  1. I've only had the 'arse' message recently a couple of times. Bit embarrassing in work when it pops up just as someone approaches my desk...:)
  2. and stonejags are off mine :) THey were great wheels, still half wish I'd never swapped, but one day will have speedlines.
  3. Gone, poor lamb. I don't know why I felt so sorry for this car. It's like a wee orphan, being passed from foster carer to foster carer.
  4. We could all chip in £50 and have it as the Forum car. Like the ugly cats at the rescue home no-one wants...lol Whatever needs done, we all donate a part each and when it's finished, sell it and give the money to charity :) Maybe not this car, but something really cheap but special!
  5. I'm pretty sure I was offered it for £800 about 5 years ago, if that's a measure of worth! lol
  6. I'll be honest, I was a hero driver when i was young. I deserved big premiums, even tho I only had one small bump. I truly think all boys my age were the same, most never admit it tho. Since then I've calmed down a lot, but looking back, how I never got killed or seriously I'll never know. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't reckless as such, but did like treating back road like my own private racetrack. But now I'm older, I realise that there are just as many idiots on the road that should not be there that are of a completely different demographic, and I think in 10eyars time, I'll not be classing myself as one of them. Solution? Everyone should be made to resit a driving test every 10years. Can't pass? Don't drive. Simples. I reckon with one fell swoop, half the crap drivers out there (and I'm not talking just young) would be gone. Old people with no spatial awareness, '40 everywhere' drivers, all those with broken wrists that means they can't indicate, those who learned to drive in abroad and forgot that the inside lane is on the LEFT in the UK. Not only will roads become safer, but insurers will only pay out for accidents, rather than payout for 'You're a stupid f'ing idiot who should never have been on the road-idents'. Phew - I blame Kev for putting me in rant mode.
  7. I remember being offered this Corrado years ago for not very much money. Since then, it's been for sale every year since I think! Does anyone know this car? Why does no-one love it? (10 previous owners, poor thing!) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1993-L-VOLKSWAGEN-CORRADO-VR6-GREEN-/190746818353?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item2c69657731#ht_856wt_1204 ---------- Post added at 1:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:55 PM ---------- Although missing pass door handle, knackered seatbelt anchor and hole in the front indicator plus early grill and indicator/fogs don't bode well for it. Did very early VR6s have this spec? From memory this has a dizzy.
  8. Nah, this forum really is not bad. Although I have to admit, 100%, I don't understand everyone's obsession with ham, eggs and bacon...in bags.... You'd think after 500 posts I'd be up to speed
  9. Aviva have been good with me for the past 2 years, I had a wad of points at one point but they stil gave me a good price. Although when the T25 came up for renewal, it jumped up £200, so i asked them to cancel it as I had one much cheaper. 15mins on the phone, they got it from £404 to.....£198 Fully Comp, any car etcc!!! I said yes, but I'm driving and on handsfree, can I pay later. Phoned at the end of the week, couldn't find the quote! But in fairness, they listened to the call and agreed I had been quoted, and therefore they would honour it. Can't say fairer than that.
  10. Soonish easypops?! Would that be this year soonish or next Did you find the other bits? Dave - Can you put me down for a set please and PM me payment details? Thank you, J
  11. Yes and no. I think most forums suffer from the loss of the novelty value now that they are mor or less the norm. From what I see, a couple of thing s happen - lots of knowledge is imparted, but not well documented (i.e. through tagging of threaads). This means when a new person comes along as asks a question, they often get tutted at for not searching (even tho they may have done and cannot ssearch for things like 'vr6 abs' or use the 'wrong' term like secondary watr pump in stead of aux wter pump, or even auxiliarry water pump). The other 'prblem' is that forums become slightly cliquey (not always in a bad way i hasten to add), but this can make it hard for a new person to feel at home, esp if there re lots of in-jokes. So whilst it my be a bit quiet here, I find most forums are the same. Fortunately this is one of the more 'car focussed' forums, where people are true enthusiasts who want to understand their cars and keep them going without just flinging it in a garage.
