My mate's got a Milltek on his Mk 3 Golf VR and it's pretty loud. He used to have a decat on it as well and that was REALLY loud. Too loud for me personally. Depends on what you're used to I guess, one persons loud drone is another's glorious roar!

The Lupo kit is just the arms and blades. It does improve things although part of the problem on mine was a sloppy linkage and a tired motor and/or wiring. Still, it acted as a good deterrant from going too quickly when it was raining  The Lupo mod can also be done on the rear although it involves a blob of weld and shortening of the original arm 8) The uprated loom is sooo worth doing, not so bad in the summer when the evenings are long but it's essential in winter. Might be worth taking it to a specialist for a once over too, make sure there aren't any hidden nasties. Stealth isn't a million miles away from you.

I bought one of these and they even predrilled the holes for my 8 inch drivers. The quality was absolutely spot on and it looked completely stock from outside. http://www.autoacoustics.com/supershelves.htm

Teins are OK but quite a few failed when I was on the SXOC.com when I had my S14A. Generally their quality seems pretty good though. The Superstreets are their cheapest one and do not have an adjustable spring platform, that is to say the only way to adjust ride height is to adjust the preload which isn't ideal. The more gucci ones have ride height and preload adjustable separately. I've been in a mates old RX7 with more expensive Teins though and the ride was very good.

Your 'Rado looks awesome! -
Agreed, it's ridiculous. :?

Check out http://www.gtspirit.com too. Such a shame and a massive tragedy. I suppose it was an accident waiting to happen. Gumball has become so big that I think drivers felt it gave them carte blanche to drive ever more irresponsibly. As marshalls we had to sign disclaimers that prevented us from drinking or taking drugs at all during the event. Shame the drivers in charge of the 500bhp cars didn't have a similar document to sign. That's not to say that the drivers were over the limit but there are big parties all night with lots of booze followed by early starts. It really was an accident waiting to happen, no sleep, fast cars, public roads, long stages, big parties ... Plus the time taken for Gumball to issue a press statement was tantamount to PR suicide. If I was Adidas, Co-Pilot, T-Mobile or Meguirs I don't think I'd want my name associated with the event any more and when the sponsorhip dries up....

Pimp daddy! Looks a bit like Tein EDFC

Looks like a really slick job. I spoke to John a few weeks ago and he's finally gone full time with a proper huge workshop. I'll have to go down and see him soon. :)

I spotted John's mark on the supercharger. Have you taken tips from his 16VG60 build?

It should be absolutely fine.

VAG synthetic gearbox oil and late selector tower on early C
Neil VR6 replied to davidwort's topic in Drivetrain
I ran my replacement 'box with VAG fully synthetic gear oil and the shift quality was much better :) -
Max owns Gumball. The stripes are are just that; Adidas stripes as they are the principal sponsors.

Off out now - a ZO6 has just pulled up outside...

Another LM shot. They were easily the noisiest cars on the track. http://www.photobox.co.uk/album/album_f ... o=84454077 -
Yeah, it was one of those opportunities you can't miss. Westwood was cool. I think he sounds like an @rse on the radio but I guess it's all an act. He was very accomodating in person and grateful for the marshall's efforts. There are loads of photos on flickr if you search for "gumball".

Some guy scraped his Zonda's sill on the car park kerb!

The pics aren't great as I had to snap them really quickly in between working:

The mural on the SLR is the guys girlfriend/wife and that 997 was Revo tuned to something well over 500 brake. The guy who owned it was a nice guy too. Got some pics on the way..

I wonder how the standard spec on both compares? BM and Audi are renowned for having a vast and eye watering array of options.
-
Aaaah. I see. That would be the best thing as boost can be linked to individual maps. Much better. :thumbleft:
-
An electronic controller can give you the option to have different settings. You can have a granny setting for going to the shops or when you lend it to the other half ;) and a high boost setting for more "progressive" driving. Electronic devices do hold the boost rock solid having seen lots of RR print outs with cars running such controllers.

The chip sounds dubious to me too. What does stage 3 mean?
-
Yup, absolutely :) Hope you enjoy it!

Not really TBH. I'm gonna be stuck in the car park all Saturday although I'm on "crowd management" on the Sunday from midday. All the cars will roll down onto the grid at about midday on Sunday. I'm not sure what I should say but I think there will be celebs sprinkled amongst the grid so there won't be any benefit to being in any given place. There's a big static display at Waterloo St though where non-Gumball cars will be displayed with trade stands from the sponsors and a huge screen. It should be a good day. I get free shoes and stuff too :)
