  1. Think im gonna have a look at my cooler. the old jabba charger will have filled it with oil i reckon.
  2. ahh,may explain my slight heavy use of optimax then! any idea what could cause it not to go lean? throttle closed switch at a guess? in burnley on thursday? cool, yeah gimme a shout before hand gav :D
  3. Corrado Bumper Removal Neil.
  4. cool thanks gav, my gauge does the following, some say it sounds right, some disagree :? cold start, ticking over:it stays fully rich for a bit. warm, ticking over:fluctuates between far end of ok to rich. driving, tickling the throttle:again fluctuating far end of ok to rich. full throttle:fully rich. backing off:stays at the far right ok position. sound ok?
  5. mmmm, maybe another potential cause of my problems then. sorry, dont want to clutter this sticky with my cars problems.
  6. ahh, makes sense gavin, although according to the afr gauge it runs rich if anything? dont know how accurate it is like. steveo,i remember steve at psd saying that i wouldnt need a 3.5 pressure reg but im gonna double check which chip he's sending me as a replacement. whats the difference between stage 5 and stage 5.5? neil.
  7. i tried this earler, feckinell it dosnt half pressurise the pipes does it! didnt dare hold it for the 2 seconds tbh! anyway,is it normal for the plastic intercooler hose to expand? the inlet one? no leaks showed up which was nice, but cant understand why one plastic hose would expand and the other dosnt. cheers, neil.
  8. good point actually m8 8) at the mo im running the old superchip with the 68mm pulley. used to be stage 2 jabba charger with superchip and 70mm pully, its had a standard 3bar? pressure reg the whole time. would it make that much difference? im waiting on a replacement sns stage 5 or 5.5 i think it is,from psd. no vac leaks as far as i can tell potatonet m8. neil.
  9. cool,im gonna go try this now. my hose from the charger to intercooler pipe looks a bit cracked and tired. £53+vat at vw though !!!!!!!!!
  10. what would happen if the hose from t body to carbon cannister was a little dodgy? mine looks a bit frayed where it goes onto t body.
  11. i just nearly fell over in the stealership earlier today. g60 boost hose from charger to intercooler pipe. sommet like £53+vat !!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! are vw the only place for these? and the throttle cable? £22+vat!
  12. just to add, i disconnected the bts today to double check it,and the revs dropped :? strange as i havent touched anything! apart from replacing oil pressure senders on filter head and side of cylinder head.
  13. vid of mine, not the best sound quality  this was before all my problems too, wish it drove like that now!
  14. yep,all good m8,cleaned up with emory and fitted nice and securely. looks like the main part of the problem is fixed (fingers crossed!) it hasnt done the popping back in the inlet manifold all day :D still has the intermittent power though, driving on just the first choke it holds back (sometimes) and on full throttle it pulls then dosnt, then pulls then dosnt. checked the battery voltage without the car running-12.8 volts or a touch more, and with the car running with lights/heater on - 13.5ish at the battery and 13.8/14v at the alternator. something else has happened too  since replacing the volt regulator if i start it without revving it,the battery light stays on,when i blip the throttle it goes out. what ya reckon guys? just like to say thanks to everyone who has helped me so far too 8) its getting there! neil.
  15. yeah, supposed to be good batterys the optima stuff, should be for the feckin price too  gonna check voltages soon :D neil.
  16. thanks m8,ill check it out tommorow while checking the charge from the alternator. 8) what amp battery should the g60 have btw?
  17. mine does this aswell!!"revs rise"any idea what sensor it could be! regards kevin any more info on this? :) ill check the voltage at the battery tommorow with the headlights and heater on? if it was an intermittent volt reg all this time i will cry  i never noticed the voltage drop before though... :? cheers again guys. 8)
  18. aye, thing is im still not 110% that was the problem, ive tested the voltage from the alternator a few times (over 14 volts) and ant tested it too, seemed alright like :? maybe it was intermittent? edit:for pic of old volt reg!

    Piston matters

wouldnt the valver produce more torque? and have more revs to play with?
  20. nice swapping between 78 and 68 would mean swapping the serpentine too wouldnt it keith? plenty people tend to run the 68's with no probs, could always drop the revs a bit on trackdays? not what you wanna be doing really though i suppose?
  21. it just stops warm air being recirculated back into the charger,on part throttle you get a slight sucking noise and when you let off you get a bit of a whooosh. :)
  22. cheers guys. potatonet, thanks m8,but i did get the crank bolt nice and tight, used a massive breaker bar on it. ant, what other sensors are we thinking m8? could it be as simple as an oil pressure switch leaking maybe? like you say being an intermittent problem its a fecker to sort out. i may have an update actually, tell me what you think... on theway to gsf earlier,it played up once where there was no power, and then ticked over rough when i came to a stop. after being parked up at gsf and setting off home,i noticed the (recently fixed/new relay) rear spoiler wasnt working, girlfriend noticed my volt gauge reading like 11/12 volts while it was running :? pulled over, checked the alternator wiring, all looked fine. got my trusty vw driver out and whipped the voltage regulator off the alternator, erm fecked by the looks of it. went back to gsf  new regulator on,voltage back to how it should be :D and spoiler now working :? it drove home 110% fine (for now!) so would the ecu have detected low voltage and also stopped the spoiler working? :? neil.(sorry, long post!)
  23. yep, like new m8,and also a new dx crank bolt and washer. new bts too, although when ant was setting it up,it ended up with the bts not affecting the idle like it should. i think thats how it ended up ant? forgot to add it does drive smoother!,probably the timing that sorted that 8)
  24. i think? its the same knock sensor as used on the 9a 2.0 16v,may be slightly cheaper? it all helps,i know!
  25. aye, went down to see ant. was parked up on a dual carrigeway, when some nutter did a 'nice' rwd u turn  'this looks like him mary' i said  it drove all the way home mint ! but! this morning the problem still persists :( while taking it out of the garage at tickover, revs dropping low and popping/farting,and the holding back at near full throttle. the timing will have been out with me swapping the dizzy(didnt have a timing light to check it) and the co pot,ive had it at loads of diffarent settings and it dosnt seem to affect the problem in any way. power wise though,i think ant made me realise that im probably expecting too much after the mk1  so i think i need a go in his vr6s some time :D i dunno about the problem though,im gonna just put up with it for a while and probably organise a trip to darren or someone sometime. im just wondering if gavs dodgyheadlight loom is causing the problem?  neil.