  12. That'll be great, we did France in the Corrado a couple of years ago, such a lovely country. Braided hoses are one of the best mods I've made to brakes. My friend has a 156 2.4JTD, brakes are shocking, even tho pads and discs are new, I reckon braided hoses will sort them.
  13. I've never felt any loyalty to VW anyway. Their service staff treat you with contempt, their parts department seem to think it's a big hassle when you order parts, their new cars are the same as the next manufacturer and they care not a jot about actual car enthusiasts. Car enthusiasts do not make VW money worth talking about, and it doesn't really matter that people like and drive old VWs - they'd still sell cars regardless. Look at Kia and so on - they barely existed in this country 15years ago and sell cars by the shedload! :) I always say I like old VWs, not VWs.
  14. This was supposed to happen this year, but the birth of my niece meant it was postponed. So, in April, I've committed to take my mother a road trip to the former Yugoslavia and beyond. Some of you will know that I've already taken the Corrado to Bosnia. Next up are Albania, Montenegro, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Serbia and Romania. Anyone driven out in these parts before? I'm researching online, but not a huge amount of info out there, although LPG is plentiful and cheap apparantly. If anyone has driven out, what route did they take? Not sure if I should go clockwise or anti clockwise. Although the S4 might be faster, quieter and a bit cheaper with longer range on LPG, I'm thinking the Corrado will be more robust and fixable in event of a breakdown. All thoughts welcome! Cheers,
  15. Looks nice, but can't imagine it'll be much fun to drive with wheels that size and being so low. Your Corrado is lovely. Although this may have a 20vT, I honestly think it would not take long for you to want shot of it. I could never live with something like this. I've had 3 Mk2 16vs, but would only have another as a toy. Plus - what do you think your insurance company would say about engine, wheels and so on? With the scale of mods, you'd want to make sure everything was insured, esp given the attention it'll attract.
  16. MOT checks this regardless of mod tho as a safeguard. Hope it wasn't your R32 Kev
  17. I got one from TPS last year and was only about £160 I think. Top of my head says that it's make by Beru tho...
  18. Reliant Scimitar! You can get ones with new chassis for not a lot. I loved mine, very much the same spirit as the Corrado and RWD. haha, will watch with interest.
  19. Bit of a revival, but you'd be surprised Wendy how mamy cars are on LPG these days. Although still not mainstream, there are a fair few! I'm happy it's still very much under the radar as , in my mind anyway, it helps keep prices down. My hubby is studying Hydrogen Storage at Uni for his final year, we talk about it quite often, but cars are defo the key focus for them right now, although there are so many challenges, I can't see it ever being a success from what he's told me. He gets really frustrated by all the researchers - they live in the research world, but really struggle to incorporate their ideas into real life. But as I told him - once there is an iota of an indication that it would work commercially, the big guns will come in and pour money in. In the meantime, LPG for me :)
  20. I don't fight anyone else's battles - I might 'only' be 29, but have gradually realised that you get no thanks for sticking up for anyone else - as Kev said, too many differing views. I fight my own wee corner, everyone else can fight theirs. Now - a post by Sunderland without mention of masturbating, johnnies or anything else crass?! Has this account been hacked mods?!
  21. I live in a deprived area (apparently). I never completed Uni and started off earning 8k in a car showroom. Now working as an analyst for a bank (yes - a bank!) 9 years later. I have no formal qualifications apart from school. Never had a handout from the state, nor do I want one as such. I do want my hard earned money (tax) being spent on those that NEED it, not those that know how to get it. In that respect, the benefits reform is long overdue, but being f***ed up by ATOS. The Welfare state is brilliant, but being abused. They've got to start somewhere. You make your own future, that's true no matter who you are or where you live. (BTW, I do want to add a disclaimer 'cos I feel bad - despite being a technically deprived area with few job opportunities and high unemployment/benefit dependency, Gourock (and Inverclyde) is a lovely place, stunning views and friendly people!, so don't be put off visiting!)
  22. Tracking absolutely most definetly will be messed up then! make sure you take it somewhere that can do camber - without camber being right, they can track all day and you'll still chew tyres. Good luck!
  23. i've just been offered a personality test :( oh, and and an ad for justsingleparents...sorry but this homo really hasn't been looking at that!
