Campaign

Hey folks, anybody have a VAG-COM in the (east)Midlands could have a look at my OBD1 VR6 for me, the ABS light is sticking on and it's MOT time past :( There'll be a beer (or few) in it :)

Well, after getting completely lost last night trying to find the venue (it took me 45 minutes to get there, and 7 minutes to get home) I had a good time at the Carrington Arms in Ashby Folville, Leics eyeing up a number of delicious models ;) A few of the better pics at the usual address of http://www.AutoPoster.co.uk - and a few examples below :)

I believe it is about 4 years now, as that's when Jimbo bought his, and they don't often come up for sale ;) As for Majik's "replica" he didn't get the dashboard, so it's only half a Campaign (and a G60 to boot ;) ) The MonteCarlos were an optional extra on pre-facelift VR6s, not just Campaigns, I've got some pics and an article on Paddy Hopkirk test driving a very early (J-Plate) VR6 with MonteCarlos on. As for price premium, I'd love to believe it has loads of premium and that I'd be beating people off with a stick if I put her up for sale, but I can't see it happening really as only people "in the know" would consider it to be any more valuable, and people "not in the know" would probably prefer a "Storm" as they've more than likely heard of them :sigh: But, hey, I'm not selling anyway, so value is immaterial. Hey Jim, sorry to dissapoint, I'm still not put off the idea of Air-Con, as I don't believe it would be too out of place in "the ultimate spec", and I don't think many people would even notice, just not enough money or time to sort it out at the mo. Maybe in years to come ;)

The one in Ipswich is the one that Triggy thought was in Essex. Me and Jimbo, one in London, one interior in Majik's car and the mystery of the sixth one, which I have NEVER seen or heard of... (There was a sneaky rumour that one got written off before it even GOT to the garage concerned)... The mystery deepens ;)

Stealth is the nearest place for VR6s to Leicestershire. Whereabouts are you? I'm guessing Mountsorrel/Barrow way?

Why do you say Beige would be more Scarlett? I'm not disagreeing or arguing, just interested to see what makes you say that?

I once judged Daz Yates' C in concours, and could only find 1 point I could drop points on it from - it was almost perfect.

Also depends on how quickly you want to sell it - if you don't have a specific time frame, aim high and wait... if you need to sell quickly, about £3k should see if go like billy whizz...

I've had two :), but I wonder if that included the 20-odd that were in the Vento Cup? And I wonder how many of them were police ones?

Glad to be of service :) I only use mine for MP3s though. it means I can put about 800 320kpbs tracks on one disk though :) That's plenty albums... I do miss the "knobs" of the MP-70/80 though

I had the same thing happen on mine about 2 months ago, pulled the unit for about 2 hours (completely unplugged and took out) Replaced it and it's worked fine since. Though, I did also replace it with a Sony MEX-R5 a couple of weeks ago, so the MP-80 is going in the Raddo and the MP-70 is going in the Rocco.

Well, actually.... the interior of the Campaign is officially listed as being Tan... I'd call it Brick Red, but that's what it says in the bumpf...

Particularly poignant in light of the race ;)

That's a real Storm then - kept coming second/Third in Concours at Stanford Hall. Good to know it's still around :)
