It can be at the brake sevo valve thing but I dont think it will work at the vacuum tank though due to the shape of it. I'll give it a go tommorow. Will also get a pic of what happens to your bonnet if you dont cut a section out. Was intentional, I spoke to another vw specialist that said let the schrick make its own space.

Finished mine today. 8) The wiring was probably the easiest bit of the fitting. Have to say im dissapointed with the vacuum hosing though, will need to get some new stuff. The hose that goes to the brake servo line fits the vacuum tank fine but is very loose at the other end. The other hose is loose on the vacuum tank but fine at the solenoid. My car also seems to have lost a bit at the top end but it could just seem that way down to the extra grunt down low or maybe my ecu's still adapting... :?

I like the smoked clears. 8)

Cool, was gonnae try an squeeze mine onto the strut tower between the washer bottle and coolant tank but that looks like the plcae it will probably end up.
-
Yeah, was exactly as I expected. Still good to feel the difference it makes under 4k though. 8) Wheres your vacuum tank mounted btw?
-
I left the battery in place as I knew I probably wouldnt have time to do the wiring.

Its fitted, 4 hours and many cuts on fingers later. Them bolts on the front of the manifold are a nightmare. Still to fit the vacuum tank and control unit but so far it drives well up to 4000, then dies. Like a mini turbocharger at 3000, no pinking and I havent done an ecu reset either.

Also consider the Fulda Carats, I had the toyo proxes on mine and found them to be great tyres, especially in the wet but they were just a bit too soft. You could really feel them squirming in the corners and they wore pretty quick. I replaced them with the Fuldas and they grip at least as well in the dry, no real difference in the wet but they seem more solid and dont squirm. 8) Pretty hard wearing so far too, only downside is a lack of rim protection. :?

You also need to consider that the rev counter could also be innacurate. My Schricks just arrived :D Fitting time 8)

I seen a dark coloured K reg near Drymen on the way to Stirling today. Anyone?

Not me, still awaiting delivery. :( Serves me right for waiting till the last minute to order a rear vt engine mount now I need to wait for that and theyll get sent at once. No Samcos till Tuesday either, my gimp brother wouldnt get out of bed the other morning to answer the door so im left with a card from parcel force.

I sure did, check it out. 8)

Nice one kev, those pics will come in handy. Does this mean my plan to position the controller inside the car under the glovebox might not work due to the wire lengths. :( Im pretty sure I seen on Guy Hartleys engine the bottom row of leads were still clipped into the plastic guides. It could be longer leads hes fitted though. :?

I just got my renewal in as well from elephant, £938.70. i went to the Bell direct and Admiral websites and got quotes of £917 and £928. I then emailed this back to elephant and now theyve just got back to me with a quote of £851.20 8) Well happy considering last years was £1685
-
Also try Bell direct and Admiral, there practically the same company as Elephant but I just managed to get another £80 off this years renewal by going between the 3 then staying with Elephant.

Some of the ecus do have an immobiliser function, you could cross reference the part number against the attached document. ps. This doc is made up from info I found round various sites, it may not be 100% accurate.

dr_mat, any chance you could find out what wire of the ecu the schrick goes to when you pick it up? And if you have a digi cam handy a pic of the underside of your bonnet would be nice....

If you set your wipers to there highest position at the moment you should notice that the drivers blade goes to the very top of the windscreen, if you fit the spare blade in its place it should drop it down about an inch.

The shreks have arrived. 8) :D :D :D :D :D

Whats the part number of the ecu you have and is it a dizzy or coilpack engine?
-
Isnt it the same setup that was fitted in your golf so if its the wrong ecu it wouldnt have worked then either?
-
grrr, I just seen there was a few new pages to this topic and thought the schricks had arrived.
-
I cant remember the standard 16v size but also try http://www.mytyres.co.uk/ They were by far the cheapest when I got tyres last month.

Got it out easy enough in the end when I could see what I was doing. Turns out a long bar will get a socket on the last bolt once the others are removed and some flexing of the trim is applied. Complete waste of time though as I now know that my koni top adjustables are only top adjustable at the front.
