Strange Rubbing Sound Per Revolution of front R/H wheel
Shaggy replied to Shaggy's topic in Drivetrain
well the noise is still there! its not as bad now... When i took the torque steer damper off i pushed the brake piston all the way in and that seemed ok... could it be that its still not quite freed up yet? -
Yeah mine is probably running closer 250bhp now, when i had it RR @ stealth i was running a safe map and produced a healthy 242bhp, since then its had a stainless manifold and the remap is pretty much spot on now! very happy with it... :D

Strange Rubbing Sound Per Revolution of front R/H wheel

Not sure if this is related but i ve just looked under the car and the drive shaft anti vibration damper as moved all the way along towards the gearbox end of the shaft... and it had started to come away from the driveshaft itself... I have cut the little bugger off , so will have to see if this was causing the rubbing sound??? -

Yeah i am pretty sure this is torqued to the correct figure... I am gonna have a proper look over the coming weekend, i think you may be right on the brakes starting to seize tho! cheers -
I am assuming that would be ok as i had darren fit this box about 2 months ago? he also filled it with oil? may be worth checking tho hey! :-) Whats the capacity ? 2L?

the preload on the bearing? i take it you mean the big nut that holds the cv onto the bearing ? -

Also forgot to mention that this rubbing sound seems to go after the car has been driven for a while? only seems to happen from cold or when car has been standing for a while?? -
Alright people!, done a search on this but couldnt really pin point anything... I am getting what can best be described as a sort of rubbing sound coming from the front end of the car, it seems to happen more when turning left?? and you can hear it ever so slightly when accelerating in a straight line?? there is nothing in the way that could be catching the tyre or anything, but the rubbing sound seems to be in time with the wheel going round...? I have practically changed changed all parts up from about 3 months ago including bearings etc.. could it be something like a faulty bearing (gsf bearing?), or maybe a outer CV joint?

yeah they are the later style ones! i am not sure if anyone makes the chain re-inforced rubbers for the later style hangers, i think the best i can hope for are these polyflex ones.
-
these chain reinforced jobbies? what are these like? do they do them in the bar type hanger fitment?
-
I am after a decent set of exhaust mounts, something that will actually support my new Exhaust system... 8) Are the Powerflex ones anygood? Anyone had any experience with any of these? http://www.powerflex.co.uk/exhaust.asp Was thinking that the EXH005 model would be a good replacement for my rubbers as i have bar type hangers??
-
i think i am having a very similar problem?? although it only happens from cold?? when its all warm its fine??

Been working the past 22 days on the trot andy, so this is my first day off! yeh Darren colour coded "moonlight blue" to match the car! I was a bit hesitant to do them in that colour but i think they should look cool! as my car is quite dark anyway, the centres look black from a distance, as dones the whole car. By the way, the car no longer bleeds boost.... i am pretty certain it was leaking boost through the bloody water jet as since i changed it to the larger jobbie its a constant 15psi with no drop what so ever.... still pinks slightly tho, this will need sorting at some point aswell. 8)
-
just finished! i must say i am pretty happy with results! although one centres has come out a bit dodgy which i think was due to laquer going off too early, will sort this out over the weekend as they have to be left for a whuile now to harden of before i can do anything else.
-
I think 15s will look cool mate, i am using my compressor mate and a spray gun! using a 2K laquer! quite potent stuff but the finish is pretty damn good for a DIY job! Just finished the centres, will post up piccies when they are dry.
-
yeah saw these! they look stunning! and yeah the offsets are a bit mental although you never know :D
-
the actual centres are proving to be a bit of a pain... trying to get an even coat of laquer into each little cutout!! The Sizes are 7" X 16 ET 36 Fronts & 9" X 16 ET 49 Rears Just had the outers picked up to be mirrored aswell and i am awaiting delivery on the bolts and some new bbs emblems for the caps and all should be sorted! Its lucky i got these rims really cus i have just as we speak curbed by D90s! on the back...typical
-
been a bit busy today... just started laquering the centres..
-
where can we download it.... :)
-
that jag is very nice car... think it has a bit of a old man type image tho... 8) Keep the Rado mate!
-
Yeah i know i ve been trying to today!! spent the past 2 hours trying to get a decent enough finish and it just doesnt seem good enough... Ive got in touch with a guy that goes by the name of "tho polisher" who is gonna powder coat the centres silver and polish up the outers for me at a very reasonable price, works out to be just a little over £50 a wheel for the polish and the powder coat. Ive had enough! at least ive had a go hey....
-
Right guys seeing as i am going to be polishing the outers on my bbs rims soon i ve been looking around at the various systems available to give my the shine... Can anyone reccomend the best system to use?? There are various kits available from frost etc?? http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=9010&frostProductName=Standard%20Polishing%20Kit http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=8273&frostProductName=Wheel%20Polishing%20Kit Or this system?? http://www.briliant.biz/view_product.php?product=B%2058
