  1. i took the clutch off this afternoon and allthogh it looked ok on the out side the inside was another matter................
  2. neither the master or slave cylinder are leaking, are there any other ways to find out if they are faulty?? if the master cylinder was faulty wouldnt the fluid level not drop as the clutch pedal was pressed? might dismantle the master cylinder tomorrow if the new clutch makes no difference
  3. Surely if it was the master cylinder your brakes wouldn't work either....? the brakes and clutch use seperate master cylinders but share the same fluid reservoir. its just confusing me now as the clutch pedal feels perfectly normal
  4. just finnished removing the gear box after several hours of swearing and bleeding knuckles, and there is no obvious reason :? i will change the clutch tomorrow to see if that makes a difference :( the thrust bearing is a little rough but was in the right position, the clutch looks ok and the bearing pressure plate was located correctly so its looking likely that it could be the master cylinder, but i thought if the master cylinder was knackered the pedal would just drop to the floor, any ideas :?:
  5. maybe he had one of these http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=
  6. b*ll sh1t   afaik there is no pad or disk thickness sensors so what difference would it make to the abs computer having new disks or pads
  7. its on its original clutch at 123000 miles so im going to change it tomorrow anyway as i allready have a new one just hope it will solve the problem my mate said the actual bearing itself looked ok but the metal clips on the sides of the bearing had snapped off on his
  8. its had a new slave cylinder, and the master looks quite new too, and the pedal dosnt drop to the floor and feels normal :| a mate of mine who has had vw's for years has just told me that he thinks the creaking is the thrust bearing starting to fail as he had this happen on one of his old cars but he cant remember which :| i am going to whip the box off tomorrow and have a poke around i will post pics if i find anything :(
  9. at first it was a good day as i picked up my bbs rm's this afternoon from chorley and the seller turned out to be redlee from the forum with his 20vt (nice car by the way) then while on my way to a leaving do on the m53 i went to down shift to overtake a lorry and it wouldnt go into 4th, so i tried 5th again and it wouldnt go in so i slowed down and couldnt get 3rd 2nd or 1st :( so i pulled over as far as i could turned off the engine and then tried putting it into gear which it did easily i then tried starting it in gear with the clutch depressed and it pulled forward, so the clutch is not disengaging  i have recently been noticing the clutch creaking a bit when i pressed it and if i let the clutch out quickly in neutral it was making a sort of slapping noise like something is sticking and then releasing suddenly the feel of the clutch pedal seems ok no different to before though and it has never slipped. does it sound like the clutch, the thrust bearing, or hydraulic :?: i allready have a clutch kit with a new bearing to fit that i ordered last year but didnt fit after being told the clutch was fine by a mechanic
  10. well thats because your c is in a class of its own havnt seen many cars let alone a c that can compare to it really 8)

    Oil Usage!

ive even heard of garages moving the pistons to tdc and resting each valve on top of the piston and changing four seals at a time instead of using a compressor to hold the valves up. but they still used the special tool to remove the valve collets and spring
  12. oh i only got that time from some photos my mate had taken of the time display board which he said where for your car but he must have got them mixed up with one of the bikes runs. all i know is it was f***ing quick and really f***ing loud 8) car how many mile per gallon does it do??or would meters per gallon be more applicable

cant see anything to slate you for all looks good to me 8) thats the best approach i think get the mechanical bits sorted first and worry about tarting it up second :) ive got a nice collection of parking dents waiting to be removed aswell by the way what does "baile atha cliath" mean on the irish plates :?: :?:

    Oil Usage!

i dont think the head needs to come off but the the camshaft and hydraulic tappets do need to be removed to change the stem seals(might be worth getting the tappets replaced at the same time) also i have heard some people have had problems with some oils going through the engine like a dose of salts. what oil are you using?
  16. i thought the whirring noise when turning the wheel was normal :?: just the fluid being pumped around i dont think any power steering system is silent is it :?: as long as the steering dosnt get heavier while turning or the belt starts to squeel the belt tension should be ok :| since i did the boost return mod my average mpg has improved by about 5mpg 8)
  17. i think its meant to be white and black they just get stained by oil and dirt mine was white after a steam clean anyway. something to do with the vacum system i think the other end go's to the brake servo dosnt it ?? they might be the same as other vw's and you could probably find one in a scrappy but im sure one of the mods will know more.

http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight= seems like quite a few corrado owners are in this position  must be the affect of having such a babe magnet car
  19. looks like some sort of pressure sensor oil pressure maybee???
  20. sounds like a binding front left calliper to me have the pads got much meat left on them???? it could just need a clean out and grease on the sliding bolts if it was a cv joint problem it would not alter under braking
  21. that was the first time i have been to a drag race and it was quite an experience watching supercharged bikes with well over 1000bhp and 1950's/1960's cars doing 200mph tearing down the strip  and there is definately something about the smell of burning rubber and methanol  my mate got some great rolling burnout shots with his camera, they had to open the doors on the corrado to let the tyresmoke clear  well worth it if you get the chance to see it 8)
  22. went to stratford on avon dragstip today and saw the corrado dragster running all i can say is WOW!!!! it was one of the fastest door slammers there and was running 1/4 miles in 8.5 seconds  i was supprised that most of the body is actually original including the bumpers 8) i got talking to one of the women from the team and she said they will be doing passenger runs in it at one of the up-coming shows 8)
  23. they also scratch the paint if any dust or grit gets under them or even if they get wet :( as a mate of mine with a new beetle found out that paint protection stuff is good though its a foliatec product i think  about £35 for a sheet 30cm by 165cm from demon tweeks order code (3411) i used it on my mr2 bonnet and it worked very well and its easy to remove if you need to 8)
  24. A20LEE has solved this problem on his he's got rid of the gutters 8) i saw it at tatton park and didnt notice it at first looks better without them imo
