  1. Most vehicles on the road all use ATF in their power steering systems. VAG cars use a special green fluid & not ATF. Many garages either forget this fact or just don't know. They automatically use ATF in all steering systems - not good if you have a VW car !!
  2. Craigs8vgti, Check your oil & water for cross-contamination. My m8 has a 1.8-16v too & was having similar symtoms to you. Turns out, his headgasket had blown :shock:

  4. Remove the top hose from the radiator & remove the expansion tank cap. Fill the system through the top hose & also make sure the radiator fills - easiest to use a watering can. When coolant system is full, re-connect the top hose & if necessary top-up the expansion tank. Leave the expansion tank cap off & run the engine for a couple of minutes Switch the engine off & if necessary, top-up the expansion tank again. Re-fit the expansion tank cap & run the engine until the radiator fan cuts in. Switch off the engine, leave to cool & again check the water level.

  6. The wires get very brittle with age - sometimes it doesn't take much for the connector to come off the end of the wire :wink:
  7. Do it with some urgency - the red stuff (ATF) will damage the seals in your steering pump & steering rack. :shock:

  11. nikosg60, Well excuse me matey Here in the UK, we have an annual MOT test. The legal c/o emissions are tested by a department of transport certified testing station with ALL sensors connected. :shock:
  12. nikosg60, That is the proceedure for setting the timing & not the proceedure for setting the c/o when the timing is known to be correct. The c/o must always have it's adjustment done with all sensors connected. :wink:
  13. The G60 oil filter has an internal valve - very close to the internal screw threads, where the filter screws on to the filter housing. Some of the other filters also have what apears to be a valve but this is much further down inside the filter. IMO - after all the money that we all throw at these cars, trying to save a couple of quid on an (incorrect) oil filter is ridiculous.
  14. Nope - the heater matrix is a sealed unit. Just a thought - has your coolant been changed recently ?? G60's should always be re-filled via the top radiator hose or air locks could well be in the system :!:
  15. Errr - no idea. :silly: I'll add them to my list of things to check tomorrow - my G60 has never had any valves fitted to the heater pipes at all :roll:

Too right 8) , my m8's was a 1986, dark'ish blue turbo & had some of the fattest rear tyres that I've ever seen on a road car :shock: It was RWD - the only wheels which should be driven in a true sports car :wink: 4WD takes all the excitement away - RWD may not always be as quick but it's way more exciting to drive. 8)
  17. Corrado's have "taper" type rear wheel bearings & should be no more than hand tight :shock:
  18. Original 911 turbo for me - I loved being able to throw it around. Back end can be kept where it needs to be with a bit of practice. Dis-used airfield is a good place to get some driving practice. :wink:

  22. Agreed - one of my mates used to have an old 911 turbo. For sheer driving fun & excitement - it cannot be beaten. :wink:
