they can't have been the cleverest then cos it shouldn't have been that hard - everyone knows where it is - anyway, vw part no and cost is £28.00+vat - 021145933c Aftermarket belts either Daico or QH, the correct length and ribs part code is 7pk1270 - i can get belts for about £15.00 + postage - pm me if your struggling and i can get you one posted today and by comparison to your GSF contact, both my vw supplier and aftermarket supplier know them as alternator belts - give the gsf guy a kick up the ass :)

alternator belt? if you take it off there may be identifying marks that show how many ribs there are and what length it is - at least they do when new. The code will take the format of 6pk1365 - 6 being the ribs and 1365 the length. from this code, any motor factors can order a belt based on length and ribs - at least up here in Sunny Sunderland they can - not so good down south are they Kev??? :) BTW Mr Wire, i've fitted the 7 rib belt and its first class - theres a slight deviation which will have to be adjusted with washers to make it perfect but i've never had any issues or slippage since the 3.1 went in last week - i've got a spare if you want one sending and i'll try and get some pics up for you - i've been quoted up to £25 from some outlets for the same belt as the one i'm getting for £15 so i'll just have to add postage to that if you want one.

when referring to a 25bhp shot, this will be on a normally aspirated car - a forced induction car is more receptive to NOS and the gain can be as much as double - therefore a 25 shot setup will give up to 50 - the attached pic shows the configuration that me and chris are doing for the VR - the advantage being that each cylinder gets the same amount of NOS as each inlet has its own nozzle with a similar travel distance. OH! And BTW, the equipment we used is supplied by Trevor Langfield of the Topgear feature fame. Stanbates - urban myth - you'll get chris on shortly ranting about people who set up NOS badly wrecking their engines - its the setup thats important and as you can see from the history of Chris's car and mine to a lesser degree, set up correclty theres never been a problem.

if this turns in to a recommendation thread for leccy's you can't get better than Dave in the North East - can't remember the company name but he's resolved many an issue for myself and I recommended him to Chrisvr6nos who's used him numerous times as well - he's a clever bloke who loves cars and modding and has done wiring and all sorts for engine conversions of all wierd concoctions and is often used by Veedubs near newcastle when they shoehorn an engine into something daft like a polo or lupo etc. TOP BLOKE - Dave - 07909 823610 - tell him Paul with the black corrado passed on his number.

...kindly invite for us all to play nicely, kev - i even said he's rs was nice??!! maybe you mistook my thread for a one from chris - whats the phrase?.. bag o w4nk? :)
-
dodgy old thread this - first time i've read it today - i goes from a Ford Chav-type - no offence intended - pretending to love a rare corrado and wanting to buy a house, to then exposing his true chav colours and slating corrado's and that he can seriously murder them. Anyway, remember your rs is seriously modded - a std rs would not touch a std vr, plus you were driving an auto. a std vr pulls 155mph and 0-60 in less than 6.5 sec. not many rs chav-mobiles :) can do that. if you want to compare like for like, come and play with me and the wire or chrisvr6nos....... unless you bring an R34 skyline or something else that costs 50k plus, you'll only see our tailpipes :) std rs V std vr, vr al the way modded rs V modded vr, vr all the way :) - nice rs, as rs's go, BTW

fitted 3.1 vr with front a rear vf mounts - need advice
H8RRA replied to H8RRA's topic in Engine Bay
worstat tickover, like most things - really felt like the whole engine was mounted directly onto the chassis - like i said, may have another look at l=it some time but chucked in the oem as a quick fix. -

H8RRA replied to H8RRA's topic in Engine Bay
totally - vf front okay - vf rear seems excessive, like a double decker diesel running an engine of a bag of hammers - couldn't even wait til lthe weekend to take it off - may try refitting at some point but rather than buggering about, wanted to establish whether the original mount made a substantial difference as the lsd, 6 speed, rear mount and 3.1 went in all together -

Audi Vs VW, A3 Vs Golf..which would you have?
H8RRA replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in General Car Chat

wide track meaning what? its the springs i was hoping may fit
-
so how did you find the fitting process? - still got my mk4 setup lying around waiting to go on a vr......

remove the cover trim and there should be an allen key winding handle stowed on the motor - you'll find the reciprocal allen socket to open/close the roof behind a l'il flap with an arrow on it indicating the direction to move it - this also acts as an inhibitor switch so if you don't put it back over the allen socket when you're done, the roof won't operate if your 'c' has late switchgear for the sunroof, you shold be able to use the passat switches to eliminate/prove the switch problem as they're he same

a plmbers torch doesn't cost a great deal to get sufficient heat on the bolts - don't like the sound of the fact you've rounded the heads!!!! Lots of heat and a wall drive socket required, me thinks
-
your wasting your money on milk when you can get petrol that cheap!!!! I've been putitng it on my cornflakes and flaming them - they come out a bit crispy tho ;)

extreme vibrations being transmitted - can't see anything obvious - wondering if its a characteristic of the rear mount as that wasn't fitted before this engine install - but its far too severe to leave on if thats the case - anyone had experience of such? will have a look when i get the chance but any idea's wuld be nice
