40mm is fine and to be fair quite a modest drop anyhow. Loads of people run it much lower than that with no ill effects (other than a bit of spoiler scrapage) I don

Std hoses are absolutely fine, it's just that they get old and perished.

Can you feel any slack in the drivetrain at all? (coming on and off the power)

Definitely an oil cooler! FMIC too and a nice exhaust manifold and full system

I actually learning that. It does help to match the revs although the problem is still present when shifting up. I dread to think what it'll feel like when my Mrs has a go in the car for the first time. She's quite brutal with the Puma's gearbox

It was a News of the World scoop after all.. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/ ... 649197.ece Apologies if this is a repost - I did search Finally, I can use this smilie legitimately: :hitler:

Cheers Kev. In terms of tuning I'm going to leave it be for a while. I'm getting married in November and moving house soon hopefully so Corrado expenditure will be limited to "essentials only" for the time being. The car car feels very tight apart from this problem. However, there is the occassional clonk through the steering under power if you're cornering on a bumpy road. Not sure if this is related to the shunt though. My VR's a very early one (dizzy not coil) so it certainly won't have any of the refinements you mentioned. It's the biggest single annoyance with the car really as apart foom that it's ace. So frustrating when you brake for a corner, feed the wheel nice and smoothly and bring the power on and there's this shunt through the whole car which makes your passenger think you're a clumsy oaf!

The engine seemed pretty solid in the bay as I had it checked when I took it to JMR for a load of work. I guess it's worth a punt as they're cheap though.

The gearchange has got better and the clutch action a lot lighter (not that it was heavy before) but the driveline shunt remains. I reckon it

I drove one of them about when I marshalled on the Gumball Rally except it had a complete gold vinyl body wrap :gag: It was incredibly responsive though

I had an awesome cold air feed on my old G60. It involved a T off the brake duct feed using some drain pipe sealed and glued with bodyshop panel adhesive and a length of ducting and the previously discussed carbon canister removal. It didn

I had mine changed with Synta Silver yesterday although we put a tin of Wurth oil treatment in the old oil prior to draining it out and left it to idle for 10 mins or so. I was pretty shocked by the new price of Synta Silver though. £45 for however much a VR takes  For that price I reckon oilman could sell you some full ether synthetic.

My ABS was VAGCOM'd yesterday and it had a fault on the power supply and a fault in the actual valve control unit (over £1600 from VAG). Might have to go to the scrappie methinks.

I spent yesterday down at JMR with the VR. It looks like I

I guess you're right - I'd just rather buy the car from the source TCS uses. For some reason I never thought of looking to the trade when I bought my G60 and VR. I'd rather see an enthusiastic seller (preferably off a forum) who's looked after the car and knows a bit about its history. I suppose when it comes down to it you pay £x for a car of a given condition and it doesn't matter who is selling it though.
-
If I was looking at a 159k mile valver I'd look out for a top end rebuild. Certainly look for blue smoke I'd avoid TCS and stick with private buying. Only because you're lining someone else's pocket with your hard earned. If you read up on the various buyers guides and the forum's Knowledge Base you'll learn loads: http://the-corrado.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page And use the forum's pre-viewing facility: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11067 You can't go far wrong :smug:

Why didn't VW make any more supercharged cars?

What about the VW recommended oil - Synta Silver? Will that run fine at 120 degrees?

Welcome  You've got a beaut there :) Right colour and right spec, been a forum car for a while too

I don't know the answer to your question although I do know of some mint heated leather Recaro's for sale with looms. You'll be lucky to find a car with them fitted as it was a very rare option. Drop me a pm if you like 8)

My mates just bought a 996 GT3 so there's no way I can compete with that! Still, I 'd rather buy some rear tyres or brake discs for the Vr than a GT3 ;-)
