thats disgusting mate!!! I would get the name of one of the directors or someone REALLY high up and write a letter and send it recorded. Because its recorded the person on the envelope has to sign for it!! Not like a normal letter which gets only as far as secetary!! Also they WILL have a top level complaints team which if you are persistant enough you will get through to. I dont work for the RAC I might add but HAVE been screwed around before, granted not as bad as you. Hope you get it sorted and keep us updated. Give 'em hell

Audi Vs VW, A3 Vs Golf..which would you have?
Son of a Beesting replied to Son of a Beesting's topic in General Car Chat

Thanks for the update Kev. I think there were 3 types of engine. The pre-2000 ones got the pick of the heads and the smaller turbo. Then after 2000 the heads went down a bit due to money saving but still had the same turbo. Then like you said the runout MK4 got the 180 bhp setup. I could of course be miles out -

i did think about the Cupra, but I dont really want a 5-door. I am difficult I know!!! I think I need a post 2000 car to get the K03S turbo?? so thats what im looking at! I think the MK4 with a few mods looks real nice, just need one in a dark colour as 80% of them in the area are silver.. Thanks for the advice. -

Thanks for the replies guys. I am sure that the TDI is an awesome car, of that im in no doubt at all. its just the sound that puts me off..... Yeah I am leaning towards the MK4, just because you can get more car for your money. I think a 180bhp golf is out of my price bracket although :( Now I just got to find one!! -

emmmmm i like the idea of the quattro sport but i thought the quattro system is the same as the one used in the S3 and that needs regular oil changes etc and can get very expensive! I looked at the TDI but I cant get over the exhaust note, Im shallow like that. -
hello Guys some advice needed please. I have sold my G60 and now on the look out for a new car. I kinda like the older style A3 (about 1999-2000) or a Mk4 Golf. The engine would be the 1.8T either way. Basically I am after something that would be better MPG and nice to drive. I know neither will be as much fun as the G60. I would like something that doesnt need quite as much work to keep it going. Has anyone driven either of these cars? Any words of advice, what do you think is a better overall car. I can get a newer Golf compared to the A3, but the A3 is a bit rarer. I have about £7000 to spend tops. Cheers Rich

I would stay away from the selespeed one if you can and mate at work says need to put oil in every two weeks or so as Alfa's drink the stuff!!

HAHAHAHAHA Its got to be jealously or stupidity. Sounds like the kinda person who buys a car based on what the adverts tell him. People like that know nothing about cars. If he wants to join the ranks of the bland masses let him. He hasnt even got a decent engine in his car!! Typical bottom of the rung model driver, thinks he drives an M3 or something. You should be proud to have such a presitigious (sp) car that had and still does draw so much respect. I would point and laugh at him when you see him next.

I had this a while ago, changed the belts, idler pullies and the cambelt tensioner and it sorted it. It was actually the camblet tensioner that was causing the squeeking for me. I presume from your post you changed all these things so I cant really think what else it could be???

have you tried Venom motorsport?

Fuel supply problem?? Changed your fuel filter lately? -
hello I know this is probably a sin but I have a question relating to a mk2 golf gti on a d-reg not a Corrado.  Its my mates car and he has irratic idle problems. If he slows down while changing gears it goes to stall. When he is stationary it idles irratically. I thought it could be the ISV but do d-reg golfs have an ISV?? I thought it could be the fuel filter, but it does not hesitate on WOT. Any ideas what it could be?? Plugs and leads maybe?? Any advice would be great as think he wants to come over tonight to get it sorted. Thanks

Ok Im looking at selling my pearl grey 91 Corrado G60 on a J plate. It has just under 83K on the clock and I'm the second owner. Interior in very good condition Engine Stage4 JMR charger done 8k ago Milltek de-cat exhaust Uprated headlight loom and bulbs Mocal Oil Cooler K&N air filter Brakes and Suspension New brake discs all round MK4 rear brake upgrade Goodridge braided hoses Powerflex bushes FK Konigsport Coilovers New wishbones Pagid Fast Road pads Cambelt done about 20K ago Alarm Newly installed Autowatch RLi160 ICE Audioscape door pods Doors sound deadened Other Alpine and Focal bits of kit, may or may not leave in Misc New pullies and belts Camblet bolt changed Lupo GTi windscreen wipers Tinted rear lights to red Badgeless grill (or early or late style, got them all!!) Regular oil and filter changes Full VAG service history apart from last year or so when done by specialist BIG folder of receipts No issues that im aware of with the car and starts on the button and never misses a beat. Bad points, few stone chips and car park dents, but no more than any car of this age. There is also small chip in windscreen but not an MOT failure I have basically spent the last year getting it up to how it should have left VAG before I started on big power gains, Unfortuntely a change of circumstances has forced my hand into selling my proide and joy  So what do you think I should ask for her?? Cheers

Hello I was wondering if anyone knows what the MPG of a golf MK4 1.8T was compared to a standard G60? better? Anyone have expriences of the golf, what you think?? Cheers
-
Ouch that sucks mate, those damn tow people dont give a crap reminds me of a scene from Liar Liar. You have mine (and no doubt everyone elses) sympathy. With the BB kit you also need the silencer otherwise your ears will prob bleed on a long journey and thats a few £££ more I believe. Also is the price of £1400 inclusive of import tax?? I think darren might be the guy you need to talk to cause he knows more about chargers and your options than most. Hope you get it sorted.

I took my driving test in Ashford! I live in Maidenhead, Berkshire near to Slough and Reading. I not done anything out of the ordinary, Stage4 rebuild, Milltek cat-back exhaust, Konigsport coilovers, oil cooler, etc basic stuff really. In talks about new intercooler. Getting the car up to scratch before pulley etc goes on. If your into audio get yourself on the Audioscape GB on the forum, I got a load of stuff from them and if you like your SQ I would recommend it. -
I live in Maidenhead just quite close!! have to keep an eye out for ya
