  1. I can click on classifieds but can't seem to log in to create a new post, I just get an about us section and it says to register. Am I missing something?
  2. ...oh I forgot to mention/ask. When I first put the motor in it made a high-pitched 'rubbing' noise. I took the motor out again and found this filer lurking about where the motor sits; Is this original? To me it looks like it's just been cut off another filter and shoved up there!
  3. This evening I got rid of a couple of little annoyances with the car. Firstly, my heater blower motor has been noisy the last couple of weeks. I had a search around here yesterday and found this thread - http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=88117&highlight=blower+motor I ordered one and it turned up this morning on courier! Can't ask for more than that ;) As stated in the thread the removal is dead easy. The two spade connectors that go on to the terminals of the resistor pack were very loose, even though they have the OEM style locking tabs but that was soon sorted with crimping them on tighter. However, as soon as I touched the plastic tab that holds the resistor pack in place, it snapped which was a tad annoying. I managed to hold it in place with a metal cable tie around the whole assembly. My OCD couldn't handle that something new is a little 'bodged' now, but it has no bearing on the operation and I can't see it! So went from this; to this; The other job (at last!!) was to remove my heater control panel, stick foam tape to the outer edges, then refit it. The drive home from work was lovely - no more squeaking!! I've been meaning to do this since I got the car and having done this and the blower motor there's not a squeak or rattle to be heard from the car which is amazing - such a solid little motor ;)
  4. Only way is to take the joint off and take a look, you'll soon see the wear. New CV joint I guess isn't too pricey?
  5. Black isn't good! This may help - http://ngksparkplugs.com/tech_support/spark_plugs/faqs/faqread.asp :thumbleft:
  6. Yeah colour looks right. Is there build-up on the central electrode?
  7. Poo brown!! I do like it though, it looks great
  8. Had that on my old 944 turbo - it was CV joint (inner from memory)
  9. This afternoon we put the C on the gas analyser. CO was hovering around 0.7 and HC around 600 so all looks good to me! The car seems to have 'settled' since last nights fix, long may it continue and run without issue
  10. Well to continue this saga, we at last got around to fitting the new lambda probe last night. It turns out it's had a replacement - probably not too long ago - with an aftermarket one as the wires had been spliced on to the old plug. However, one wire had almost disconnected as it was hanging on by a strand! Problem solved we thought! So we reconnected the wire, fired up the engine then plugged back in the water temp sensor plug and it ran like a pig and stalled! :( Tried again and it now runs well. It's definitely too rich though so we'll look at the mixture later today and see where we go from there. Fingers crossed we may have fixed it ;)
  11. Cheers for the info David. I did that with a MK1 Golf Cabby not so long ago - filled up with the back seat out and watched the fountain of fuel spurt all over the top of the tank!! lol Cheers again Andy
  12. The last two times I've filled up the C (full tank) I get fuel dripping off the bottom of the tank and a big puddle under the car. It stops quite soon after filling up. I'm used to MK1 Golfs having this issue when the O-ring under the fuel sender on top of the tank has perished and needs replacing. I'm assuming this may be a similar issue but couldn't find an answer searching on here. Does anyone know this to be the likely cause? Looking on Partsbase it doesn't show a separate O-ring, just the cap (no 23 on here - http://www.partsbase.org/vw/corrado-cor-eu-1995-65-fuel-tank/) Any help appreciated as always ;) Cheers Andy
  13. It's a shame that there's so much politics involved in F1 at times and also that money buys you a seat nowadays, not talent alone. That said, I think this season has been one of the most exciting for years - maybe 10+ years. There's been fantastic racing throughout the field - and overtaking!! lol - and whilst Mercedes have creamed it like Red Bull used to, both Mercedes drivers are up there so there's a race up front and a race behind in the rest of the pack. I've loved it this year!
  14. Thanks for that. I'm used to doing MK1 Golf cam covers that leak like a pig unless you're meticulous in doing them so will take my time with it ;)
  15. Nice one, thanks for the confirmation ;) I take it I'll need an inlet gasket too as that has to come off.
  16. As mentioned on the other thread, is there a reason for coilovers, not shocks and springs? I'm no expert but general opinion seems to be for driving/ride quality you'll get more for your money with shocks/springs. However, if you're after big 'lows' then it's coilovers. On my last MK2 Golf 16v I replaced every nut, bolt, bush etc with standard, along with standard shocks and Eibach lowering springs (mainly as you can't get standard 16v springs any longer) and the combination of ride quality and handling was excellent. Eibach springs with Koni shocks is a very popular set-up on Golfs, it makes a nice balance
  17. All good choices I think. FK always seem to get high praise. The only experience I have of any of those is I've got AP's on a MK1 Golf GTI in stock at the moment and it rides nicely, without being too bouncy/crashy
  18. Ok this may be a daft question? Do all 9A engines have cam cover gaskets? Mine needs doing but I heard someone (not on here) say recently that they could be chem sealed. Partsbase mentions a gasket and Heritage for example stock them - https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/corrado/027198025/rocker-cover-gasket-set-mk2-golf-jetta-gti-16v/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1 At the moment the C is my only transport so if I take it apart I want to know it's going back together on the same day!! LOL Thanks in advance ;) Andy
  19. Saw him again yesterday as I was pulling out of my drive - waves exchanged, then followed him in to Stamford!
  20. I bet you were glad to get that 'tidy up' finished. Laborious but worth while. I like the fan demister option, nice touch ;)
