Yeah but the clio is the only car i have driven that had crapper headlights than the corrado and mk1 golf they where just as bad as the old mini headlights  it is really worth doing, unless yours have been done allready by the previous owner? Make sure you change the arms as well as the blades, for either lupo or audi tt ones, its not the blades that are the problem, its because VW thought they would save a bit of cash by using the same wiper arms as the passat, unfortunately the passat had a more upright windscreen so the pivot on the wiper arms was bent back a bit more so was under constant tension by the spring, but as the corrado screen is more swept back the wiper arms actually sit on the stops and dont put any spring pressure on the screen. you can usually get away with grinding a bit off the stops so it lets the arm pivot down more and then just get the retro fit aero blades to the original arms.

Shame he wasn't underneath it when it fell, would have definately been worthy of a Darwin award :cuckoo:

if you search for part numbers it tells you all the models it fits, so all the corrado tanks are corrado specific.
-
These are the various tanks listed for the corrado 535201075H fuel tank / F >> 50-M-035 000 55LTR. / 9A,2E,ADY KR 535201075AD fuel tank / F 50-N-000 001>> 70ltr. / "J..":9A; KR 535201075AE fuel tank with narrow fuel filler neck (22mm) for lead-free fuel 70ltr. / 9A 535201075H fuel tank / F >> 50-L-005 732 55LTR. / PG 535201075M fuel tank / F 50-L-005 733>> 50-M-035 000 55LTR. / PG 535201075AA fuel tank / F 50-N-000 001>> 70ltr. / PG; "J..":PG,ABV 535201075L fuel tank with narrow fuel filler neck (22mm) for lead-free fuel / F >> 50-L-005 734 55LTR. / PG 535201075N fuel tank with narrow fuel filler neck (22mm) for lead-free fuel / F 50-L-005 735>> 50-M-035 000 55LTR. / PG 535201075AB fuel tank with narrow fuel filler neck (22mm) for lead-free fuel / F 50-N-000 001>> 70ltr. / PG,ABV,2E, ADY It looks like you probably need 535201075AB which according to vagcat was only fitted to the corrado, in fact all of the tanks listed are specific to the corrado according to vagcat.

will probably be a dead aerial amplifier in the aerial base, they get full of water and corrode up, you can either take it apart and rip the amplifier out and bypass it as it does bugger all for FM anyway, or get a new aeriel base. do a search for it as it has been covered a few times before. you should be able to test it by dropping the rear of the headlining down a bit, unplug the aerial and just poke a bit of wire about 30cm long into the centre of the connector, this is usually enough to get a half decent signal, and should point to a knackered aerial.

it entirely depends on whether you are paying someone to do the work for you, or if you can do at least some of the work yourself, labour seems to be the most expensive bit whatever car you have. Parts prices on whole aren't too bad and most mechanical stuff is shared with other models so should be readily available for some time, but some body and trim parts are now becomming obsolete so your only option is second hand or sourcing old stock and usually paying a premium for it. If you are thinking of getting a corrado as a cheap alternative to running an audi forget it, i would expect the costs to be pretty close to the audi if not more due to its age, you have to remember that corrado's are getting on a bit now and even a low miler is going to need some things doing as things like bushes and hoses deteriorate with age not just useage. Routine servicing is simple enough though and shouldnt cost any more than most cars, unless you use a garage who think they can charge a premium due to the rarity of the corrado.

Anyone know where I can get a US spec front bumper??
coolrado replied to VR6C's topic in Suppliers Forum
you will be very unlikely to find anyone on here or in the uk in general who has one for sale as there arent that many US spec ones over here, although they do turn up from time to time. So if you do want a US spec bumper getting one from the US might be your best bet. your other option is maybe getting another uk spec one, cutting the plate recess out and have it plastic welded and filled onto yours, not really much more work than getting a us spec and filling in the side repeaters. -
thanks for the reply. :salute:

As far as i know yeah Loads of vw's had cats and lambda's fitted before it became legislation though.
-
it's for a G60 though so should have a lambda sensor.

