Official P6000’s are pants Now I know this may cause a debate but what the hell. I fitted 2 new P6000 to my Storm not so long ago (they still have the furry bits on the side walls) and they are worn, evenly down to the wear indicator bar. I have covered………………..Wait 4 it……….. ……..a shade under 4000 miles. No b4 u ask have not seen any track days No have not been running the C ragged No Have not been riding the breaks. In Fact, Yes I have enjoyed my C but I would guess that 80% of the time I was driving “normally” with a healthy fuel economy return of circa 25 to 33 mpg (see a new tread …in a minute or two re: Super Unleaded V’s Leaded” So what do ya recon? Getting a new set of boots tomorrow from my friendly tyre fitter for free (again)

Vr6's will burn oil as normal. When you say a lot, what do you mean? The C when New would typically burn circa 1ltr/1kmiles. no worries My C now burns around the same with 52k on her maybe a little less for some reason or another. I Would be more concerned about the blue smoke. sign of a very tired engine, but as u say only in higher RPM would be of no great concern. Maybe your mind playing tricks. If the engine was cold or with continuous blue smoke would be a sure sign of the bug bang. Hope this is of interest. but define high oil usage.

Bastard Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Interesting word but not one that I would use in your instance. Suggest a move? You cant shoot them all… Have a much more success rate out may way as I am pleased to say ” Everybody is terrible nose out here old chap” Only downside is you might have to put a tow-bar for the horses you know I am absolutely LIVID!!!!!!!!!!! now I like that one certainly has a way with words Kieran. -
It certainly is not. VR engine is renowned for its purr and whine when you wind it up around 4.2Krpm. Slight “tapping/knocking” is acceptable for a few seconds max while the tappets and cam are introduced to oil from the pump. Older engines with anywhere between 80 and 120k on the clock will develop a more continuous knocking to the left hand side of the engine will be expected by the tensioner pulley and timing chain been worn. This should be replaced as soon as and while you are at it, cluch replacement owing to the removal of the engine. Sorry but that is the total of my knowledge and unable to help further with your problem. Hope you get it sorted anyway and without much expense.

Hi end I would say Pirelli P-Zero's ????? Gone off pirelli. Agree. Had P-Zero's on my old C many years ago and found them to be a good all rounder but you paid front end. Currently have P6000 on my Storm. OMG have done less than 4K on the front and are down to te 1.5mm bar. Never again and b4 u ask....No, Not driving hard for 75% of the time. Just Normal and I am not one for breaks (feather the trottle) Have Yokomahamas on the AWD Outlander. Just covered 5K and they look like New... Thnk the C VR6 frontend is Very Heavey...............end

I is nice, V Nice indeed but keeping it that way will prove a challange. I Wanna get my hands dirty on an old clapped out C and make it mint. Turbo VR6, As low as yours, tasty Kit and Lambo doors Full red Leather and White body work with 17th inch boots. Hmmm. cant realy do that to a standard Storm now can I? how have you been anyway Blue. long time no see.

http://www.carsource.co.uk http://www.exchangeandmart.co.uk http://www.loot.com Worth a look me think? Good luck. Dont suppose you fancy a storm with 52.5k and history?
-
Not really sure. I know she was bored out to 3.1L new cams ect ect. Bit like VVT I would imagine. Shockingly quick kid you not. I believe it was a 360bhp+ conversion with a turbo. Not sure of the 0-60 but circa 5.2-5. The doctor owner spent about £4k on it. And god. do i miss her? is the pope catholic?
-
Think you are talking about a govenor? The VR has one as do all cars to stop the engine going pop with exxessive rpm. Had my last VR derestricted in germany some years (10) ago. Lots of mods done and 8500 rpm. Had her up to 175 and felt like there was much much more left from the old girl but engine expectancy would be circa 20k if you were lucky.

BMW driver. nuf said  food for thought! road angle is only a box of on of switches and resisters ect. M5 could be a 518i with a badge and twin port exaust. sticker on the screen. best stop there :D
-
Hmmmm. Not in this country. Mind you on a very quiet/very early M1 Many years ago, Took the old Vr6 to 145. Loads of life left in her and felt very poised. It was derestricted and had her up to 175 flat out up the road in silverstone. but 201 on public roads? I dont think so.

Mine started to do the same SNAP. When it is cold it will come on. When It is hot it does not come on. When it is cold and has come on, turn of the engine for a few seconds and re-start. it should go off. if it does, you only need to add a little water/mix 60/40%. If it still comes on when it has warmed up and the temp rises to 110 C+ then suspect faulty thermastat/reader/sender. Hope this helps.
