    Toothed Belts

Wow, it depends, what do you have at the moment.... I would recommend a) golf g60 intercooler, b) 4 branch manifold (and ideally good exhaust too), and c) flowed head with suitable cam (either piper or schrick). Then obviously with a suitable chip to match that lot. With those on mine (before my capacity increase) I was around 215bhp on one of the more conservative rolling roads.

    Toothed Belts

I had one for a few months - got through 2 belts. Personally I would never have one again...
  3. That's looking really good mate - the headlining looks fab :luvlove: Now, how about all the switchgear changing to red to keep the theme going....
  4. Approx 20-25kg from memory...

    Bonnet Vent or scoop?

that does look quite nice actually... that got intercooler on the other side? Nope, full length Golf G60 intercooler in front of the radiator, so both grills feed air into the intercooler and rad... Oil cooler is where the old intercooler was down in the passenger wheelarch.

    Bonnet Vent or scoop?

Or, to get more air, how about another grill
  7. Any news on potential dates for the rolling road day Phil?
  8. My local dealer retumbled my 2 for £10, which i thought was ok. Left them to me to fit them though
  9. With regards to the door card situation, also the interior door handles will need swapping over as they are different shape (more rounded on the later style interior). They are a direct swap though so not a problem. Later electric window and mirror switches can work with earlier interiors by modifying the loom (been done a few times on here by different people, me included). One issue you will have though is your later interior is RHD, the US one is of course LHD. Therefore from your late 2l interior the mirror switch is on the wrong side. You'd need to source LHD later style interior door pulls really.
  10. This mentions a similar problem - hose from back of throttle body to ECU... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=66964&hilit=quick+throttle+g60 This one mentions problem with hard acceleration being due to dodgy fuel lines... http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=62595&hilit=problem+when+accelerating+g60 Do you have a boost gauge - if does it drop drastically when you lose power? That would suggest the ISV is venting, which would tie in with you going too lean on hard acceleration. Also was it mapped when you fitted the cam?
  11. Always up for a RR session Phil, so definately put me down.
  12. After having been to a couple of places, I am happy with SRR being fairly accurate. Charlie is very open about the fact that other places read high, and is always the first to say that if you want big ego numbers go elsewhere. The main thing is to not try and comapre results fromm one place with another whenever you get tuning work done. I had a 13bhp difference (233 to 246bhp) measured in 2 places, 2 days apart, with identical weather conditions, tire pressure and fuel.
  13. Yep, both curved on mine, although the drivers side is more curved than the passenger side one. I seem to remember Anh (at DDI) did some of these specifically for the British market (RHD) so perhaps mine was left over from that batch.
  14. Strange I could have sworn both of mine were wide angle - will have to go and check now....
  15. I've got these on mine, and they work fine mate. Both mirrors are slightly convex so give much better field of view than the standard ones. Takes a day to get used to it and then it's as if they've always been like that.
  16. They are on the web... http://www.surreyrollingroad.co.uk/ Phone number is 01276 686111. Charlie charges £50 inc vat for a set of power runs, an allow 45 mins including the setup time. Of course if you can find a rolling road day in operation you can probably get it a few quid cheaper, but if you definately want it doing he is very good, and very close by. Doh, beaten to it
  17. Surrey Rolling Road is the one you need mate - near Longcross and about 15mins from J13 M25 or the same from J11. They tend to be 'realistic' rather and optimistic with their figures as well. Luckily they are about 5mins from me, so I am a regular with them whenever I fit anything
  18. Just to emphasize what Henny said really, but big gains come from head work in combination with a good cam, and then if you really want more a capacity increase. The head allows better breathing, but must also be combined with exhaust manifold, and exhaust, and ideally inlet manifold and throttle body. Any restrictions anywhere along the way will result in losses. Also it is very easy to bolt something on and lose power due to the resultant changes in AFR or combustion temps. Above and beyond what you've mentioned is a capacity increase, but that starts being big money. To put it into context, my old setup which was a tired old engine (original 1.8), golf G60 FMIC, 65mm pulley, original injectors, RPM head and Piper cam, original exhaust manifold, and aftermarket stainless exhaust made 212bhp. The biggest contributor to that was the head. Get a well flowed fast road head and cam - and then get it tuned to that - and it will have a huge effect. Also above that and you'll need to think about changing the injectors. Now with a new rebuild (1.9l), golf G60 FMIC, flowed head and throttle body, Schrick cam, 4 branch manifold, red injectors and a 68mm pulley it is making 246bhp (and about 222 lbft). To be honest there is more in there, but the injectors are struggling.
  19. Not a spal, but an 11" after market fan int he original G60 housing. Drilled a few holes and just bolted it in...
  20. Big thank you to Junkie and Supercharged Junkie for the parts. Both sent things out quickly and well packed. Simon that has to be one of the funniest parcels I've seen in ages - looked like someone had sent me a giant boomerang

    Boost Gauge

I like the Autometer Sport Comp range. In 52mm they do a vacuum and 0-20psi one which would probably be suitable for you (I have a slightly larger one in my G60, if you want to check in my build thread). They are very good quality and very reasonably priced.
  22. Is that Richard Gere's car?
  23. They can be a real problem - I had a few living in my car last winter, and yes I mean 'in' the car, as in 'inside'. First I knew of it was a small pile of nuts in the boot which they were storing there  . Took my about a week to catch them all - 3 in total. Thankfully they have not been back again. One thing I was told though - they home and you need to take them a good distance away (like a couple of miles) otherwise they come back....
  24. And just to add something here as it is my exhaust - it has been used on a late style G60 with a Gwerks 4 branch manifold. It comes with a a decat, and what we're really interested in finding out is it a direct fit to a valver...
