bits. So, my excess is £500 , which takes the actual cost to elephant down to £2k, then minus the cost of the extra bits I wanted done too (I'll pay for them separately) and we're looking at about £1750ish cost to elephant. Which, even with their silly valuation of the car's value should still be ok (just) for getting repaired instead of written off. But we shall see...
  18. Wow I must say when I read the title I thought ugh, that's gonna look awful, but actually it looks damn nice :D
  19. It's ok that was what I was referring too. I made the call to elephant today and found out my excess is actually £500 not £400 as I thought  but it means it should bring the actual cost to them down to £2k and that included the extra bits too. So with any luck it won't be a write off, even with their rediculous valuation. And yes, it may be expensive to get the chains done, but you'll have a nice quiet engine and a new clutch afterwards. It's a damn site better than having a valve plough into a piston when the chain jumps a tooth too.
  20. Similarly 'crunch' costs a thousand pounds? Or something...
  21. So does it sound like this? (the shaking of a tin of marbles noise is the one you have to worry about!) Edit: Grr it won't let me upload the wma file, it says it's not allowed as an extension. Then when I click "Allowed extensions and sizes" I get a load an error message. OK, change of plan, I've put the sound file HERE

    Failed MOT help...

Mine still has a butt load of slack around central, even with new top mounts (pre and post tree). Sounds like something else to go on the list after I get it fixed.
  23. On my quote to fix my err dents, I have an item that is around £30 listed as "rear window repair kit" which I presume is just the seals? Then you can go pilfer a bit of glass from a scrapper. I may be wrong though.
  24. It could well be your timing chains/tensioner as they rattle the most when cold and around the 1k-1.25k revs. The best description I've heard is that they sound like marbles rattling in a can. If you want something to to compare, there is a sound clip of a dying set of timing chains somewhere on the vwvortex.com forum. I'll dig it out and post it here when I get home if you want.
  25. heh heh np, it was worth a plug :D
