    JMC's G60

Went to Performance Trim today, and had the carbon fibre bonnet fitted (from the group buy on here). Big thank you to Mike and Lee down there - great lads, and I can thoroughly recommend them if you are wanting any work done. Anyway, enough chat, time for a pic..
  2. UPDATE AND OFFER ON THE EARLY HEATER CONTROLS... As I have been left in the lurch by someone, I currently have a EL sheet cut and ready to go into and early heater control. As such, for a one time only offer, I can do the EL sheet modified heater control with an invertor (so everything needed basically), in a colour scheme of your choice, for £50 (plus £2 postage), saving you £10. Given the EL sheet and the inverter cost £30 by themselves, this is quite a saving for something which makes such a huge difference to the way these work. Come on guys, what are you waiting for :D
  3. Possibly mate, but with may last experience of taking the clocks apart (where it tooks me ages to get the needles back in the right places), it's an area I've steered clear of. It would be the same principle as the stalks and switches though, if you want to give it a go. It would case a case of dremeling out sections of the black plastic, replacing them with the new bits, and then relocating slightly the leds so they were directly behind the icons. In fact the leds may be diffuse enough already to not need moving. The good thing is that you don't get up close to them, so they wouldn't need the finish needed for the switchgear. The only bit that makes me nervious though is the damn needles (and of course taking the clocks apart  )....
  4. Cheers guys, and you know I'm sure I've missed some bits out too - that seems too short
  5.  cheers mate, I'll look into those if we can't get the golf ones working on saturday - don't want to spend any more than I have to really.
  6. Ah right, cheers das golf. Do you know if they are any good?
  7. Eeerrr. not being funny but Storm who?? Just had a look on Storm development spage and there wasn't anything on there. Suppose the thing is, I'd rather have the washers on the bonnet somewhere, as I have an SWG scuttle cover, which means everytime the ECU comes out the wipers come off, so I don't really want them attached by tubes. Anybody used these Storm ones then? What are they like (quality wise)?
  8. Here's a quick outline of what is required. Get a coffee  ..... Get a high res picture of the icons you are wanting to modify. Into Photoshop and play around with it until you get a clean, black and white image, the right shape etc. You want black everywhere except the icons which should be white so it comes out clear (expect to spend about an hour doing this right). Resize so it prints at the correct size, and print 4 copies on acetate, 2 normal and 2 reflected horizontally. Cut out and leave a bit of black all around. Stick them back to back (hence the need to have 2 normal and 2 reflected) making sure they line up. Sticking them back to back protects the printed side. This is hard as they are small. Then stick the 2 pairs together, so it is 4 layers thick. Dremel/cut out the parts of the stalk you want to replace. Line the inside with acetate, and a piece of white paper (helps diffuse the light and makes the icons look white when not illuminated). Few layers of clear acetate, to bring up the height so it's fluch with the surroundings. The icon sheet on top of that. Filler round the edge. Dry, sand, fill, dry sand fill, etc iuntil its smooth. Primer, sand, primer, sand. Paint, sand, paint, remove excess paint from the icons, lacquer. THEN..... Think about the lighting. Led's, ideally 120 degree diffused ones. Spend ages, bending leads, positioning, bending leads again so they line up. Do the contortionists act of getting them inside the bit needed, along with a resistor and wiring. Make sure it still works. You'll need, double sided tape, dremel, sharp (and mean sharp) scissors, filler, primer, black paint, lacquer, leds, wiring, power supply (for testing), soldeing iron, solder, insulating tape, tweezers, wire strippers, etc. etc. As I say, it takes time. I've done a few mods like this now, and it took me 5 evenings to do that stalk....
  9. Anybody  - what do people do when relocating washer jets???
  10. Thanks Simon. I must admit it was harder than I thought it was going to be. Even then I managed to get it not quite lined up right (as you can see from the horizontal lines on the headlight icon not being quite as bright as the rest). Really don't know with the MFA stalk - can't even get into the damn thing at the moment :?
  11. Cheers guys - I seem to have done all the easy ones already though, they are getting harder and harder each time now . That MFA one is going to be an absolute pain - really complex design and no space inside because of all the existing switch gear.
  12. Now who was it who said 'indicator stalk, now there's a pointless mod' . To be clear, this made changing the spoiler switch look like changing a fuse, and I'll not be doing it again... Apart from when I do the MFA stalk to match :D
  13. I'm getting one of the carbon fibre bonnets from the group buy, and don't want to cut holes in it to refit the washer jets. I have been advised that Mk4 Golf washers would be suitable as they fit just under the trailing edge of the bonnet. Now I've got them there doesn't look to be much room at all under there to fit them. Has anybody actually done this or seen it done, as I can't find anyone who can given me some pointers on this  ?
  14. Fanastic thread, and a great project mate :salute:. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses.
  15. Cheers Kev - I was hoping to keep it looking pretty standard under there, hence I'm gravitating towards the Porka one. Those others do look cool though :D Supercharged, cheers for the info. I've had a look on the Vortex site as well - they're giving a lightly different number (04 at the end rather than 03), which they are saying is something to do with it being a different pressure. Think it might to time to check wih the friendly Porsche dealer....
  16. Like the idea of the ball bearing and a hammer approach - hadn't thought of that  So, tell me more about these SX and aeromotive regulators.....
  17. Looking to get a Bosch 3.5bar fuel pressure regulator for my G60, but am struggling to find any of these for sale. Anybody know where I can get one from please?
  18. Definately check on the plugs mate - that has happened to me before. Hit my horn and the foglights went on, switched the foglights on and the horn sounded.

Looking good mate :D . That spoiler (while not to my taste I must admit) does look pretty impressive...
  20. That sounds more like the coolant sensor to me...
  21. I went back through ETKA too mate - it's the same for the early ones as fas I can tell. Mines a 92 G60 and thats what I have on there.
  22. This is the part - you'll need the fixtures and fittings that go with it too. Don't know whether it works with air con systems or not though.
  23. With regards to sill plates and dials, you might want to check out the Dub Design Industries (DDi) website as well. They do some electroluminescent dials which are really, nice, and some very good quality sill plates too. I have pics of both within my build thread. I believe Awesome are now stocking some DDi stuff, so it might be worth checking with them. As for the cool/chav piece, it depends on which you go for, and the rest of the mods really.
