  1. Anyobdy know whether the early and late dashes are the same? I know this inserts, switches, dials etc are different, but are the dashes themselves the same size/shape construction etc? Thanks...
  2. It looks to me as though it isn't getting the extra fuel at WOT. Check the throttle body and make sure the microswitch on it is activated when the throttle is fully depressed.
  3. Welcome back Jay - looking forward to seeing what you do with this one....
  4. G-Werks are Bahn Brenner dealers for the UK - try them...
  5. Typical second prices. Early £20-30, late £30-40. Late carries a bit of a premium as the early to later conversion is quite popular.
  6. You should be using 10.9 for calliper adapters from memory. I've used these guys before for (funnily enough) non standard screw thread bolts. They do small quantities (I bought 4). http://www.nssocketscrews.com/
  7. 3/8 refers to the thread size of the sender. The thread for the oil temp sender in the Corrado is M10x1, so if you are fitting a second gauge (and want to retain the original temp sender as well) you'll need a t piece which is M10x1 male (for screwing into the car), M10x1 female (for the original oil temp sender) and then the second female thread in what ever size the sender is with the gauge you are getting. Before doing that though have you tried replacing the oil temp sender?

    JMC's G60

Minor bit of work today. Modified the drivers air vent (did not want to pay £40 for an SWG one) to take my 52mm Defi EGT gauge. Not got it wired in just yet, one step at a time  . Finally happy with the ful set of gauges I have though (and that EGT took me some tracking down, as they stopped making it a couple of years back).

    JMC's G60

Just realised I haven't had anything on here for ages - must do more work on the car  Should have some more news next week after the next round tuning. Putting a 65mm pulley and W5DPOs along with it being properly mapped to the new exhaust (and potentially bigger injectors, but we'll see). In the mean time a shot of some of the new yellow headlight protectors that turned up this morning :D
  10. Sorry to hear that Rog - hope you manage to get it sorted :(
  11. I reckon it is mate - the Corrado bonnet weighs a tonne! JMC - any chance you could put some pics up of the washer jet relocation? viewtopic.php?f=11&t=34451&start=345 Thanks :D
  12. I was fortunate enought to have it fitted by Mike down at Performance trim. It took him about an hour to do. I also used mk4 Golf washer jets and relocated them beneath the trailing edge of the bonnet. The only issue there was having to cut some of the fibre glass of the support structure underneath. Personally I am glad Mike did that as it would not be something I'd be comfortable doing to a new bonnet. Other than that, no problems with fit or finish at all. Get one, get one, get one.......
  13. Ok, thanks Supercharged. Must admit they have never been cleaned as far as I am aware - easy job  ? Was just wondering as it's going in for another round of tuning at Stealth in and few weeks and I have some W5DPOs from the G40 ready to go in if needed.
  14. Hopefully a quick question - whats the recommended interval for changing G60 spark plugs? Presume it has a lot to do with their colour etc, but am I right in thinking they will just wear out eventually. I've done about 40k on mine since they were last changed....
  15. Absolutely not chav, but then I would say that as I've got them on mine  To be honest they suit some colours better than others though. Mines a black car, so (obviously) I like it with black. Easier to keep clean as well
  16. No. Cool, thank you :D
  17. I'm going to be chnaging the injectors on my G60 before too long, and had a quick question. Does the inlet manifold need to come off for doing this?
  18. Thanks Jay2. Boost gauge was easy, just take a t piece from the boost hose going to the back of the clocks. For the AFR it is just tapped into the signal wire coming from the stock lambda. And the oil pressure gauges uses a t piece splitter on top of the oil filter housing, and runs off it's own sender. As for which is most useful, definately the boost gauge. However an oil pressure gauge is very useful to have - the last thing you want is loss of oil pressure with the charger. And the AFR (even though it narrow band) tells you a ) that the lambda probe is working and b ) that the fuelling is pretty much as it should be (cycling on tickover and part throttle, rich on WOT, and lean as you come off it). Obviously wideband would be preferable, but it is a good indication.
  19. Autometer, sport comp, 58 or 62mm (can't remember). Excellent quality gauge. Mounted on a custom made pod, incorporating the drivers side tweeter, and sat on top of the dash (there is a pic in my build thread).

    G60 Aircon

There was very little actual info on mine, sorry Shaun. However it also looked like a complete lash up. The passenger under dash tray was cut and badly glued together, and ther were wires everywhere (motly the same colour, amazingly). Diavia is a name that springs to mind though. ACE in Chertsey are air con specialists, and I took mine there when I was thinking of repairing it (12 Chertsey Bridge Road, KT16 8LF, Chertsey, Surrey. Phone: 01932570333). He seemed very knowledgable, and recognised the system, however in the end I decided I'd rather spend the money on performance 8)

    G60 Aircon

I had it on mine Shaun. AFAIK it was a dealer fit one. I took it all out as it hadn't worked in years, and I wanted to make room for the Golf G60 intercooler. The problem you have will be the trumpet between the air intake and the distribution box in the middle of the centre consol, as that had the heat exchanger in it. The LHD one will be different to the RHD one.
  22. AFAIK, G60 alternators are G60 specific. You will be better off flogging that one and finding a 16v one rather than trying to make it fit. Especially if it is a 90a G60 one, as they command a premium (even a 65a one when polished shoudl still fetch a good price)...
  23. Funnily enough I'd say mine was around 20 grand too - in 5 years. Small world.....

    Toothed Belts

Yeah it is a funny one, I've heard of a few people with problems, and a few without. it seems to be down to luck of the draw. I had mine fitted by Darren. We even fitted the sh*t shield from a VR6 to keep things out from the bottom of the belt. The first one failed after I had done a 150mile trip (about 2 months after fitting), and I was on the south circular one night. Nice, brought the whole of south london to a standstill. Second one failed after about another 2 weeks, and I was a mile down the road from my house. I also had a solid tensioner on there. After that I went back to the normal belt and saw now reduction in boost pressure. As you say there is no reason why they shouldn't work. However (and correct me if I'm wrong) the original idea was to use these on G40's when the boost pressure was upped during tuning. This would result in belt slip. On the G60's it was not seen as much of a big problem. The reason for slipping would be increased boost pressure (and increased pressure on the belt). If you have a flowed head or high lift cam then this pressure is automatically reduced as the system breaths more easily. From my experience a good tensioner arm can provide enough tension on a normal belt to stop it slipping.
