  1. A cooling pipe for the power steering fluid? are you not getting a little confused there?
  2. I am sure they would be extremely intereted when they see what you are doing to it! p.s. it looks clean in that photo - dont tell me you have washed it?!
  3. so whats actually happened to your 24v motor then?
  4. keep the rado man you big homma!
  5. get some anti rattle tape, jay lined his car with it and its like brand new p.s. Chris, what the feck are you slavering on about?!
  6. just think how much money you would lose after a couple of years if you bought a nearly new car, its my entire justification for modding!
  7. no  should make it interesting. I was planning to see whats its like and then make the decision on whether to fit an ATB diff, or the rear diff ;) I keep changing my mind every couple of days, so all I am going to say for certain is that it will be going on the road without 4wd or any fancy diff, and I will take it from there. I currently have plans for some canny power via charger, or possibly turbo, so at present I am thinking 2wd then straight to 4wd. This is all subject to change though - as you well know lol
  8. Its make slow but steady progress mate, thanks for asking! I have been mostly doing crap nitshit wiring and stuff so nothing to post about really. I am currently wiring up my climatronic unit up. I have decided to put the car on the road in 2wd first and see what its like. If it needs more grip I have the 4wd axle ready to go on, and I have installed the mk4 abs esp unit with the 4wd control just like Mr Renshaw, so it will have facility to be controlled when it does eventually get fitted.
  9. doing them sort of speeds only has me frantically recalling in my head whether I had tightened all those bolts properly :D
  10. just seems a lot though doesnt it. Harras motor can potential be taken out 400cc approx, 4 litres from an r32 is double that expansion!!! would be great though :D
  11. One thing to note also, I have severe traction problems in anything but bone dry weather. Turning the traction control of just has the front wheels spinning constantly. The problem is that the diesel engine goes from about what feels like 15ft/lbs to 180ft/lbs of torque in about 100rpm. definately a candidate for 4motion. I would prefer a v6 4motion bora myself.
  12. feck me the track is really wide on those things isnt it looks a good couple of inches wider than a standard seven - could be an illusion though?
  13. I own the above car, and apart from stupid rolly suspension (despite being a sport model) its a cracking car. I do hate diesels though.
  14. I am sceptical about the 4 litre claim mind. Horra and Chris 'the fainting goat' mentioned it the last time they called round. The block is not that different to the vr, so I cant understand where the extra capacity is coming from. and I scoured the net for evidence of said R40 and found nowt.
  15. umm I dont think it is to be honest its a proper twin cylinder head V. correct me if I am wrong
  16. All I did was get some threaded bar, 3 nuts and 2 8mm thick plates of steel, stick a nut on one end, then the plate, then nip it tight with a second nut. then poke the threaded bar through the hub and bearing slip the second plate on the other side of the hub, and the last nut goes on behind it. Then all you do is wind the nut in and it presses the bearing into the hub. Life is a lot easier if you stick the bearing in the freezer over night though.
  17. disagree. I have changed loads of front bearings from my garage. Making a bearing press is the easiest thing in the world to do.
  18. all the VW mags are are utter w*nk, they have been for years. They tell you absolutely nothing worth reading about any of the cars, how they drive etc etc. All they do is point out shiny bits, go 'ooo look at his wheels' and then spout a bit shyte about the owner. Every article is the same, its niether informative nor interesting. The past few times I have bought one of these mags I have just looked at the pictures and then chucked it in the cupboard. I buy Practical Performance Car now, much more interesting and technical, they actually build stuff in there and get proper opininions on how stuff goes/handles/behaves on the road and the track, and its written with a bit of a humour in it. Ten times the mag of PVW and golf+
  19. I am fitting a concept 500 to my car myself, so it is possible.
  20. 3500bhp dragsters dont have to pootle through traffic at just above idle speeds.....although it would be excellent to watch! back pressure is certainly needed on a road car, how much is debateable. All you are going to do shift your torque curve up the rev range. What you really need is someting akin to an exup valve which yamaha have been using for years. This is just a valve that provides a restriction in the exhaust flow enabling the ecu to modify the back pressure at various engine speeds. Take about having your cake and eating it....wtf does that phrase mean?!
  21. can you not just smear engine oil on it? after all thats what happens all teh other times it has to spin round
