    Is the general consensus that this can only be done with the engine in the car? As I'm planning new paint in the bay and fairly extensive TLC to the engine, dont really want to be jumping around on scaffold tubes with sockets on if it can be avoided

    I know this is usually a bad idea when trying to clean an engine but wondered if its an option. Before transplant its going to get a good dose of tlc, paint and polish; Q is can I use a pressure washer to clean it first? Its on a stand, nothing electrical apart from sensors I can protect, all openings covered - also will be getting a new head gasket etc anyway. Can anyone see any issues?

    Out of interest does anybody know what this plate is? Found it under years of dirt and grime: Also, is that round plate in the bottom of the pic where the carbon canister would go through? Didn't realise some C's didn't have them? Cheers
