  1. Anyone go any sound clips with one of these fitted, im tempted for a little more noise.
  2. You could try and borrow another VR6 owners MAF, if you know someone with the same type. I did spot a hot wire MAF from a K reg Golf VR in my local scrappy they wanted £60 after a little bartering, but the gamble always will whether it works. Might be worth dropping Bigpantsbaby a PM to see if he has any second hand ones, always seems to have loads of VR bits for sale.
  3. In the first you could, along with turboing.

    No Pagid FR!

Im tempted to move to EBC Greenstuff
  5. Do you have any issues engaging the other gears, including reverse.
  6. Not sure at the moment Steve, was hoping to get a hold of some slightly used Pagid FR's, but that's only prolonging the inevitable. Nick seems to swear by EBC so i thought i might try a set of those before switching to VAG. Im still very much inclined to send these back to Mintex when i get the time, accompanied by a choicely worded letter of disappointment. Did you have a close look at your pads when they were off? I found mine had rubbing badly on the wings were it meets the carrier. I filed that down a little, seemed to tame things slightly, but by no means eliminated. PM on route Goldie
  7. They are indeed the ones with banjo connectors on.
  8. Im not far from Andover, more than welcome to pop up if you dont mind the drive.
  9. Did someone mention my name  As Toad said, hoses depend on the calipers you've got. If youve got Golf calipers ive got an unused set of hoses. Thanks Tom Id recommend sticking with VAG parts, get the discs from the late MK3, part numbers i used were 3A0 615 301 A. Pads i cant really help with, other than to advice you steer away from Mintex Extreme. Great bite, but squeal and squeak incessantly. Price for your old parts depends on age and wear, say £40 - £100 to the right person.
  10. All depends what you feel happy to settle with for the car / parts. If £1000 is your base target you'll get that with ease breaking, especially as you've got coilovers and Audi rims which could go to an Audi owner. If that's too much hassle then £1000 for a car only needing a new engine then to the right person its a bargain. If you still have the patience you could source an 2nd hand engine and sell as a working car.

    New Battery

Yep thats the battery ive got in mine. You can also fit the 74ah version in, just.
  12. Have you have the head presure tested during one of the previous removals?
  13. I belive you can contact ross-tech for retreval of the code
  14. Surely more heat would transfer upward from the rocker cover into the manifold.
  15. I paid £112+vat (parts club price) for a VAG radiator about a month ago. Not a fun job to do, i pulled it all out through the engine bay took many attempts swearing it wasn't possible, then all of a sudden it just popped out as though it was made to do so.
  16. You shouldnt have any steam coming from the engine unless there's water to evaporate and its got to come from somewhere. Either its been blasting down with rain or you've got a leak. Check the water level in the res, check the rad for leaks through the grill, might be worth removing to inspect have the engine on for this.
  17. New subframe is about £300 from VAG, captive nuts broke loose on mine.
  18. You could always approach a friendly local Garage and see if they'd offer any unpaid work on a Saturday. Bonus of this you'd have tools and ramps at your disposal making maintenance easier.
  19. Odd whiff of petrol isn't unusual. Have you checked the fuel hoses on the drivers side of the engine? I found mine to be leaking at the join onto the injector rail.
  20. Has it been serviced recently? Fuel filter could be old and blocked. Does it feel smooth when reving ?
  21. Going with the majority on this. The Alfa has the edge on looks, but thats about it. The Saab is the better all round package.
  22. I found an image HERE of the standard brake hose, and it looks like it my indeed fit directly, thanks for the info on that. Nope couldnt get pagid's, but i didn't try very hard to source any. Bought a load of bits from Stealth, Vince said that was the closest he could offer. How long have you had them on for? are they comparable to the pagid's in terms of stopping power and dust production? Out of curiosity how much did you pay for new calipers?, i've got some large rebuild bills looming, so im felling a little blasé and considering throwing caution to the wind to get the job done right.
  23. Tell me about it, had a chuckle at the over design on the packaging for whats rather a boring part.
