  1. cant remember if this is true or not (Darren, feel free to shoot this down ;)) but the C is wider at the back than the front therefore to maintain handling balance the rears should be the same amount wider at the rears....e.g. 15mm+
  2. there is a shedful of info here http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_post ... 52550&PN=1 it boils my brain reading some of it tho

    Dilemma...

yeah there is no way I would risk doing that especially when I will have house deeds, mortgage and house insurance all in my name at our house! I spent yesterday looking around at cars, I mean at working , to be honest there isn't much that grabs me like my C. 200sx was an option but meh, they just seem so generic (although I would love have RWD and Turbo) I think I have settled on keeping the car for this year and getting the most out of it at track days - that way I have plenty of good memories of how good the car is!
  4. Hi My girlfriend and I are buying a house in a few weeks, which means my postcode will change from a B bracket to atleast a D/E. Therefore my insurance has gone up by 300 quid  I love my car but paying nearly a grand to insure the car has left me wondering whether it is worth it. Its left me thinking that I could buy a newer, faster car in the same insurance group for not much more than I could trade in my C for. Or, on the other hand, I could take the hit and try and mod my C to go faster e.g. 24v, V5T, 16vG60 etc....(too many thoughts!) Ideally, I would like a car which is going to be relatively niggle free, pref RWD without a huge insurance premium. I am 23 with max NCB (protected), IT professional and will be living in Manchester. What cars do people recommend? any links and pictures would be appreciated! Thanks for reading, didn't need this when I am broke to buy this house! Andrew
  5. quality - great pics! are they raced? are they meant to look like rados or are they "influenced"?
  6. would be interested in this to, I have got an KR cam to put in mine just not got the time to bother my mate to do it for me!

  9. isnt someone breaking a red C at the moment...??
  10. sorry dude, not much can be done now but to live with it and fix it in your own time.
  11. Dinkus, this happened to me over Xmas, a real pain! mine is bodged together with wire at the moment - but need to sort out some replacements bits and pieces. Trying to buy a house at the moment so can't give it my full attention! Let me know how you get on, cheers Andrew

    Replacement

nice one MPH i'm sure it'll be a beaut!
  14. gauges must be so difficult to read down there think the best way is to remove the ash tray and fabricate a mount from there which could contain to 52mm gauges jutting out from the dash, atleast then they are more visible. someone had a picture on here the other day, can't find it now :(

    Replacement

kevHaywire, the Tiv was a good example BUT they did say there were some dogs out there which would clearly effect the outcome. Guy in work has one, the noise on startup is immense! then the overrun.....dream! MPH, how is the decision making going?
  16. i'd do a search mate, lots of threads about this. What engine are you running? if your not planning on doing any mods then personally I think 150 quid is too much. You can get generic parts for about 40 which would do the job... If you are planning on moddin the engine for more power then if they do need doing spending the extra cash now makes sense. If you do want to spend more though, John@JMR (16vG60 on the forum) offers some excellent quality ones for 70-75 posted. I prob would have got one, but funds weren't present so I went for the cheapers option which seem to be OK for me (2l valver). Cheers Andrew
  17. gibber, is it a late style on mate?

    New Rugs!

stanbates, all your little additions are going to be double the cost of the engine  but would look cool!
  19. 24v nearly here then stan? I think jbs-autos in chesterfield include the clocks in their 1.8T engine conversions. Must be possible... here is a picture: http://www.jbsautodesigns.co.uk/images/ ... bo-032.jpg

  21. thats what I would be looking at... its all pie in the sky at the moment, I am buying a house first then will be in a position to save some pennies for the car either new or give the old girl an overhaul! (may do something to the rado aswell  ;))
