  1. Who's claimed that title then? I'm sworn to secrecy m8. I've seen the car but I ain't saying who's it is.
  2. AFAIK - c/o is usually set with the engine at idle & with everything connected. You may be confusing this with the proceedure for setting the timing.
  3. Cheaper to stick a supercharger onto your VR & more power too
  4. I think you'll have a pleasant surprise once you get the car mobile again
  5. I have absoloutely no idea :silly: What I do know is that the VR front shockers are slightly longer than the ones fitted to the 4 cylinder models although I don't think the VR sits any higher on the road.

    No Washer jets

May have dislodged the wash/wipe relay (mounted in fusebox, just above bonnet release handle) ??
  7. Wouldn't be the first R32 Corrado in the UK though
  8. potatonet, Your car will backfire when unburned fuel enters the exhaust system. The heat in the exhaust manifold will ingite this unburned fuel & cause a "backfiring" effect. This could be due to having a non-standard cam fitted, incorrect cam timing or your engine running too rich at high revs possibly due to a non-standard ECU chip. Can't wait 'till mine starts to do it - once I've re-built my engine. 8)
  9. Replace the expansion tank cap anyway - may not be the cause of your problem but cheap & definitely worth doing. The valves in the heater pipe are to stop the heater matrix from over-pressurising & consequently causing your passenger footwell to fill with coolant when the matrix bursts.
  10. I wouldn't bet on it - mine's done 20k since it was re-conditioned by Jabba and it needs doing again now !! nope - only the "Bentley manual" which covers US spec G60's & 2.8ltr VR6's That will be the small charger belt - usually only needs changing when the charger is re-conditioned.
  11. As above - I reckon the thermostat's been removed
  12. Sounds like a previous owner may have removed the thermostat. Fan running all the time would not stop the engine reaching it's operating temperature as it's the thermostat that regulates the engine water temp.

    Wrong oil?

Yes - they're identical to the VW ones in every way - including the internal valve.
  14. C'mon guys - do we really need another Lupo GTI wiper arm thread
  15. When I worked for VW it was common practice to always replace the tensioner & belt at the same time.
  16. The handle is secured only at the bottom. The retaining tab/clip is a kind of see-saw type thing. The tab at the back of the handle is squeezed upwards, towards the handle. This then lowers the securing clip (slightly forward of the tab) out of the handbrake rod, thus releasing the handle. The hinge part of this see-saw clip/tab thing is easily damaged. This makes removing the handle (without damaging it) rather difficult. While releasing the tab/clip, no forward pressure should be placed on the leather handle - forward pressure at this point will fcuk the tab/clip. Once the clip is released the handle will just slide forwards - if it offers any resistance at all, the tab/clip has not been released properly.
  17. As 16vg60 (John) has just said - the legal requirement at that time (August 1992 onwards) was that all new cars had to have a CAT fitted. However, so far as I understand, there was a 2 year period (until august 1994) before the emissions regulations were tightened. Therefore it should be quite possible to de-CAT a 1992 or 1993 car & still pass the emissions test. Hence the reason why your car has previously passed it's MOT without a CAT.
  18. No - tracking & geometry are very different. Tracking is just making the front wheels parallel (within certain tolerances) to each other. Geometry (4 wheel alignment) makes all 4 wheels line up with each other. Camber will be set, tracking will be set, castor (on cars where this is adjustable) will be set.
  19. We do the Lupo GTI aero blades too - not sure of the manufacturer/quality though :?
  20. AFAIK - your insurance premium will have been calculated - based on the current market value (amongst other things). So far as I'm aware they must pay the current market value. If you had been given the car as a gift - would that give them the right to pay you nothing at all ??
  21. Just clean your screen & wiper blades as detailed above  Kev - the Lupo wipers have been modified because VW thought there was a problem with the originals (due to extensive sales for RHD cars). Truth is - there was no problem with the original Lupo GTI wipers - we were just fitting them to Corrado's instead. If looked after - the aero blades are far better than the old style. 8)
  22. I fitted mine 18 months ago (20,000miles). Still as good as new
  23. Clean your windscreen thoroughly, then wipe the whole screen with neat screenwash concentrate. Also do the same to your wiper rubbers. Your screen has surface contaminants on it - usually caused by the chemical content in spray from wet roads.
  24. Sounds like you have a faulty temp switch - this will have been "bridged" to make the fan work.
