Like them wheels a lot, are the OZ Chrono Evos? I seen them on a Corrado on the vortex forum recently and thought if i were to buy bigger wheels it would have to be something like them.

Anyone heard of this company, ever since my car was put in the Autotrader they keep phoning me saying they have potential buyers for my car and if I pay them £80 they will put my car on there database until the car is sold. Sounds a bit sus to me as id imagine people are more likely to look at the autotrader themselves than just go through this company.

The later vr6's definately sit a bit higher, I think the top mounts are different but all parts are interchangeable?
-
Ill be up for that once the vr6 is on the road. 8)

Cheers Pau1, just got to sell the 16v so I can get it on the road now, had it insured for 3 days and done 500 miles and now its going to be torture  Anyone know what this is? It was wired up in the boot, at first I thought it was an aerial booster but I still get reception with the wires out.

Dont know for sure, but I thought the 2.9 used different plugs from the 2.8.
-
No idea, I think if its not factory fitted then the installers vary the location so it could be anywhere.
-
Not too good, im half tempted to drop the price right down for a quick sale but I know its in pretty good condition and worth a bit. No rush though as if I sell it now then I may be carless till September when I can get the vr6 insured.
-
The standard one will be ok, it might need replacing more frequently though.

ive got a twin dtm scorpion backbox for a 16v I need to get rid of, I dont want anything for it, its just taking up space just now and would probably end up in the bin. Its blowing a bit at one of the joins but looks like it could be easily welded. I will be in aberdeen soon picking up my new vr6 so its yours if you want it.

Strip it out, sell the recaros, add a bucket seat and use it as a track car

Ok, on Friday I put an injector cleaner in my car and adjusted my ecotek properly. The next day I gave the car a good thrash to Aberdeen, thrashed it even more trying to keep up with vr6storm, then belted it back home, about 330 miles total for the day. Tonight I drove home the short journey from work where I usually get about 16-17 mpg (its a very short journey where the car barely gets up to temp). Tonights fuel consumption was exactly 20mpg. Ive never had it that good on this journey and the car definately feels smoother. Something above improved the consumption and I tend to think that it was the Ecotek doing exactly as it says.

shush Jim, you might make paul change his mind

And I have to say im very happy with my new vr6 :D . Big thanks to Roddy for letting me know about it being for sale before it was advertised and it was good to see a few Corrados in one place today (6 in total over the day I think). Also good to put a few faces to the names now.
-
Sounds easy enough, take ducting off top of airbox, lift the plate thing all the way, then get a friend to plug in a bridged fuel pump relay for the time. Im pretty sure the injectors are ok as there new but ill give this a go. Cheers

vr6storm, Favour is no prob tommorow, paul said you would either be with him or meet us after you finish depending when I get there. kevhaywire, I got the pump from £85 + VAT from ECP, I would rather test the old pump first though, is there an easy way to do it something along the lines of how fast should it fill a 2 litre bottle?
-
Its the main pump thats buzzing, ive heard that it can be caused by the lift pump in the tank failing. Ive suspected the pump for a while and have got a new one waiting to go in, the car doesnt really like moving away under 2000 rpm and jumps a bit and I dont know if im paranoid about it or not but it doesnt seem to rev the way id expect it to. Im allowing about 3 hours journey time tommorow and am leaving here about 10. Ive to give paul a phone when im at Stonehaven and hes meeting me on the road in to Aberdeen I think. Should be around 1 ish.
-
Kev, when your pump was on the way out was it making a buzzing noise or are they supposed to do that. What other symptoms were there?

There is only one induction kit I know of and its made by stroeve I think. Its expensive and not really worth it as the metering head is built into the top half of the airbox. This means even if you do get a cone filter under it there wont be much space and you wont really see it that well. If you like induction noise get a panel filter and follow the instructions on the web page above, cheap, easy and effective.
-
Im at the other side of Glasgow in Clydebank. If its your oil temp that gets to 108 then that sounds ok, mine gets to that in traffic. What kind of rear box do you have, if the noise gets to you then I advise staying away from cutting holes in your airbox.
-
The 1.8 16v likes to be revved so at 60 if u want to get a shift on u should really go for 3rd. Modding the airbox doesnt make much difference but does give a nice induction roar, theres a guide at the scottish region site that will show u how. http://www.kf010a4571.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/ Where in central scotland are you? maybe I could let you hear the noise mine makes if I dont sell it soon.

I enquired the yahoo group about this conversion ages ago, heres some of the things that were brought up. With the gearbox, driveshafts, hubs and so on being changed the wheels are converted to 5 stud. With this in mind you would probably want the rear to match so the back of the car needs work as well and new wheels will need budgeting for. The vr6 uses a different front suspension setup and different wishbones from the 16v, possibly subframe as well. Would all this need changed also? If so then are they the same as the Golf donor car? Probably not which means sourcing even more parts. The impression I got was that in no way was it worth the hassle and to me it sounds like the guy offering the engine doesnt know what hes getting into. Do you really want your car in bits before he realises that it wont fit without these parts and a new bonnet. By the end of it, it would probably end up costing you a lot more than the estimated price.
