  1. That is an incredible reading especially.... "The most worrying thing is that you don't seem to get the fact that it was totally and completely your fault - both the accident and the global humiliation you are getting now - which is a bit sad, because even Pavlov's dog got it in the end - come to think of it, he never stacked his car either...." Hi

Fantastic high dynamic range images..... P.S. nice cars as well....
  3. You know, I just couldn't figure out from the wiring diagram how to do that and get it to work. Glad to hear there is a way though....
  4. Yeah, when I did mine, the electric windows was a relatively easy job to do (when I realised that the wiring diagram I had was from a lhd car). The mirror switch was a bit more nasty, and in the end I had to reverse the wires on each motor to get them to move in the correct direction.
  5. The card itself will fit, but the wiring for the electric mirrors and windows needs to be redone if you want to use the later style switches as all the connections are different. A few people have done the conversion and there are a few threads on it, including something in the knowledge base.
  6. Well, with the nights long and dark I've ordered a pair of these from autolamps-online (£24.99). Will report back on how they are. Turns out these guys have not got any in stock at the moment either. Nice of them to mention that on their website. :x Grrr. Apparently everyone is waiting for deliveries from Philips. Hopefully I'll get these while the nights are still long.
  7. Set of KW Variant 1's would be a good start Rog. You should be able to get those for under £600. I got mine done by Darren and it transformed the car (had Gmax -40mm shocks and springs previously, and the Variant 1's are streets ahead in terms of quality). Lower it 40mm(ish) as a start and enjoy the improvement. If you're still struggling after that then you may want to go own the uprated ARB route, but that can be done easily later if needed.
  8. Cheers dr_mat, will keep an eye out for one....
  9. Yeah, I've got one of those systems - drastically cuts down on the noise.
  10. My passenger door lock looks to be cracked at the point where the door pin would pass into it (pics below). Now when I try and open the door from the outside it is really stiff, but seems to be fine from the inside. When my handle broke I replaced the lever in the handle with one of daves16v ones but doing that didn't seem to improve it. The hole lines up well with the pin, although the pin has lost the plastic sheath around it. Question is would this crack in the lock result in the handle being stiff, and does anyone have any experience with the trimsport style chromed replacements as if it does need replacing don't really want to go through the stealers???

    JMC's G60

Nothing hugely noticeable _leon_, more a sort of piece of mind thing really. Wanted to make sue the air coming in was a cool as possible. Cheers for the tip re. the ties - will try that.
  13. Think if it's not a permanent fix I'll be tempted to make a runner/roller myself using a small bearing and a little wheel. Will let you know if (when) it comes lose again.

he will have or should have :-) used the existing live and earth off the original light , that way you keep the switch in the boot latch to operate it Yep, used the feed from the original boot light and extended the cable round the other side of the boot, so it works just like the original light. Noticed occasionally it needs a little tap to get it lit (don't know if this is typical of neons or not). Think if I can be bothered to do it again I'll use white LED's instead. And as for the cold air feed _leon_, it was good to see the temp coming down quick as soon as I get some speed up. I do quite a bit of stop/start driving in London, so thought it best to do anything to lower the temps. Need to find a good way to anchor it to the back of the bumper now.....
  15. Damn, there was me thinking I'd cured it. I did have to clip it into place and it was a really tight fit, so I'll see if it does come off again soon.....
  16. Finally got closure on this one and got round to fixing it :D :D Really simple in the end - on the window regulator there are 2 arms with a small wheel on the end of each one. On mine the wheel had come off one arm, so the window would stick on the way down. Popped the wheel back on the end of the arm and bingo - all fixed, no new bits needed, glass didn't need removing. Serves me right for not fixing it for ages I suppose. I wish all my jobs were that easy.

Finished off the job of sound deadening the doors today. After chatting with James at Audioscape last year I picked up form Skinz, cleaning spray, moisture guard and wave diffuser. Also had some of their sticky neoprene sheets laying around. Timeconsuming job, but not hard really. Good to have both doors done now, and they feel really solid. Also tried their Rhino skinz as a replacement for the moisture barrier - nasty stuff - much prefer just uing Dynamat Extreme or normal Skinx for that job. 1st New Year job done - yay :D :D
  18. Cheers Gixxeruk, the plan was to make it look standard fit. I am hoping the LEDs last OK, as I'll have to rip it apart to replace any of them
  19. I made one of the high level ones too, by grafting it into the trim that goes round the rear window. Still works well, and at least the local chelsea tractors can see me now :D
  20. Okay, so is the one in the Golf+ magazone actually a 2l G60 engine rather than a 1.8? That would explain 240bhp.....

    TomTom Satnav

Mine didn't work either :( . Was bought from Halfords and has now been more than 28 days since purchase with me being away over Christmas. Have to go in tomorrow and see if they will honour the exchange. After talking with TomTom it seems to be a fault with the SD card reader in the unit, so fingers crossed I get a working one eventually.
  22. But the weight wont have anything to do with the power will it :?
  23. Picked up a copy of Golf+ over Christmas and there is a Golf with a G60 engine in there with what are described as reasonably mild mods (68mm pulley, chipped, Jabba stage 4 charger, flowed head, 4 branch manifold). They're claiming approx 240bhp for this  The car is on p98 of the Jan 07 issue.. Now the question is, are we G60 owners all missing a trick here, or is this figure a fantasy one?? I thought these power figures were only capable as a result of capacity increases, or BBM chargers. Any thoughts......
  24. I'd second Davids quote about getting good quality ones - I've had to have some of mine replaced again and they only done 12k miles. Made sure I got VAG ones this time.
  25. Sound deadened the passenger door, with loads of nice bits from the boys at Audioscape. Only the drivers door to do now. Woo Hoo...
