  1. Dirtysouth, check that both heater pipes leading to the matrix get hot. They go through the bulkhead on the pasenger's side. If they're hot, you have a damaged heater flap control cable. Even with the heater temp set to "cold", hot water still circulates through the heater matrix. Supply of this heat to the inside of the car is contolled by a plastic flap, behind the dashboard.
  2. Tighten the driveshaft nut as tight as you can get it with a 2ft bar.
  3. I got hold of a spare rear axle beam when I thought mine was bent - turned out my axle mounting brackets just needed adjusting. Handles like a dream now. :D
  4. Rear axle mountings have a small amount of sideways adjustment. This adjustment is where the mounting brackets bolt to the floorpan. You may well find that your mounting bushes are knackered & your vehicle impact has just finished them off. The rear axle beam's are very strong & will take a lot of hammer before they'll bend. I'd get your mounting bushes checked.

    Aerial Base

We sell complete aerials cheap enough.
  6. I used to do both (at the same time)
  7. Doesn't sound very OK to me. Timing should be set at 2500rpm and should be 6 degrees BTDC (+/- 1 degree) Current chain of events - engine will try to "pink" (due to the advanced timing), ECU will automatically retard your timing, thus limiting your power. G60 Timing Proceedure:- 1. start engine 2. disconnect blue temp sender 3. keep engine revs at 2500rpm (may need a friend) 4. set timing to 6 degrees BTDC 5. run engine at 2500rpm to re-check the timing is correct 6. re-connect blue temp sender 7. set c/o to correct percentage 8. go for a blast up the road 8)
  8. Thought you guys hated Canadians ??
  9. Looks okay from the advert - but I suppose they all do. Oohhh - Metallic Black too - best Corrado colour  Exactly how many miles has it done ??
  10. £45,000 per year ..

  13. & decreasing daily.
  14. I had to burn mine out with a blowtorch. The stub axle had corroded inside the mounting hole & the sensor was stuck solid.
  15. Is it just the gasket that's leaking ?
  16. I doubt we'll do the bolts, but it'll be worth asking your local branch. If the old bolts still won't come out - they're not hot enough. Heat them until they glow red. Multi spline key is very similar to a star attachment.
  17. If you can smell the exhaust inside your car - get it sealed asap. Carbon Monoxide fumes won't do your health any good at all.
  18. Multi-spline key would be better. Tap the offending studs with a hammer to loosten them. If the head has completely sheared off - the remaining threads will no longer be tight & should unscrew with comparative ease. If they dont, you'll need to heat them with a blowtorch.
  19. I've seen a couple of Merc's with exactly the same problem. One of them had actually melted the whole piston - it looked like a large glob of alloy stuck to the con-rod.

    auto box whine

Most VW speciallists will have VAG-COM & I doubt they'd charge much just to scan for error codes. Maybe just a case of re-setting the ECU. This can be done without VAG-COM. If it was okay before it was stood, I doubt anything will need adjusting. Mechanically, the car will now be just as it was before it was parked up. ECU re-set may well solve your problems & as it's free, it sounds like a good place to start.
  21. CandyWhite16v, I'll find a heated mirror & rear screen wiring diagram for you. I haven't got one specifically for the 2.0-16v but I have one for the VR6 (same interior/switches). BTW - If you ever have a problem with the ABS, the warning light on the dashboard will come on.
  22. Ahh - I'll still get to see you bomb down the strip though. I'll be at that meet too, or are they gonna be the same weekend ?
