I thrash the knackers off my G60 every time I go out.

I think the government should relax the CAT laws. I was serious about the ozone layer - I was watching a TV program the other week and according to a recent study, experts reckon that it really is starting to repair itself. Shame really - I was looking forward to some real hot summers once the greenhouse effect started to get a good hold..  I know - I really do watch some crap on TV  I think I need to get out more.. :shaking:

I agree, who gives a f**k about ozone. The experts reckon it's starting to repair itself anyway..

I don't think there's much (if any) difference in the ratios, the problem is that the G60 rev limiter is set much lower than the VR6. This is why the speeds in each gear are lower for the G60. I think there is another thread on the forum which suggests that all of the Corrado gearboxes use the same ratios ?? I too have driven both and prefer the later VR6 interior but with my tuned G60 engine.

What a strange government we have/had at that time !!

2 hour job for a fairly competent mechanic.

So far as I'm aware you spray carb/brake cleaner onto it. Haven't done mine yet but I'm sure someone who has may reply. Try doing a search for "ISV", I think there are some threads on how to clean it.

CAT fitment is UK law from August 1992 (K reg) If your car is J reg 1992 (like mine) then you're okay to de-CAT. I find it very surprising that your MOT station is not aware of this ??

What needs to come off should become fairly obvious once you start the job. Easiest way would be to photograph the top of the engine before you start to dismantle the bits. Replace any hose clips with steel jubilee clips - factory ones may need to be cut off. Replace all hoses which are showing signs of wear. Maybe worth cleaning out your ISV while it's off the car.

A real bummer of a job mate - alternator off & charger off just to get near it. No requirement to touch the timing belt though.

Using a VIBE component system in my G60. 160w VIBE component front door speakers, 340w VIBE 6x9 3 way rear speakers mounted into custom built MDF parcel shelf (speaker magnets far too heavy for standard shelf), 3 dash tweeters, VW rear speakers & infinity sub. 2 amplifiers - 1 (200w) for sub (bridged) & 1 (480w) for front & rear VIBE component speakers. VW rear speakers & 3 dash tweeters powered by 4x50w head unit. Fantatic sound quality !!

Maybe ×Ç|®8tËÐ will be able to sort you out with a picture. (My camera's at work). The drilled Brembo disks are almost identical to the original VAG ones - only with holes in !! Available from GSF

Nice one - glad to see you got sorted m8

Tyre Pressures - from official VW owners handbook :- All measurements in BAR .....................Front..........................Rear............(full load in brackets) 16v.............2.6 (2.8)....................2.3 (2.5) G60............2.6 (2.8)....................2.3 (2.5) VR6............2.5 (2.7)....................2.2 (2.4) So far as I can see the sole reason for the different VR6 pressures compared to the rest of the range is due to the larger tyres fitted, as standard equipment, to this model. "Larger" meaning higher internal volume (the space where the air fits) and not meaning larger tyre diameter. Any Corrados running oversize wheels will all have the same ideal tyre pressure, regardless of engine size.

Nigel There's a few of us leaving Woodall Services at 9:30 am. PM me your mobile number and I'll give you a call when we get there.

Only very slightly harsher but you will definitely have increased road noise

No i didn't, im presently trying to start my ants go kart but i seem to be out of fuel

Unless you're going to be changing your calipers then the VAG pads will be okay. GSF may offer you 3 choices - Standard, Brembo drilled or I think they do some drilled & grooved ones but I can't remember who makes them. Standard pads will be okay with any of these disks. Just be aware that drilled & grooved discs will shorten the life of your brakepads slightly. For the type of driving that you describe, I don't think Pagid fast road pads would be the best choice.

Sure you're not already wearing it Brian ??.....

jmuggali Which pipe, exactly, was leaking ?? Had ANY engine work been carried out in the month or so prior to the start of your problem ?? Is the car definitely boiling up - or could you have a faulty temp sensor/wiring connection which would send a faulty reading to the dashboard gauge I would be changing the pressure cap & thermostat, if only to eliminate them from the possible causes. At the same time I would remove the top & bottom radiator hoses and run water through it to ensure it is not blocked. Then I would check the waterpump. Ensure that you drain & re-fill the system with the correct mix of VAG coolant and water.

"If brains were gasoline, you wouldn't have enough to run an ant's go-kart around the inside of a donut" Nice tagline Nigel - did you think that one up all by yourself ?....

205/40WR17 Goodyear Eagle F1 tyres I run 40psi on the front and 36psi on the back, although I accept slightly lower pressure may give more grip in bad conditions. I can't complain at all, even at those pressures the grip is outstanding. When & if the snow ever comes to Leeds, I may drop the pressures by around 5psi

Can we all arrange to meet somewhere, maybe inside the event ?? You all know what I look like now - I've uploaded my mugshot.....

I agree - the wheels spin even more when the roads are wet. As I suggested in my earlier post - quality tyres "earn their keep" in the corners. I don't think which make of tyre you have makes much difference to wheelspin from a standing start but they make a BIG difference to grip when cornering.

Regular reader of Max Power then Brian ?... :study:
