Lamin-X.co.uk - Vehicle protection films The old site served well, but the new one is easier to navigate and a little smoother looking. Hope its more enjoyable to browse. :) Thanks. Neil.

More than likely one of two things or a combination of both... Tired valve stem seals in the cylinder head, and/or tired piston rings/oil scraper rings. If you pop to a half decent local garage, and ask for a compression test and a leak down test they should be able to tell you the reason why you are burning oil. Neil.

Tis correct mate 8) Neil. -
Oh man thats a sh|tter :(

I ended up grinding down one of those little phillips bits that you pop in the end of a cheap screw driver. And then using a spanner on it. 8)

The G60 of course! It was the valver up until not long back, it will be for sale anytime soon :( Im a real fan of the 16v lumps and gearing.
-
Are they still available from the dealers? Anyone know how much if so? Or anywhere else online that does good quality ones? Thanks, Neil.

Not sure re:the brands, but i do know that my local Accrington gsf has closed down/gone :(
-
Cheers mate, sounds like it eh. Mmmm, more expense! Im gonna check the belt later anyway, but i can see it getting replaced along with the pump and fluid, possibly the lines, possibly the fluid tank, possibly try and just replace the pump without needlessly replacing the other bits
-
Its not the normal 'whining' whir, whir, whir noise lads, definately sommet else...Its like eek eek eek but loud and screachy, like metal on metal. If you can understand the above impressions of the noise, well done  Ill check the tension of the belt for starters, cheers. Neil.

Nah, they are cool mate apart from all the road works dirt :censored:  ...it happens when the car is still :gag:
-
On full lock, im getting a loud metallic screeching...Its not like a belt noise but sounds like a pully or something? You know when you get it on propper full lock, that weird last bit of lock that corrado's seem to have....well thats when it does it. Neil.

Cool, i think mines a bit rich on idle once warm...

Ive got an innovate lc-1 wideband lambda and gauge up and running in the g60 now, all seems fine but im unsure on the sort of figures im getting. Ive just been on my local testing ground (was quite busy with other testers though[:$] ) and full throttle seemed to range from 10.5 to 11.8 as it built up through the revs. Is that a bit rich? When i back off throttle it shows 22.4 is thats fully lean for the fuel cut off right? What sort of figures should i be aiming for at cruise/full throttle? Cheers, Neil. :)

Help! Wishbone hitting subframe!!? Speedy help appreciated
Riley replied to Riley's topic in Drivetrain
Nah its definatel a g60/valver one cheers mate :) After using the car today, i think it is definately sitting lower than it used to, its catching on the road where it didn't used to  I can't be bothered with all that and i had it set perfectly before all the new bits so im gonna raise it up and see what gives. Hopefully it will somehow!? give more clearance at the wishbone/subframe? :) Neil. -

^ Aye, thats right...no sleeve on this un...The wishbone bush located in the 'u' bit perfectly. after a bit of a think...I thought going lower would bring the wishboner nearer to the subframe, but its basically touching more a less and im pretty sure ive got the ride height the same as it was before rebuilding it all. Theres a definate differnce from one side to the other too, on the passenger side i can get a finger in the gap no problem. But at the drivers side, like i say there's very little gap and its catching when driving. If someone could confirm that this is normal? Bigger gap at passenger side id feel much more at ease! Please!? :) Ive checked the valver and the gaps are indeed different (stock suspension) but if someone else could check thats running lower than standard it would be great. See very poor pic as ive had a nightmare day today and couldn't manage a propper one. -
Help! Wishbone hitting subframe!!? Speedy help appreciated
Riley replied to Riley's topic in Drivetrain
Just to add, all the wishbones/bolts etc are new. The bolts seemed tight on the ramp, and the rear bush slotted into the 'u' shaped part of the subframe when i fitted them. Can't understand it :( -
Just drove the g60 to mot, on the way there was a knocking on/off throttle through the floor somewhere. Looked under the car while on the ramp, and the drivers side wishbone is sitting very close to the subframe, and theres a mark where it looks like its been hitting it. On the passenger side the gap between wishbone and subframe is much larger! Wtf! How can the wishbone become closer to the subframe when thats what its bolted to?! Help? :(

Ahhhhh 30mins to MOT time!!!

I love my old sony head unit - CDX-CA850. Loads of cool features, looks smart as hell even today and suits the corrado dash mint imo. Very, very cheap on ebay these days too. I paid £400 quid just for the head unit years ago! 2x pre outs and a subwoofer out which i run to an amp in the boot for 2z 10" subs in home made shelf...Its a nice fit as per original and turns the boot into a bass box so to speak! I run these alpines in the doors directly off the head unit. And i run these off the head unit too. Jbl gto in the rear shelf side sections, and jbl gto in the dash which have external cross overs. All off the head unit. And the subs which run from amp from the subwoofer preout on the head unit, the bass is really clear and punchy, not farty and the sound from the dash/door speakers is superb :D

Erm... Holy sh|t! thats superb mate. 8) ! Neil.
-
Its back home! :D Mot time tommorow! It seems to drive alright, nice and tight with the new wishbones/bushes/track rods/ball joints/top mounts etc etc Just needs the tracking/camber tweaking. Im just really wary of it having done so much work on it over the past god knows how long... Sidelights on. Low beam.

Sounds like a headlight switch or relay problem that mate :) Does it have an uprated loom fitted? The early ones tended to have poor quality fuse holders and relays that tended to cause problems... Neil.
