I think a lot of people are to use to 4 pot turbo cars these days with low end torque, you realy do have to rev out most 90s sport cars with large blocks. The bonus is you get to enjoy the engine as it goes up the rev counter. I had a S550 GT Mustang in 2016 and you just couldnt use the power and the traction was awful on UK greasey roads. had to swop out the stock Pirelli for MC Pilot Sports which did improve somewhat.I actually mistakingly did a 180 dougnut turning right at some traffic lights once looked a right hooligan . The best cars on uk car roads for performance and grip are hatchbacks like the Focus RS and Golf R. NO point going over 230 bhp on fwd cars in my opinion .

If it was a VR6 you need to rev up to about 4000 revs and then the car will come alive.

I call this the ashtray light its pretty easy to replace. Take out the ashtray . Unscrew the one screw in the ashtray surround trim located at the back . Pull the trim out and disconnect the plug out of the bulb housing. The white bulb housing then can be wedged out of the trim and the bulb unit can be pulled off the white surround. You can still order the green bulb housing from VW Heritage that they order in from VW classic . 357919243AK25 £7.50 I also replaced heat seat contol switch which I found out was also meant to be iluminated, also dint realise that the Rado had heated mirrors.

Not sure about torque setting but I purchased a Febi kit waiting to fit off ebay that came with the wishbones and a few other goodies. Have you inspected the front droplinks ? There are also four bushes on the front beam , 3 engine and tranmission mounts ,and 2 rear axle bushes. Front x 4 bushes beam https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-GOLF-MK2-CORRADO-FRONT-CROSS-MEMBER-MOUNT-BUSHES-x-4-191199233-A1223/192233123396?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Drop links https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fits-VW-Corrado-53I-2-9-VR6-Febi-Front-Drop-Link-Anti-Roll-Bar-ARB-Stabiliser/362270677398?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Front suspension kit https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FEBI-SUSPENSION-UPDATE-KIT-CORRADO-VR6-GOLF-MK3-GTI-VR6-5-STUD-2X-ALL-ITEMS/264047839407?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Rear axle bushes https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Febi-Rear-Axle-Bush-Prokit-Repair-Set-Beam-1220-GENUINE-5-YEAR-WARRANTY/173426827227?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 Let us know if you want a link for the engine and tranny mounts and Ill pop them over to you as well. If jacking on a sloped drive I advise putting a couple of tyres under the car to act a safety cushion if the jack becomes unlodged, only metioned this as it happened to me once and it was one hell of a close shave.

Glad to here it mate sounds like your motor is in good hands, I put my old Bosch Sensor in the JP box. always good to have a spare with parts getting thin on the ground. Today I tested a used EVAC solenoid purge vavle I purchased off ebay described as tested. Put the inlet end of the solenoid on a manual Vacum pump up to 15 pressure and it held, thought great it works but once connected power it clicked but didnt release the pressure so epic fail as solenoid must be stuck, got a refund thankfully but had to fork out just over a ton for a new one  . -
Reckon your spot on Fla. have no idea how complex it is to get into that area and if I might risk braking something.

Would rather a new screen to be honest as it should have a good life exspectancy, there are several comapanies out there specialising in automotive lcd repair so I might end up belling one them next week, the strange thing is on certain functions its shows as a full digit but on other functions only half might not be the screen who knows !
-
Hi All, The last digit on my MFA is starting to only show the bottom half of the digit so I believe the pixels are starting to fade on the lcd screen . Is it the VR^ 1995 model same as the MK2 golf multifunction MFA LCD screen if so I have a link below for a replacement screen, Any advice would be great , as mentioned its just a bit of pixle fading, the MFA is functioning as it should. If the part is incorrect that I have linked below could somone guide me in the right direction. https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/LCD-Repair-Display-for-VW-Golf-1-2-ii-MFA-on-Board-Computer-Tacho/4014033006?iid=263467219031&chn=ps Thank You

If your shocks are older then 10/15 years old then yes mate get a new set and also consider the rest of the suspension, bushes , mounts, bump stops, wishbones etc as it will probably be in the same state. Really can completley transform a car .

NO it would not mate.

When I drop the car into to Vince I want to see the the sparks with my own eyes that he carrys in stock for the VR to make sure that is the the right part number he gave me on the phone and will update on here , just keep that in mind before anyone goes ahead and fits them. Cheers.
-
Yep so true I actually do emergency call outs supplying access/scaffolding to engineers in factories to access these 200 ton press machines, the factories are normally independents that supply to the automotive ie Jaguar, they have loads of templates scattered through the factory. They look like large metal blocks and the forklift lift them on to the press, then the metal sheet and its just like a huge stamping device. One thing Ill say about Merc is they have a really good classic car part policy , VW need to follow as even a larger market. They should be £250 max to purchase new. .

Here we go lads Bosch FR7KPP33+ Spark plugs ,came on a Audi TT MK1 225BHP , Vince said do not go for the equivalent NGK Varient of these plugs only half as good as the Bosch FR7KPP33+. That is what I have been told anyway, the car has not been fitted with them yet. maybe another member has these sparks all ready fitted ???
-
The template for the wings will be sitting in a factory somewhere as they never throw them away, it;s a shame one of the VW specialist cant locate the original manufacurer because it is just a matter of the template been forklifted into the press machine and off you go a thousand panels in a couple of days. Hey ho !

Thanks

Think Ill purchase the Bosch leads . Spoke to Vince at Stealth earlier as booking in my motor and mentioned sparks and leads. He said leads they really heve not found the dream aftermarket set yet but using electro something at the moment, he did say dont bother with any GSF or something like that. For sparks he said they are using some Audi ones that are far out performing any plug for performance and relibility as you may all know he has a front wheel rolling road at his garage, Ill ask him for the spark plugs part number when I get the chance.

Here is the last link. Spark plugs https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-LASER-PLATINUM-SPARK-PLUG-BKR5EKUP-2890-FREE-P-P/202383062122?epid=248989664&hash=item2f1ef8746a:g:db0AAOSwDV1XRHj2:rk:1:pf:0 The NGK LASER PLATINUM SPARK PLUG BKR5EKUP 2890 at £3.99 seem alot cheaper then any other seller wonder if they are real ! I reckon the NGK leads might be even better quality then the Bosch ones , not really sure though. Mine are a pain in the ass to replace because you have to remove the Shrick manifold so want to get good quality.
-
Been three years since my sparks have been changed and prob well over 20,000 miles after studying the paper work of my VR6, also taking the Shrick Inlet manifold off as have some new gaskests so be rude not to. So my question is what would members recommend. I was thinking. Leads https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CORRADO-VR6-Ignition-leads-set-Bosch-Corrado-Mk3-Golf-905QHT020/362151420507?epid=1378677840&hash=item5451e8225b:g:GtIAAOSwiuxap-hF or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-IGNITION-LEAD-SET-RC-VW223-0954/283039831162?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 sparks https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NGK-Spark-Plug-BKR5EKUP-6-Pack-Laser-Platinum-Sparkplug-NGK-2890/1815 Any advice would be great. Thanks in advance.
