According to the Torygraph Motoring Section, they're officially out on the 14th November. Looks like a dealer's 'testing' it :-)

ardandy, can't recommend you any VW specific garages in the area, but 24v Renshaw (on the forum) may be able to help you out with mechanicals, (do a search for a thread called 'Offering My Services') and he's based in York IIRC. There was a tatty looking but seemingly sound VR for sale a little while back on Tong Road in Leeds which the guy just couldn't shift. If it's still for sale (was on Autotrader), I reckon you could have it for about £1500. Good luck mate, Tom

DieselGolfWales, I've been considering it on mine... :-)

Blue_Joe, can you PM me your details and I'll do an account transfer for a couple of ££ as I can't Paypal I'm afraid. Cheers, Tom -
Can anyone suggest where I might find a couple of inlet hoses for the turbo on my Audi? I've tried the stealers, but they want £120 or so for a pair, so if anyone knows of a cheap supplier (and I emphasise the word cheap) let me know. Cheers, Tom

Sorry man, I didn't get to the scrapper today, but I'll drop you a line as soon as I do. Cheers, Tom

Will do next time I'm there. I might be going tomorrow as I need a couple of replacement tyres for the Audi. I'll find out how much they charge for a set. Cheers, Tom
-
There's about 3 sets in my local srappy, they weren't just a 'sport' option by the look of it. Anyone who's interested let me know as I'll be going there soon for bits.

Ouch. I'll echo everyone else on here, and say that I'm glad you're OK. Good luck with it all, Tom
-
I'll add my name to the list of people sans 'rado but still posting. Stick around man, it'll be good to have you about. Tom

Blue_Joe, I can't paypal you, but I'll donate a couple of quid if you can PM me details of where to send a cheque/bank transfer. I'm just about to go off on Holiday though so I'll do it next week. Cheers, Tom -
Yup, Audi's were galvanised (but it doesn't save you from rust). Got some round the arches on my Audi.... Not much on the 'rado for a car of its age though. Cheers, Tom

Good work that man! Nice one, Tom -
Back up to 3 cars again? Corrado, Golf and Polo? Sad to hear the Passat's gone, but I bet your fuel bill's less :-) Good luck with the House(s) to you both, Tom
-
Good luck with it all mate. I know how you feel having just made the transition from Corrado to Audi 80. Cheers, Tom
-
How old's the Golf mate? If it's a Mk2 I've got a Haynes manual that should have the info in? Cheers, Tom

TBH (and this is from another non-mechanically minded man) I would have expected the oil light to come on if the level had dropped too low. How did she discover the there wasn't enough oil? Was it below the minimum on the dipstick? Cheers, Tom

There used to be an excellent service around Kimbolton that ran a Postbus (a minibus that took the mail and people) but I think they cancelled it. In York, First have the city by the balls and it cost more to cross York than it does London FFS. That and the fact that the drivers for the most part seem to be inconsiderate numpties as far as not hitting cyclists is concerned... (2 times and counting).

RB, when I first downloaded it Media Player would have none of it, however it works fine on Realplayer. Cheers, Tom -
Might also be worth checking your tyres for 'eggs' as that was the cause of my recent instability. Cheers, Tom

Unlucky, but I'm glad it was nothing too serious. Just thinking how good she looked on the back of the recovery truck though :-) Good luck, Tom

The whole conversation (if you can call my barely restrained laughter at the tosh he was coming out with a conversation) lasted about 5 minutes. He started with the 700bhp VR comment and then kept embelishing this imaginary car with whatever tommyrot came into his head I think. If he hadn't been alone with my car for five minutes afterwards while I walked to my friends' flat, I would have put him straight on a few things. As it was, I merely asked pointed questions such as: "I take it it's blown?" [blank look] and "What are you using for delivery, Haldex, 4 Motion...?" [blank look...no wait, I've heard of 4-motion...I'll say that]. :-)

As I was parking up to pick up some friends on Saturday the young security guard came over and said "Nice car mate." "Thanks" I replied, "it's for sale if you're interested." "No, I've got a VR6 with a rebuilt titanium block, and 4 turbo chargers that pushes out 700bhp, tops out at 197mph. The whole thing only weighs 300KG and gets to 60 in 3.1 seconds this is because of its carbon fibre bonnet, gull-wing doors, passat front end, golf interior and air-scoop above the windscreen. It's running a 4-motion system that I can turn on and off with a switch on the dashboard." This conversation too place over about 5 minutes, with me finding it increasingly difficult to keep a straight face. Make no mistake, the guy was being serious and trying to make me believe this. Rather than laugh in a derisory manner I decided it was best to play along as he was about to be left watching my car. Having spoken to my friends, I have ascertained that he actually drives a Corsa. Still chuckling... :D

Corrado spotting! Was it you - [October 2005]

Not a 'rado, but I saw PhatVR6's Mk4 'Stealth Golf.' The wheels gave it away (but that was how I spotted it) in the car park at ASDA on Tuesday night. Nice -
It can be for either pressure or level according to the manual. Beware the thinner oils as this can cause the light palpitations as I found out when using 0-40. When is the light coming on?
