  1. I did consider asking someone who's registered at FB to make a post. Seems like the most sensible option to get more interest. Caffeine and Machine back on then!..... (possibly with half price Burgers)
  2. It was broken when I bought it. Didn't think I'd care to much about it, but seems I do now. Question is, can the parts be made to fix it I'm wondering.
  3. This is a great idea chaps. It would help the community in a huge way. We all have those little niggly parts we can't get or have to buy worn s/h stuff. I have no technical experience so can't offer any real help sadly, but I would be into buying parts as I'm sure others would. The sunroof is one major pain for many of us. I know my options are live with it or try and fit a second hand one. Neither option makes me feel good. As much as it's killing me having a closed roof in this weather, I see no worth in going through all the hassle to fit a roof that could break any day after it's fitted. Fitting a new kit would be a different story though and a worthy job to undertake. I don't know the workings of the roof or the nature of the problem, but wondered if any one thinks it's possible to make a decent and permanent repair kit?
  4. Yeah ok mate, I understand that one. We shall just play it by ear for now then. There is some monthly car meets that spring to mind that I keep promising to visit. Something like this maybe. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10157231284761092&set=gm.10162359978821337&type=1&theater The distance isn't that great and there will be other fancy cars and people to meet. It's an evening gig but that would probably make it easier for me to attend. Or maybe there's something in your neck of the woods you can suggest? It will probably end up being just you and me, so we need some where there will be activity and other peeps to interact with, otherwise it will be the saddest Corrado meet ever held
  5. I didn't expect a rush of people, but thought there may be a couple of takers at least. The location of C&M is a bit off the beaten track possibly? (although a great venue) Maybe a location nearer a large city. Somewhere in between Birmingham and Leicester possibly. I think there is a bigger collection of owners in these areas. Having said that it seems only a small portion of Corrado owners are actually users of the Forum. On a side note Keyo, September is pretty much a no go for me due to weekend and out of town work. I am not busy in July and August, so if we can get can some interest and move it forward to August time it would help me guarantee being there. If you are wanting to wait due to getting your car looking pristine, please don't worry, I will have to turn up with shabby paint, cracked fog lights, even a bit of grey primer . I've had to put more money than expected into mechanics so am going to have to wait 12 months for the paintwork sadly. If it's because of mechanical problems that you need to wait that would be a different kettle of fish of course :)
  6. It would be nice if it did sell at that price as it would help inflate the Corrados value. The auctions are used to compile price data by the classic magazines for their buyers guide. I totally agree, being the last registered does not warrant such a high price tag. It has some unique value to it, but not enough to warrant double the usual asking price for a mint example. If it had been owned by a well known celebrity then perhaps it could make that money.
  7. Does anyone think it will sell? I'm pretty certain it won't, but we shall see.
  8. Came across this earlier and have decided to pop along as it's only 45 mins for me...... I just thought I'd share it as I've never heard about it before and it looks like it's worth a visit for a car lover. It's a music fest with classic vehicle displays and other attractions. £5 entry, free for classics and kids. There is mention of a VW display also. https://husbandsbosworth.info/bosworth-festival https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=2211890812222822&set=gm.10162385996861337&type=3&theater&ifg=1 We certainly have the weather for it .......
  9. I've loved the TR6 from an early age and was quite shocked at the TR7 when it was launched. Seeing it in the flesh with all it's horrible black plastic trim parts confirmed my thoughts that the age of the classic British roadster was dead. They can look pretty nice though with subtle mods and the V8 is a very rare beast indeed with only 20 registered.
  10. I'm doing a weeks work at a little industrial unit and some guy from an adjoining unit walked past and said..... awesome car mate, really nice looking, my mate used to have a G40.... I guess he didn't spot the bit in primer... Getting comments does make owning one a little bit better though.
  11. I test drove a 2.0 16v as well. IIRC the 2.0 version was fitted with a Passat engine and box, it felt a lot less refined than my Quattro and a bit lack lustre power wise. It is a heavy car so was to be expected I guess. The S2 was in a class of it's own though and will definitely be a high value classic in the future. Dam it, I want one now!!
