Repair / Strengthen / ReCover / Stealth my parcel shelf...
coolrado replied to Jim's topic in ICE 'n' Secure
i wouldnt bother with thin mdf as it just bows under its own weight so its pretty pointless for stiffening. some nice strong pre seasoned batons in front and behind the chav speakers   should stiffen it up nicely and instead of using tacks/nails just get a cheapo staple gun (9.99 for a decent draper one in b&q) the best place i have found for acoustic cloth and box cloth is the parts counter in maplin they have plenty of styles/ colours in stock and are very cheap compared to halfrauds and you can buy as much or as little as you want -
Corrado T-Shirts ideas/Pre-Production NEW DESIGNS IN! 10/11

anyone got any decent cut-away diagrams of the g-lader or the vr6 lump that would work well on a t-shirt or even a good line drawing of a c? -
Corrado T-Shirts ideas/Pre-Production NEW DESIGNS IN! 10/11

how about some vr6 ones with a pic of the engine block and the words vr6PACK across the chest  just an idea  g-unit for us lot and vr6pack for vr6 owners sounds fair dunnit :?: i like the idea of having a cutaway of the g-lader as its quite a cool design internally but i do think writing should be kept to a minimum i allways find if the writing on a t-shirt is quite small people make more of an effort to read it, big writing just seems a bit tacky really  -
well my boss thinks im still in work according to the vans tracker but i am at home so the view isnt that bad.

it is the original downpipe with standard oem mounts, there is only about 50mm above and about 25mm clearence below it where it is hitting does that not sound right
-
found out what the vibration was last night the base of the downpipe is hitting the steering rack under hard acceleration and gets worse as the engine warms up, the exhaust doesnt leak anywhere and i have recently replaced all three engine mounts so i am a bit puzzled as to why it is doing it :? could the flexi section in the downpipe have been stretched when the engine mount failed causing the downpipe to sit slightly lower? any ideas what i could do to remedy this as the downpipes are a bit pricey aren't they and i have quite a few other things to replace at the moment :(

and kevhaywire beat me to it how can you resist commenting on that though
-
well thats nice to know but i fail to see what that has to do with a heater matrix   though you did say you where hearing slurping and gurgling noises
-
you can test the coil by connecting 12v across the terminals with a spark plug connected to the end of a lead with the spark plug touching ground and then it should spark as you disconnect the supply to the coil or try checking the supply to the coil as you turn the engine over to check that it pulses there is a resistor (i think)on the rotor arm in the dizzy which blew on mine once causing it to cut out

sounds reasonable any one else got these ??

WISHBONE x2 £ 43.76 BALL JOINT x2 £ 13.56 from http://www.vwspares.co.uk/ the wishbones come with the bushes allready fitted as it saves a lot of hastle
-
erm.... i think i might just get standard ones and just drive slower  as i cant really afford to spend that much on disks at the mo as i have just ordered new wishbones, bushes, ball joints, thermostat+housing and will need a new backbox very soon :( any cheaper suggestions
-
i also wanted to avoid the grooved disks as i have heard they need to be declared on the insurance =£££££ which is pretty anoying as it actually makes the car safer. how much did they set you back??

i was meant to pick up a drivers door from sheffield on saturday at 6pm but almost forgot about it as i was round at a friends house working on his alfa 155 :pukeright: i looked at my watch and it was 4.15 pm  , well i still managed to get to the other side of sheffield from wrexham by 6pm  but on the way back the brakes didnt feel quite right they felt a bit soft and juddery, and on sunday they felt even worse the pedal was actually pushing back at me when i was braking :( this morning i took all four wheels off to take them to the tyre place to get the tyres swapped on to my new bbs rm's and the front disks are all crazed with a couple of large cracks running from the middle to the outside edge  i think the new ebc greenstuff pads might have been too much for them  i will try and get some pics up later to show the crazing any suggestions on new disks? i dont really want to spend a fortune and i really dont want grooved disks as i bought the greenstuff pads to reduce the amount of dust that was collecting on the wheels and grooved disks would create more dust wouldnt they ?

do you mean when the internal heater fan is switched on/off or the engine cooling fan turns on/off ?? if you are talking about the heater fan it could just be dry bearings on the fan motor or something stuck in the fan? the hissing noise could be a worn out relay arking across its contacts ?? do you get any interference through your stereo ?
-
i dont normally like white cars or those inpro lights but that looks bloody good 8) wheels suit it well too 8) those badges might look good colour coded too welcome to corrado ownership 8)
-
you shouldnt need to take the door panel off to get the switch out it should just pull out :|
-
first thing to check on the mirrors could just be the fuse, or the plug on the back of the mirror adjuster switch the plug was disconnected on my c when i bought it as its quite a loose connection 8)
-
any idea what could be causing the random vibrations then?

Stub Axle Rear Left (All Models) Febi 18350 £69.53 Stub Axle Rear Right (All Models) Febi 18352 £69.53 from http://www.vwspares.co.uk/corrado_clutch.html might find them cheaper elsewhere

does the rubber damper ring actually do anything as all there is left of mine is the small rubber core :? its been missing on mine since i have had it and i sometimes get odd vibrations through the car under acceleration i have changed all three engine mounts, the front shock absorbers, the wheel bearings are all ok, it did improve when i changed the clutch but it is still very annoying. i have new front wishbones with bushes and new ball joints on order but if replacing them makes no difference could it be down to the rubber damper?? and if so can they be bought seperately or are they only availiable as part of a new drive shaft??

try some of the online audio stores car audio direct, hendon car audio, mcs direct.........ect most of them will sell stuff at half the price of anything in halfrauds and usually beat the e-bay prices too. i did a buy now on my head unit on e-bay and it turned out to be from hendon car audio for the same price as it was on their site £235 for a brand new pioneer p8400mp almost two years ago. they where trying to sell them in halfrauds for about 500 quid
-
my mw, lw and fm reception are great after i removed the knackered waterlogged amp circuit board from the aerial base and by-passed it, better than the reception in my brand new caddy actually 8)
-
they have to be on the axis they would be in the car mounting points or they will lock up due to a ball bearing level/inertia device .........but whatever you do dont try and remove the side covers as the spring will more than likely fly out and they are a complete sod to put back in   edit: henny beat me to that one
