If its from a late 96 on gti or vr they will be no use to you as they have the 288mm disks that are only available in 5 stud. Pre '96 you should be ok but will still need g60 disks to get them for 4 studs.

No thanks, im happy with my speedlines. :) quikstu, its a Kamei eyebrow spoiler (possibly a replica, was on the car when I got it). I think you can get similar from gsf for about £25. The grill is an FK one and I think there normally about £80. You going to Kames end of the month? There will likely be a convoy heading from Glasgow if your interested.

What you need are calipers, carriers and pads from a vr6/g60 and the disks from a g60. Ive got everything except the disks for sale if you wanna make me an offer? (If you havent already bought the other kit.) Click the link in my sig.

The c2 kit uses a larger supercharger than the vf engineering kit that is more common (and comparable with the z engineering kit). It also comes with the larger injectors on the stage 1 kit that you have to go to stage 2 for with others. Its still a bit steep, but sounds like the best value supercharger kit going

You are correct, the schrick inlet has different length runners to compensate for this. Dunno about the exaust manifold though.

Does sound a bit high unless your absolutely caning it. Mine rarely goes above 110, though if im on a country road ive seen 128, on track 140. If your hitting 134 with just normal driving I wouldnt think about an oil cooler until you figure out why its getting so high in the first place. :?

I found this loose on mine as well when I fitted my Schrek and had to clip it back on, heres the pic you need.

Im convinced a decat will make a decent improvement on a vr. Dick Dastardleys vr made 190 on the rollers before decat and mine made 205 before schrick. On the way to knockhill the other night with them mods added I couldnt keep up. Decats next on my list with a throttle body after my mot next week, ill let you know if I notice much improvement. 8)

I think its part of the dizzy but im sure you can get a kit to replace it on the 1.8's instead of having to buy the full thing. :? Might not be as quick as a vr but it still took me most of the straight coming out of the hairpin to get past you.

Sounds like it could be the hall sender on the distributor giving up. Your car certainly didnt seem down on power down the straights so I wouldnt think it was the air flow meter.

I dont think it matters what one Ian starts with as AFAIK the butterfly is replaced for a larger than 2.9 one and they should both end up the same spec once done. Ive sent Ian a link to this thread so once hes back he will likely pop in considering the amount of queries people will have.

Alpina 527 just got back to me. Ill be getting one as soon as ive got the cash together. 8)

Not sure if they come off a bm, I reckon he can modify most throttle bodies. Ive sent an email asking for more info so ill post it up once he gets back to me.
-
Theres a guy on ebay that does the throttle bodies to the same spec as amd, with a larger butterfly. I think his username is Alpina527 and he seems to be highly recommended on BMW forums. I think he charges about £100 exchange so a good deal cheaper than amd, ill be getting one when ive got some cash together.

I got a good deal off ebay from a golf that had done 500miles on the disks and pads then rolled. Saves me having to bed them for ages. 8) Bigger pad area, slightly more leverage, newer design and the disks are also thicker so theres more material to absorb the heat meaning it takes a lot more heavy braking to get any fade.
-
Velcro on the corners where it sits on the plastic side bits. (Techy description.) 8) One of the first things I done to my vr after having the same prob in my old 16v.

I'm interested in doing this as my VR brakes feel weak compared to a G60's. Not sure if that's just VRs in general or due to mine being poo.... So do I just need the calipers pads and discs from a Golf Highline then, or even a MK4? What models of MK4 uses the 288 setup? K I just got mine fitted today and there fantastic, 8) my old brakes were pretty badly worn though so the comparison isnt exactly accurate. AFAIK you need the calipers and carriers from a late mk3 gti/vr6 or a mk4 that uses 288mm brakes. You also need new hoses as they use a banjo connection on the caliper. The disks you get for them have to be from the mk3 as mk4 disks have a different offset.

If you havent got a set of 280's yet give me a shout.
-
Sorry, im sure I seen Mike mention in another thread he was putting 288's on the front, thats why I mentioned that. Ive actually got a set of mk4 rears to go on at some point as well but the current calipers are fine so is it worth having them fitted? Do they offer any performance benefit or do they just not seize as easy?
-
The Mk3/4 is the 288's that ive got going on tommorow. 8)

Nice pics 8) Roll on thursday  (forum Knockhill night.)
-
Yeah, I should be there on the Sunday. Not sure what time im heading down though. Will your C be ready by then?

Apparently the pads overlap the disk slightly when them calipers are fitted so you end up with a bit of a lip on them. (The pad). Not a major problem though and easy enough to grind off occasionaly.

Cool, I was wondering that as well If they kept popping off constantly I dont think they would sell so many, there everywhere. I reckon they would only pop off if you dont use decent clips or possibly if the front engine mount is knackered the top rad hose could come off.
