G60 is still the plan, few pics below: > Sub frame blasted, painted, new bushes, ball joints etc > Engine now mostly rebuilt, new HGasket,cam belt, etc Meanwhile: > Stg2 charger sold, new stg4 charger been to OCD for service > AP coilovers ordered

Hi All, Been away from the C for way to long on other projects and working away, it is now time to get back to running. Following a bay respray in the wrong colour which i only found once i had stripped all the running gear, the C has been sat on axle stands awaiting new paint. Sick of people painting my car the wrong colour (body is currently MK1 Golf Helios Blue after another bodyshop screw-up), I decided to take it on myself - rattle can styleee. So, bay now repainted in the right colour; bit of sealer tidying and smoothing along the way, also battery tray delete to make room for FMIC - battery being relocated to the boot. Hopefully more progress to follow :)

Hi All, After way to much time away from my C on other projects (Houses etc), finally got my engine bay re-repainted following a colour mis-hap (Not mine i might add) and now pushing on. Few quick Q's if anyone can lend some input: Have a strut brace to fit (see pic), anyone have any experience of clearance issues with these? Looks seriously tight in terms of fit [i assume i have it the correct way round?] Is it wise to wait until everything is back in for clearance against inlet manifold? Was looking to get the strut top fixings in early while easy to clean swarf etc away Gone to refit the brake servo, MC and clutch MC - is the clutch MC retained by bolts through the bulkhead? ETKA looks to show studs (See attached screen shot) Cheers

Now nearing the end of a long saga, I thought it maybe of benefit to post this story in case it helps others. Around 6yrs ago my C went in for a full respray in the original colour of Helios Blue, when it came to reassembly and the 'Corrado' badge was put back on the car (which hadn't been painted in the new paint) it was a totally different colour; this led to massive arguements which were never settled - respray went back on the to-do list. Once I started my transplant I wanted the engine bay to look pukka, so found a reputable painter late last year, explained what had happened and booked in in for a bay spray with a view to getting the body done once the engine was in; all looked good with the bay looking more like the colour I remembered. So work continued with me nearing the point of the engine going back in, had a few small rust spots that appeared on the firewall in plain sight so looked to do a local repair myself - ordered a few more rattle cans from Autopaint and away we went. Came to lacquer this week and stripped the masking to find yet another massive difference in colour! In looking for resolution, took some the engine parts I had body coloured myself and went looking for some original paint for comparison - boot floor result, and my rattle cans were bang on. Bit more digging and a call to Autopaint and mystery solved: There 3 VW Helios Blues: LA5Y, LV5E and LV5Y all of which are quite significantly different but under the same name - it would appear that not all manufactures make all 3 and will sent one in lieu of another or if your bodyshop just asks for 'Helios Blue' then you could get anyone of the 3. I appreciate there probably arent many C's in Helios Blue (led to believe it only ran for the first 6mnths) but thought this story might save another the same nightmare with another colour, Got to mention the guys at Autopaint, St Helens for their help and product - will be ordering the paint myself for the body :) As Im currently short of running gear to get it to a bodyshop, Im going to see what finish I can achieve in the bay with cans, few Qs if anyone can assist: > Even though im overspraying good paint that will be keyed, should I prime anyway? I lean towards always using Primer but haven't ever needed to paint over new paint > Whats the crack with Scotch pads to key? Never used them - Pros/Cons, Which type/colour etc Thanks

On my G60 quest I am looking for some missing pieces of the puzzle: > Blue coolant sensor plug + short section of loom to splice > Lambda plug and short section of loom to splice > Offside rear engine mount bolt (outer most) > G60 De-cat if anyone has one around Thanks 👍 Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk

Currently cleaning up my G60 manifold, anyone know what the stainless plate on the back for and the additional studs? Studs on mine are shot and just want to check I wont need them later. Cheers

Excuse the thread revival. Now working on this myself, have people put fuses/CBs at both ends of the battery cable or just the boot - I'm looking at 150A CB by the battery (need to check the amps) but there seems to be thoughts on both ends?
