  1. Seriously mate, id bin the solid front mount asap. They are a horrible idea in my opinion. Just imagine where all the vibration and stresses are going now that you have no rubber to absorb a lot of it as designed by vw? Its all going into the metal mount (which has snapped) and into the subframe and associated bolts etc... As for the cutting out, check the connections to your coil, if the engine moves a lot they can pull loose but still hang on via the plastic cover over the spade terminal. Id check the single black wire first. Neil.
  2. Hi mate, great stuff 8) Im having problems using the font with signlab 7.1 though, a lot of the letters/numbers don't appear. Can you help? Cheers, Neil.
  3. Just bought two more 9x16 borbets...Just because they were the right money with the same size tyres as im currently running. 215/40's. Was planning on either going red centers, or black centers with red dishes and run them on one side of the car. But after fitting them, i think im gonna leave em as they are and look for another two. And fitted, looks totally diffarent to how i imagined. Maybe i should have never painted the new ones i bought!? Poor photoshops of what i was going to do...
  4. Thats the plug for your lambda probe, looks like the signal wire has come away. You can splice another connector on from another car (corrado/passat etc) or trim back the plastic around the connection and solder the wire back in. Neil.
  5. Wasn't happy with the 'obvious' cut out in the digi voltage gauge i made, so wrapped it in some GunSmoke Lamin-X to give it a glossy, more finished/standard look. Ive also just bought two more 9x16 Borbet A's... :?
  6. Apologies...I meant no resistance as in being 'jolty' or 'uneven' or overly hard to push down ... :embarassed smily: There is a good and even resistance pressure wise when they pushed in, they didn't just drop/push in easily. A nice umph with body weight (a whole 10stone ) makes em go down nice and smoothly. And then pulled back up with a bit of effort. Sorry for the confusion. Not sure where to look really?
  7. I do tend to agree with you there mate...Although i couldn't fault the ride quality when i fitted them, i can't really compare them to what they are like now with the car having been on/off the road so much lately. The pistons on all of mine had no resistance at all, and when pushing them in...they all returned a 'little' and slowly.
  8. Yep, all spot on cheers mate. :salute: Mmmm...I did wonder about that supercharged, as i suppose they don't really take a lot of grief with the way they are bolted up to the subframe? Im 'Hoping' the shocks are ok :( They are fk konigsport which have covered around 20k miles...Ive recently replaced all 8 collars on them (not that this is the problem) Mmmm...When tackling apeed bumps it does tend to feel like the damping has sort of disappeared when it 'bangs' Its hard to explain stuff like this innit  Its not like an obvious 'knock' or bang really, more of a 'thud' with an element of play somewhere... What ya think mate? Not sure there's an easy way to test the uprated/konigsport dampers, they are fine visually with no leaking around the piston?
  9. Reyt...Are corrado's supposed to feel like the front end is falling off? Ive recently replaced: top mounts. wishbones and bushes. drop links. ball joints. track rods. all engine mounts. I didn't get around to doing the anti roll bar bushes/steering rack bush. Anyway, it still has a 'banging' or a feeling of something having some play somewhere over rough/bumpy roads. :( There is a slight 'knock' through the steering but that feels like the column, diffarent thing. Ive had a look at etka, and it seems there are some bushes on the engine carrier, bonded mounting. Does anyone have any good pictures of these? Are they a likely culprit? and are they easy to replace? Im guessing support engine/box, and can you then drop the carrier on its own without the subframe? Neil.
  10. If the pressure drops after running the car, the switch makes the pump run. Though it should only come on if the fan is also running at the same time.
  11. I have just had a play up at the unit. Bought this digital voltage gauge as i may end up doing away with the VDO one in the dash. Nowhere for it to go without looking like an 'add on' type thing, so split the box open. I bet ya know whats coming next? lol Take a dash blank and chop the back pegs off, and cut a hole in it. Plastic weld the pegs from the dash blank onto/through the circuit board. I forgot that the box it was in provided a sort of blank for the non lit digits, so i stuck some Lamin-X over the face. You can see the effect. Fitted! Its off center because i haven't finished it yet, needs tidying around the edges and i have another idea for it. When lit, it looks a lot more black/red than it does in the pics.
  12. Also check the earth leads, behind battery, cylinder head, coil etc etc Neil.
  13. Check the microswitches on the throttle body are activating by listening for a click, and then check them for a change in ohms with a test meter. Also try unplugging the lambda sensor, its only used on throttle (not tickover or full throttle) so it may be running rich and fouling the plugs for when you attempt to restart it. Neil.
  14. Does this look like £55 quids worth to anyone else? :( New radiator elbow. Elbow seal. 2x elbow bolts and spring washers. 2x Radiator mounting rubbers. (one was split) 8x Zaust manifold copper squash nuts. 8x Washers for the above. 4x Zaust manifold gaskets. Got the radiator elbow/bolts on and finally got to flush the coolant (again) and fill up with a g12+ mix. The zaust stuff is for when i possibly fit the 4 branch, i fitted all new zuast studs/nuts/washers when i had the head off, but thought best to replace em again minus the studs hopefully.
  15. No worries :) A single piece at 12"x16" will protect BOTH headlight faces, once cut in half to 6"x16" Neil.

  17. It will definately feel a bit 'flat' pottering about compared to sommet on webbers, Ive always thought the same when driving about off boost. Especially trying to cruise up a large hill, it feels as though you have to force (excuse the pun) it to keep good momentum going. I previously ran a mk1 golf 16v on 45 webers (oh how i miss it) and i only wish the G60 was as responsive/snappy on the throttle. My heart lies with N/A really. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v17/m ... evving.flv
  18. New radiator fitted. Still need a new radiator elbow etc before i can finally stick (some more!!!) coolant in as the original one had snapped/seized bolts (ive replaced it before) and a spare ive put on has broken on the end. Which means the helpfull dealers... Temp cable tie on the charger oil feed as the radiator is slightly diffarent. 535 121 647 - elbow. 535 121 687 - seal. N010 3664 - long bolt. N0102228 - short bolt. N010 2265 - 2X washers. 535 121 275 2X rubbers.
  19. Aye, thats the one Phil! 8) Thank you mate, hats off to you also, for reading from page 30! :D
  20. Thats a good way to sum it up mate...Are you taking part in the race for life? Thats the problem Phil...Like you say, i have loads of silly idea's left yet but i dunno...Its been such a nightmare since day one, i can still remember the day when the water pump went after just buying it and its been a looooong and expensive/stressful road since that very day :pale: They all look good eh? but thats all im liking at the minute, not fast enough, not enough money to make it faster  Ill be at the dubpres meet in it tonight at least anyway, and ive just ordered a new radiator for the bloody thing.
  21. Some crackers in here now...The cat chasing! and the police
  22. Still unsure whether to carry on with it or not...Hmmmm. Finally got a new toyo proxey 215/40/16 at £70 quid from blackcircles, and ended up getting kwik fit to fit it! I was there for a good hour, 4 lads bouncing the wheel round trying to get the tyre to seat on the bead. It just wouldn't go on! They aren't overly stretched (not that i want them to be!) but never had grief when i first got em... Latest pics from Christian off Volksdevil, who has buggered off round the world the raggy git! Neil.
  23. Irwins will fit i reckon, and they will laugh the allen bolt out 8)