  12. I owned a 2.3 Quattro J reg white with 17" Borbetts. It was a beautiful car, inside and out. The 2.3 needed more power to make it go like it looked, but it was still fairly fast and super comfy. The only time I've ever cr**ped myself in a car as a passenger was on a test drive in an S2. We where hurtling down a country road with a really bad bend looming when I glanced at the speedo to see it was at well over 100 mph. "Stop, I've seen enough!" I cried out  What an awesome motor they are and a real regret I didn't buy that S2.
  13. Shame the rims have been painted. The factory finish on those ATS Cups is awesome. Nicest looking wheels I've ever seen. I can't decide if they suit the Corrado, but put them on a MK1 GTi and they look super sweet.
  14. Ok thanks for the reply. I will grab a few myself no doubt.
  15. I noticed I have a 2 or 3 broken. Do you think they are the same for the G60?
  16. I Need the n/s/f Brake Air Scoop for a G60. Will take both sides if you don't want to split. The nearside is specific to the G60 to get around the Intercooler so a pair from another model type will not fit (found out the hard way. Thanks
  17. You can get some good deals on a classic insurance without the crap involved with these mainstream companies. I did mine at Lancaster for £180 with 5000 miles, fully comp, windscreen cover, drivers legal protection and guaranteed buy back should it get bent. You can add miles if you go over the limit. It would have been £40 cheaper if it was garaged at night. Only thing I had to supply was a membership number for a recognised car club. You are correct about these mainstream companies, they are running amok it seems. I joined Centurion sometime ago and after about 3 months I had to change over to another car. I was pleasantly surprised with their charges for swapping over and for once in life it didn't feel like I'd been ripped off. Some months later about 9 days before my policy ran out I noticed a few hundred pounds missing from of my bank. On investigation I found an email thanking me for payment for renewing my insurance with them. There was no prior emails or contact between us, they just took the money and that was it. They didn't even show in the email the cost or details of the new policy. I phoned to ask the legitimacy of their actions and the operative acted totally blasé, offered no reasonable explanation and just couldn't wait to get me off the phone. He knew what a blatant **** take it was. Letters of complaint to the relative governing body are the only way to stop them, But I doubt there is even one out there that gives a crap in this world of crony capitalism!

    Front grill fixing

Those oval ones look ideal as such, but some of them do seem rather chunky and it might stop the clips going in all the way. The standard round 20mm grommets that I used will work fine and leave a decent size hole for the clip to push in to. Any electrician or maintenance department at your place of work will have them lying around. Time to go on the scrounge guys! *Edit* I just came to me in the shower...... Some of the blind grommets come with an outer edge that would sit flusher and possibly look more like the original ones. You would need to cut out the centre part but I reckon they would look even better. I do have some somewhere so will try it out when I find them. http://www.electricaldirect.co.uk/product/pvc-blind-grommet-20mm-pack-100-113596?apelog=yes Box of 100 open grommets is £2.30 at screwfix so watch what you pay. http://www.screwfix.com/search?search=20mm+grommets
  19. Good luck with it. I've had trouble getting the rear one done. The bolts are so seized we are worried about snapping the captive nuts on the sub frame. It's the sub frame out if they break, so go with caution.
  20. If your rubber grommets are perished for the 3 bottom tabs of your grill you can replace them with 20mm electrical grommets. They are a couple of mm smaller diameter wise and slightly chunkier but they fit the hole nicely and secure the grill very well. Looks a bit more slightly too. :thumbleft:
  21. I need an idle air adjust screw rubber seal for the Digifant system. Has anyone bought one recently or know if the parts are still available for this system please? I didn't find anything while searching so am wondering if it is main dealer only....
  22. Not sure when and where this was, and I very much doubt anyone will own up to this one........ I just saw a maroon rado possibly n reg nearly plough into a car outside a school on Roads From Hell Caught On Camera
  23. Oh, it's a bit tatty here and there. The write up paints it nicely for the auction. No wonder they left the interior out.
  24. *Edit* After seeing the inside of the car I have changed my mind!
  25. That's fine with me. I will have look and see what events they have coming up.
