example - i originally had a red charged vr that i paid many £1000's for. Liked it but sold it after a while I now have the black'un that cost me buttons and has had all the work done in my garage - i know everything about it and what on it , under it, in it etc and love it far more than any of the 5 vr's i've had...... i think thats a big factor as well cos i could never feel the same about a car that i bought completed as one i've done myself

AARRRGGHHH!!!!!! Dilema - veedubs - vw specialists up here - reckon all coilpack vr6 golfs are obd2 this car has a coilpack but is an M plate and i thought obd2 was on P & R only - or is that just highline???? HELP!!!!!! If this is an obd2 i really fancy it for running around and then switching stuff over. whats the best golf forum to get definitive info???

down to the individual preference and skill - personally i buy cheap and then put my own mark on - theres no way on earth i would pay others to do what i've done to mine - even if i would, it would have cost an absolute fortune and i couldnt have afforded it

i'm with yans on this one - get a gtx 18i, canny performance - i had 2 and i loved them - longer legged than golfs as well (gbox ratios) and better cruisingmpg depending how you use it and definately dirt cheap these days just squint & it could be the 'C' :roll:

What d'you reckkon to this as a runabout to get the 'C' off the road? the £1600 one click me! Are 95 golfs highlines or obd2? Any other advice on the golfs? Edit: Link shortened ;) - dinkus

IIRC this happened in Sunderland and has been ongoing for a number of years now - unless there was a similar incident. At the time, i'm sure there were other factors (can't remember what but the driver appeared to be at fault from what i remember of the initial reports) and the bus travelled over a long distance - it wasn't just a momentary slip.

oi - the hill.... I had a gtx scirocco for the wife and it was an absolute minter - it was well nippy, full history and less than £500 years ago. with regard to insurance, i was paying fully comp classic insurance with craig and suttar for about £150-180/year. I wouldn't rule them out or golf gti's (but the rocco's come cheaper and i quite like them) cos you can get good classic policies with declared mileage etc. GOOD CALL YANDARDS.

here to help...... if you fancy a stretch of budget - i'm prob selling the tdi and defiantely the audi cab ;) - few quid more than the £500 tho :(

i always found nissans etc expensive for parts and higher on insurance - unless others know better? people buy them for reliability but old cheap cars are all going to potentially need money spent on them. you can't go wrong with vw's citreons and vauxhalls as the parts are dirt cheap - i really wouldn't touch an almera etc. - If you do a search on ebay by distance, theres always bargains on there cos very few cars get good money on there as you generally can't look at them - hence search local and have a look first :) Heres some prices from lots at Birtley Auctions chris - well i can see you've retained the mirrors, coxy, shame about the other bits you haven't bothered putting back on yet :)

i've got to admit i never fond the corrado too impractical - baby seats fit snug in the bucketed back seats and even large prams fit in the boot - i found it fine fine fine!!!!! Bugger it - tell your mate to buy a corrado, never mind all these ramblings about esates and tdi's etc - he'll need something exciting to escape from the humdrum side of family life and kiddies - and my little girl just lurve's the fact that her dad turns up with the coolest car at scholl - all her mates say so.......

which? Audi 118k - totally silky smooth mechanics, wheels unblemished, half leather courtesy of ebay just fitted, roof looks virtually new. golf 106k, been cat'd - wings, bonnet, bumper replaced, nothing serious but who cares at that price - engine helthy and 6 months MOT still on :wink:

its yours for £1200 :wink: the other bonnet in shot is an audi convertible - wor lass didn't want it and is keeping her polo!!!! thats for sale £2999 - reasonable family car? - 4 seats and boot - optional roof :roll: and half leather.......

Bora tdi's are great value - i've just got a 'p' plate golf tdi gl for £600 - thats cheap as chips man... now has gti suspension all round for the grand total of £80 - BARGAIN - and only 45 mins to fit :shock:
