    Passat handles

    biggrim, - I'll re-post next week with the relevant info  BTW - what's a "palce" ??
  2. gonna move this to the problems section
  3. They will have had to adjust the steering pump & remove/refit the steering belt to do the cambelt. May just be a weak steering pipe - is it leaking fluid ?? Or is the steering belt loose/worn ??

    Passat handles

Gonna see if we do the relevant bits when I get back to work on Monday - could do with de-locking my doors.

    G60 power

Jabba stage 4's aren't very much different from a standard rebuild - waste of money IMO. Biggest gain for little money is a 68mm pulley & rechip - maybe 20bhp increase. U could go for an R1 upgrade (like I did) - enlarged inlet & outlet chambers, ported & polished. Use this with a 65mm pulley & rechip - you'll see plenty more power & be faster than any standard VR6's around. If u go down this avenue, you'll also need a set of red top hi-flow injectors. Darren (g-werks) is your man for the charger rebuild, he'll be able to advise u further.
  6. Car & potential passenger look fantastic - that spoiler really does look sh1te tho !!
  7. Ideally, you'll need a spring compressor too - or you could just use some heavy duty cable ties, bit of a bodge but I use them !! If it was new when u fitted it - take it back & get a free replacement.
  8. If you're doing the job yourself, you'll need a spring compressor to do the front top mounts - possible to use heavy duty cable ties (as I have in the past) but beware.
  9. AFAIK - there's a small one in the tank too - part of the fuel sender unit. I would just double up on the existing pump - fit another identical pump to the system. Many 4 cylinder 2 litre & 2.2 litre Merc's use this principle - 1 small lift pump in the tank & 2 main fuel pumps (identical) mounted next to the osr wheelarch. The volume vs pressure question - logically for increased volume at the same pressure, wouldn't the fuel pipes need to be a larger diameter ?
  10. Just get your head underneath & wobble the tailpipe/silencer - you'll see the silencer hitting the bottom mounting bolt of the rear shocker.
  11. Not on the little internal charger belt Put talc on the big belt which runs around the charger pulley, alternator pulley, crankshaft pulley, etc. Use plenty too - don't worry about it going all over the engine bay, it will soon disappear. In fact, if you do this while the engine is idling, you'll literally hear the noise disappear.
  12. Go with the talc Jim - it was the weather which used to (&probably still does) cause the Merc problem too
  13. Yeah - c'mon stel, where's your photo ? I posted mine on the previous page
  14. yeah "Brut for Men" is definitely the best - smells good too   On a more serious note - the talcum powder idea came from the Mercedes warranty department - kind of an "official" repair proceedure.
  15. That's exactly what we used to do when I worked for Mercedes - very effective  In fact we used to sprinkle it all over the belt
  16. Nope - not unless you go to track days, etc I have some drilled Brembos on the front of my G60 & there's absoloutely no difference whatsoever to the standard ones, although they do look much better - visible through the spokes of my wheels 8) If you want better brakes then go for the Brembo or Willwood 4 pot calipers & larger diameter discs. Incidentally - I will be running an offer in a few weeks time for the larger diameter Brembo discs & 4 pot calipers, etc. I'll be buying these direct from the factory & so should be quite competetive on price
  17. Thanks 'jedigtr' what ya want is a nice waxing

    clutch cable?

Yup - certainly are Fully hydraulic clutch - not a cable in sight
  19. Your car will have left the factory with 4 identical tyres If your wheels are all the same, I would suggest that you use the same tyre sizes all the way round the car. It is essential that tyres on the same axle are identical in size & preferably the same make/tread pattern too. The reasons for this will become apparent during hard cornering and/or hard braking. It is sometimes possible to fit different/wider wheels to the rear axle - many people do. These are accompanied by wider tyres but have no performance benefit on front wheel drive cars. In the interests of safety - if all 4 wheels are identical, I would strongly suggest that all 4 tyres should be the same size. If you'd ever taken the car on a skid-pan or an old airfield, you'd understand why :? Different tyre sizes will also invalidate your insurance if you have an accident (unless you have already informed them)
  20. H100VW, - you were right about the G60 distributors Gav. Guy at local VW dealers was wrong when he told me there were 2 different types - I just got off the phone with my m8 at VWUK. He says the same as you - they're all the same.
  21. close to 3 grand
  22. Best combination is: 2 x Lupo GTI drivers wiper arms 1 x Lupo GTI drivers blade - fit to pass side of Corrado 1 x Lupo GTI passengers blade - fit to drivers side of Corrado Many people have fitted 2 x drivers arms & blades but the best combination is above Any further discussion can be added here - http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=153
  23. Lots of use m8 - cheers
