Does anyone know of a decent body shop around Basingstoke?
Tekara replied to Dredgey's topic in Suppliers Forum
The one in Andover is called CARWorx http://www.thebestof.co.uk/local/andover/business-guide/feature/carworx/73301 01264 350518. Top guys that run it, they've paint every panel on my Rado over the years and never been disapointed with their workmanship - definately worth a call. -
I believe a complete setup with modified loom sold on here a while back for £400+. That did include a defeated ECU if im not mistaken. Standard OBD2 parts kits have gone for £250-£275, so the loom and ecu work make up the difference.

Anyone know where to go to get insurance approved vehicle valuations? I need to source one due the value im requesting with my insurers. Any suggestion in the Hampshire area would be great.

Anyone work for VW/Audi/VAG ?? warranty/guarantee question?

Check out the Audi Sport forum, this has been a long discussed topic on there lots of good contacts at the Audi head office. My A3 is suffering the same, i've given up trying to claim via Audi always an excuse - going to go private to save my sanity, helps when you have friends in the trade, if it wasnt for that i'd probably still be pursuing a claim due to the cost. -
Looking to locate any possible source for a tailgate windows rubber seal. According to the dealers its now obsolete and no stock in any dealers :(

I wonder how it compares to Elsawin?
-
Was it that obvious  Yeah, thought id help him with something constructive considering I keep getting "do you think it could be...." calls from him.

Yes, looked high and low. Should mention its a Mk2 conversion using Corrado parts, whoever did the wiring clearly wasn’t the best. Seems only the important wires have been plumped in, still a bundle in the scuttle that go nowhere - guessing the diagnostic lines are amongst that hence why I’m now want it trace back from the ECU.
-
Hi All I’m helping out with the tidying up on a VR6 conversion, one the main issues with it is there isn’t a diagnostics port wired up anywhere we can find. As such I thought it easier to start from scratch and install a new one. Does anyone know the pinouts on an OBD1 AG ECU for the diagnostic port, I believe there are meant to be two for the K and L lines? In addition to those would I also be correct in thinking there is meant to be a 12v and ground feed to the port? If so where is best to get those from? Cheers

I had this problem using an ebay cheap USB Vagcom lead, simply would not work on the Corrado ABS unit, oddly worked fine on an OBD2 Vento. Never managed to find a solution, in the end i gave up and bought 9 pin Serial Vagcom lead which works perfectly. Does the ABS light come on when you try and connect, that’s usually a basic indicator as to whether there is some sort of life in it.

Apparently you can order these from VAG - T11 919 081 for £23, its a "proctected" part so my dealer says - so they are having to order it through TPS. I’m not a hundred percent sure if this the right item, but I’ve ordered one non the less as i ran into the same problem as you with back ordering with Merlin. Lets hope its correct so i can get the gauges fitted over Christmas

How easy was it to replace this? Was it a case of remove the rack, or column.
-
Id be up for getting my wheel retrimmed, mines started to go sticky... :gag:

Hi All Looking to source a sensibly price reconditioned TRW steering rack for a late VR6. Any idea where and how much they cost? Cheers
-
Make sure you get a cam locking tool before you start fitting them, luckily for me my local friendly forum Mod gave me a hand. Its also definatly worth ordering up a new cam position trigger.

A map isn’t essential but I got mine mapped after fitting the 263's and there was a clear increase between running a standard map and a custom one. Prior to the mapping i noticed an improvement running the 263's on a standard map, but it suffered from a little pinking now and again so a little correction was needed in my case.

 wahay about time you got back on here again.

Ummmmmm the Audi 5 pot back with a vengeance..... I might have found my next car.

I believe a proper external aerial is meant to be best, I'm currently using an internal aerial and only get the BBC assembly unless on a motorway. Sadly using the Corrado aerial will prevent you from using a splitter due to the fact it is amplified, apparently the splitters only works on non amplified aerials. Worth keeping an eye out for the dual feed aerials which look like the standard Corrado unit but offer feeds for both analogue and digital.

The coloured blocks of plastic are interchangeable tips for the sensor, you'll need to match this up with the same as you original once removed. Its a bit of a pain to get the old one off, remove the circlip and pull, i cant remember if its made easier if a vacuum line is removed.

Thanks for that, sadly tried Venom they dont have any stock, why they havent taken it off their site i dont know. Yeah Vemon said they have been bought by another company, but no word if the exhausts will go into production again. UPDATE: Just called Motorsportworld, they too list it but apparently its not being made by the new company who bought Magnex :( Thanks for your help.
-
Hi All I'm on the look out for a Magnex CAT back system for a VR6, does anyone know of any suppliers with stocks left? Cheers Ross
-
Has anyone compared a DUBpower exhaust against a Magnex? I’m torn and cant decide which to get, just looking for a slightly raspier note without the horrid drone on motorway cruises.
-
If it helps I’ll be breaking a set of VR6 clocks soon, I just need the temp / fuel gauge. Mine requires a little persuasion to work every now and again.

From memory the hoses you describe sound about right. The Passat calipers should have a small hard line hose with threaded male fitments, if you look at the image i found from my caliper install you will see what i mean, haven’t managed to locate the diagram in ETKA. Its possible i my still have these hard lines lurking in the garage, ill take a look over the weekend, failing that as i said before standard Rado VR6 hoses work fine.
