Knockhill hold open track nights fairly regular i think, if theres another one around the time your on holiday im sure some of us could easily be convinced to go again. :-P

Heres a pic of them from Biggar last year. 8)

87.9 this end of the town. :(

Sounds like just what I need, are those the TAS ones? There websites down so where can I get some? What arbs's are you running? :?:
-
I might also remove my rear seats and spare, but depends on the weather, if its looking like being wet that night I dont think it will be a good idea to remove weight from the rear only.
-
Agreed, makes a big difference to the brakes as well, my first run there was smoke coming off the brakes and I got huge fade, after that taking it slightly easier I was able to stay on the track for longer with not too much fade, no smoke then either.

Is that the mounts that offset the damper to add camber?
-
I like the Kamei one that I have fitted. Dont know how much they are as mine had it when I bought the car but Roddy should be able to tell you as hes just fitted one too, check out the members gallery.

I ran standard pressures last time at Knockhill and the tread at the side of my front left tyre has really taking a beating. Next time im going to try a bit more pressure, the idea is that when your pushing it round the corners the the centre tread is putting more pressure onto the ground giving more grip and more even wear. (Thats the theory anyway.)

2.8 - 2.9 Differences - blown engine - worn out engine issue
Joe M replied to Storm's topic in Engine Bay
Its a true V but with the layout of an inline if you ignore the cylinders. :? -
2.8 - 2.9 Differences - blown engine - worn out engine issue
Joe M replied to Storm's topic in Engine Bay
Its like a straight six in that it uses a single cylinder head and it has the inlet on one side and the exaust on the other. Its also a V due to the angle so its both really, though it probably does have more in common with the inline 6. Vee Reheinmotor apparently means Inline V. -
Info on octane ratings. http://www.btinternet.com/~madmole/Refe ... ONPON.html In short, American 92 is measurd in PON and is equivalent to our 96 RON but they have better quality control.

Not fitted yet as im waiting on an adapter for 1 of my hoses. Id imagine they will make a huge difference on mine though as the disks and pads I currently have are well worn. Problem with this is I wont be able to tell you how much better they are than good condition standard brakes. :?
-
vr and g60 calipers and carriers are the same, just the bolt pattern on the disks thats different. The 288mm brakes have the slightly larger disks and different carriers. The calipers are a different design that use banjo bolts on the hoses and the pads have a lot more surface area. 8)

I doubt it would make much difference on the 2.9, its more for the 2.8's that have a more restricted inlet manifold as standard. (EIP are an american company and they didnt have the 2.9 over there.)

I managed to hit a new high for my oil temp last night of 130. I was going round Knockhill at the time though. 8)

Could it be down to the chip in your ecu? I remember you had to change your ecu, is it for the 2.9 or is it from a golf? With the 268 cams and head flowing it may just not be able to cope. :?

Pics of new mods, fitted and in progress. 8) Also made the vwccgb rr day, got 199.5bhp (before schrick) this time but had a blowing exaust and my throttle body was loose.
-
Had this on my 16v as well, I only found out after the handbrake came right out the floor and I noticed it had been previously fixed with chemical metal stuff. I managed to boj it together with some small bolts and big washers, though I reckon ideally it needs welded. :(
-
Not really wierd at all, it will depend on what units are being used. Power is usually in bhp but sometimes its measured in PS. Same with torque, unless its bhp and lb-ft theres no reason for it to cross at 5252.
-
Looks like osv's raddo. 8)
-
I never, cost me about £180 for the rears and about £150 for the front.
-
Ive just checked this out on mine, im at about 4250rpm at 100mph in 5th, maybe Star got the final drive gear mixed up with another when they fitted my diff. Kev, so do you think its worth the extra to get the larger throttle body and a remap then?
-
No need, the hole is only about a half cm deep to clip the damper into, it doesnt actually go straight through into the intake hose.
-
Pics 8) I fitted some hose clamps to the vacuum pipes today (they were definately leaking) and the top end seems to have returned. :D Also a pic of my bonnet, once the paints touched up i reckon it will look ok.
