  1. Loose head bolts will give the same symptoms as a blown gasket.
  2. Check to see if VW do a "repair size" head gasket. If they do - the head can safely be skimmed.
  3. Your local branch of "Pirtek" will make some new pipes for you - check the yellow pages. We used them a few times when I used to work for Mercedes
  4. Dub Style, Your friend will actually be harming his engine. Neat antifreeze is a very inefficient coolant for any engine. It's purpose is to stop the water in the cooling system from freezing & also to inhibit the water from corroding the inside of your cooling system. It's purpose is to alter the chemical properties of the water - not to replace it. Think of it like running your car on fuel additives instead of petrol. You would never dream of filling your fuel tank with 15 gallons of octane booster. The car is unlikely even to run & if it did, it wouldn't run very well. Antifreeze MUST always be used in conjunction with water & should never be used neat (or even more than 50% mix)
  5. andycowuk, If you have a local Bosch service agent - they should be able to test the injectors while you wait. They'll need removing from the car though.
  6. I think there'll soon be a big boost in the sale of paintball guns..
  7. When you had the distributor fitted - what was the timing set to ? Have you changed types/brands of petrol ? With those mods, you should be using Bosch W5DPO spark plugs - are you ? (Standard fitment Bosch W6DPO will not be "cold" enough when you get higher in the rev range)
  8. Bad luck m8.. :( Can I have your driver's door window.. :D
  9. Picture looks nothing like my crankcase..
  10. No idea at all - I'll check at work tomorrow.
  11. Hope your luck starts to turn soon Ian - you've certainly had your fair share of hassle/problems with your G60. The 2 exhaust manifold studs that I've just sheared off in my cylinder head pale into insignificance.
  12. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news m8 - but that sounds a little unlikely to me. :(
  13. Send a PM to Blue_Joe here on the forum. He's changed all of his to blue lights.
  14. Bit of a lucky dip - may get a good one, may get a bad one. If you need a new one - I'll have a look & see if it's something that we stock when I get to work tomorrow. Your's is a 2.0-16v ?
  15. In your first post you refer to "suspension kits" - the front suspension springs from a MK2 Golf are NOT the same as Corrado ones. As I stated above - the Corrado weighs more than the Golf. I know - I ran MK2 Golf suspension on my G60 for 4 months last year. One of the front bumpstops ended up being forced right over the shocker body. MK2 front springs are way too soft for Corrado G60's.
  16. Sounds like the axle may well be bent then. :( If I were you - I'd be quite interested in exactly how it came to be bent.
  17. rs200f40, Give me a shout if you go ahead with the conversion - I'll buy your G60 engine from you.
  18. From memory - all the early Corrados were imported into the UK with the spoiler activating at approx 80mph. The work to reduce the spoiler activation speed was done in the at the supplying dealers. As has been stated earlier, this was a case of changine one of the resistors inside the spoiler control unit. There is a VW service information newsletter around somewhere, detailing the exact proceedure & resistor value.
  19. Possiblities :- 1. your coilovers are adjusted to different heights 2. your coilovers are badly worn 3. your top mountings are badly worn
  20. No, it won't. Geometrically the suspension kits are the same, however the G60 weighs far more than the Golf & a Golf kit will not be stiff enough.

Yeah - it was a while ago. Back in the days of "acid house" parties & the "Hacienda" (club in Manchester for those who don't remember the good times. :-P )
  22. Although most German cars do pull slightly to the left - this is hardly noticable on a correctly set-up car. Your problem could be due to the suspension camber being out of adjustment. 4 wheel laser wheel alignment will correct all of this - provided that your suspension isn't too worn. If your ball joints, top mountings or wheel bearings are worn - get them replaced before having the alignment done.
  23. Replace the rear top shocker mountings too - old mountings compress & get weak with age.