My sister made me a "CakeRado" for my Bday!

the Camtec remote control car corrado body shells make excellent jelly moulds by the way, just let the jelly cool down a little before you pour it in or the shell will distort, you can even use two jelly flavours, fill it half way and let it set a bit, then fill the rest for the two tone look 8) -
Whatever that hole is for it doesnt really matter as the lambda sensor hole is in the cat pipe or cat bypass pipe, further back, so it could either be capped off or used for something else.
-
you just need the calipers and a conversion hose kit, use the original corrado carriers. you can get away without the hose conversion kit (on a G60 at least) if you just use the entire rear brake pipe system from the mk4 golf, as thats what i did, not sure it would work on a vr though?

first check that it's not just the heatshield on the cat that is rattling, the tabs that hold the heatshield on allways break and you can either just rip the heatshield off (just dont park over long dry grass), get it welded or put some big jubilee clips around it. if its not the heatshield then yes its worth checking that the cat hasn't melted inside and become blocked, but there is usually a reason why it would have melted. otherwise just find someone with vagcom and get it scanned for faults, could just be a dodgy sensor.

Brilliant start to the new series :notworthy: Nice to see the the Hammond crash hasn't made them go all health and safety on us :cuckoo: hopefully the rest of the series will be just as good as it allready looks better than previous years. Its on this friday or you should be able to get it on the BBC i-Player -
Aah but we all know not to believe anything that a halfords 'specialist' says! Thule suggest using the short roof pack because the roof is short! Using the kit as recommended gives it a more stable footprint & therfore secures the load more safely. But hey, people have found it bolts on without and 'haven't had any problems yet' so it must be OK. ... actually if you fit the short roof pack to the corrado according to the instructions you dont use the rear mounting points so its much less secure, the mounting points are no closer together than a lot of cars including the audi coupe which used the same oem rack as the corrado and that doesnt use the short roof pack, also none of the other manufacturers use an extension kit. the rep from thule actually said it was a mistake and that it should be fitted without the extension pack. yeah most of the halfords guys are total muppets but the guy i know in halfords is actually a very knowledgeable guy who has had several front page mag featured vw's all done by him
-
the short roof extension should not be needed for the corrado, according to a mate of mine who works in halfords, it is a mistake as thule dont seem to know that the corrado has mounting points above the rear side windows, mine also fits fine without it and the original VW roof rack fits the same way.

Nah you should still be able to adjust them with the rear screen demister on, sounds like there maybe a dodgy earth or broken wire somewhere.
-
Are you sure thats for the lambda? as the lambda is normally mounted in the intake to the cat or cat bypass pipe.
-
It's also worth looking into Mont Blanc roof bars, I have a set of thule bars and a set of Mont Blanc roof bars for the corrado, and i much prefer the mounting design on the Mont Blanc bars, It spreads the load better. I cant really see any reason why the thule bars would be any better than the halfords or paddy hopkirk ones apart from maybe looking a bit nicer, do you know if there is any difference in load capacity? Are there any Motorworld stores near you, as the roof bars they sell are actually pretty good.
-
Yeah they are all mingers IMO

a bit :offtopic: i was thinking of putting little stickers down the doors so i could make a tally of the various critters i have hit especially in my van  , i set off at 5am to go to work and it seems like most animals reactions are even slower at that time of the morning, especially pigeons, pheasant, and rabbits, they just sit there seemingly oblivious to the van heading towards them and you can guarantee if you swerve they swerve the same way :cuckoo: I usually manage to avoid the stationary ones with the van as they usually just freeze so you can drive over them without harm, but the corrado is a bit lower :( Its the ones that jump out of the hedgerows just as your passing that usually end up as road kill, in the last couple of years they have cost me 2 grills, 2 windscreens, 1 mirror, 1 headlight and now a cv boot
-
just changed my left hand side outer cv boot which had split and splattered grease all over the inside of my newly re-furbed BBS's :censored: , i only changed all of them a few months ago so i blamed the split on a dodgey boot, but it turned out to have been torn open by a rabbit  i hit one a couple of days ago and it looks like it got revenge by wrapping itself around the cv boot :pukeright: I think i have now got the hang of doing the cv boots as it only took me 30 minutes 8)
