Well id say if anyone can put a good quality kit togther like this, then KW probably can. I was also looking into new coilovers because i now hate konigsports after only 20k miles or so...These would definately be of interest to me. Every day, 4/5 times a day i have to take a stupidly long route to avoid massive speed bumps, i still come across some that take some overly slow approach/angle...so these would maybe be quite handy for me. I was considering KW's anyway too.

is that just hammerite smooth? did you use primer? looks like a really great finish - might follow that method as seems a whole lot easier than how i was doing mine Yep...Just hammerite spray, no laquer...can't stand the stuff. I didn't use primer as the wheels were brand new so when i sanded them down i just went half way through the original laquer/paint. Neil.
-
Hammerite with no laquer for the win  Not sure its available in orange though! Neil.
-
Stick with OE/Original quality...Its got the correct bore/length to provide adequate flow/pressure to the charger. Neil.

Yeah, they do look a nice bit of kit eh mate. 8) According to the site: What were the cast pistons you used mate? Which engine code were they from? Not the 3A ones are they? Im just weighing up cast VS forged as like you mention, forged may be a bit ott...Using a little oil etc until up to full working temp.
-
Oh mate... :( :( :(

Great stuff mate cheers, where is the limited knock sensor position? Does it still use the extension off the block as i believe that if you don't then you need a diffarent knock sensor... Good to have another piston link too, ive been looking for more to compare etc. So far my fave idea were http://www.autotech.com/prod_engine_piston.htm 83.5mm bore and 9:1 CR at $629.95
-
Cool. 8) Yeah....Im still pondering at the moment. I was going to overbore a 3a block initially (83.5mm forged pistons), but have been thinking about sticking with the pg. Is it your build thread that ive seen on the vortex mate? I was going to ask about a few things such as placing the knock sensor etc... Like i say though, still unsure at the moment. Current (pretty standard) 1800 gives 203.6 @ the flywheel...but ive always wanted to do fancy rebuild. Cheers, Neil.

I haven't bothered with any 'lube' for a few years now...and i wouldn't recommend it really. Reason being that i spent a lot of money on a full blend charger from pitstop, real nice porting of the charger. And after using lube for a while it made all the porting absolutely pointless as it just builds up and gathers. I had to strip it out and remove all the built up gunk. :gag: I don't think vw really intended for the engine to breathe heavy and do any 'lubricating' of the charger apex strips, more to just keep any mist in the system as said above. My charger still gives 15psi at redline with no issue's. Neil.

Id just like to decrease temps under the bonnet really, and the stainless obviously give quite a bit more heat off. Was going to 'play' with the inlet manifold too. Its funny you mention other idea's mate, im thinking about going 2.0 by using a 3a or 2e bottom end, more than likely 3a with being short block and no further manifold clearance issues. How do you rate impulse developments as far as balancing etc mate? Id be going full on custom pistons/rods/crank if i do go ahead with it.
-
Im just on with an interior project at the minute but still wanting to get the manifold/new system fitted. I have sat it loosely on a mates spare 8v head, and it looks like the washers definately want a little grinding :bad-words: But before i go fitting it i was thinking of having it ceramic coated or wrapping it. I keep seeing conflicting thoughts on both... Surely, if the manifold is well built with good welds etc then wrapping it shouldn't be a problem? Im not sure it is though tbh, its rusty so i don't rate the stainless thats been used, its not the best fit either...needs a fair bit of squeezing two primaries together to get them onto the studs.
-
Hi mate, no worries...I appreciate your effort in making it :) I still can't get it to work properly, I need it so i can cut some vw related words into vinyl, for an interior retrim project. Neil.
-
Doesn't that invalidate the ticket? ;) I was thinking the same, but he went and took photo's front and rear :ignore: Its only £30 quid anyway...Im sure i used to pay £70.
-
Ive just got a ticket for not having a front plate...On the ticket it says "Vw Scirocco" People are forever mistaking it for one!

Looking good mate, It was me and Manny that came boght those g60 steels off ya. Neil.

Is it just the plastic around where the connector pushes in thats diffarent mate? You can actually swap the internals from one casing to the other, ive just done this myself. Its pretty self explanatory if you pop the cover off. Thats what id do...or you could do a 'jim'll fix it' by chopping the plastic away and tie wrapping the connector on. In fact it looks like you could just file a slot in the plastic on the pump on the right, to match the one on the left? Neil.

Tried the above...Seems it is a vac leak. There's a T piece which splits vac to the front and rear of the car. I popped off the tube that runs to the front and put my finger over the hole. So only the petrol flap and boot lock were working...Operated the door lock and it/they worked perfectly. So the leak is up front somewhere, bloody would be wouldn't it. Looks like its going to be an actuator in one of the front doors or the tubing. Ive got a full cars worth of spare tubing...but unsure if i have the actuators. Neil.
-
Cheers mate... I guess it could be the pump, but it does suck real hard, better than the ex...And as soon as my fingers over the hole   it stops pretty quickly. I have a spare pump somewhere but the vac pin is broken off it, so i may swap the internals into my original pump housing. Does anyone have any tips/tricks for finding a vac leak in the tubing though? Obviously all the bloody door cards/rear cards etc are gonna have to be removed. :(
-
Cheers lads, Jimmy, the pump is in the right hand side of the boot under the carpet, then inside a big foam erm...thing. 3corsameal, yeah...thats normal, well...It should kinda repressurise/lock again just the once i think. Ive just had mine out and im now wondering if it is indeed a vac leak. I popped the vac pipe off the pump, operated the door lock, and it kept buzzing. But when i stuck my finger over the hole on the pump it sorta built up pressure then stopped buzzing all pretty quickly. So that points towards a vac leak in the tubing or one of the actuators right? :| Great that It runs right round the bloody dash to feed the passenger side
-
When i lock or unlock the car, it all works fine...everything locks/unlocks as it should. But the central locking pump keeps on buzzing. I wouldn't say its a vac leak as all the door pins/locks work instantly...Any idea's anyone? Its currently sat outside buzzing away. :bad-words: Cheers, Neil.

Well what can i say...Budweiser too many made for a funny thread title. I don't really get wound up about tv programs. Bothered by much more important sh|t tbh, hence drinking myself to sleep. :gag: But when i heard those words...corrado...vw...supercharged, i got even more angry at the world for some reason
-
Jesus guys, chill :cuckoo: I had it on in the background while getting rather drunk, shouting at people who weren't there, and heard the words corrado, vw, supercharged...I wasn't sat there wrapped in a blanket with ice cream  And there are a couple nice pieces of a$$ on there, fern cotton lookalike (but better body) and a large breasted model.

a corrado g60.if youhave e4+1 you will hear h im say it at arounf 2.55am :cuckoo:

Hi mate, its the first time ive tried importing a ttf into signlab. It mainly uses cadlink vef font files. But there are a few of the standard ttf in there to start with. When im designing/typing in signlab and i type: Corrado G60 and of trhe red letters/numbers are missing :( And its the same when i plot/cut them. Same goes for if i type: Volksdevil.com, again with the reds missing. It all works fine in photoshop though, and i don't have illustrator. Neil.
