oooh yes i've been twiddling my knobs.....well just by 3/4 turn at the front and roughly the same at the rear(pain to do as needed to have some long nose pliers......rather than leaving the shelf supports off) at moment.........but if my drive up to and back from spey-bey last week was anything to go by.......it fairly tightened up the front not so sure about the back tbh...............but well impressed definately the best mod i've done to mine..........go on kev mate you know they make sense

as scott rightly says storms especially low-mile ones go for silly money, however for your £7k you should be able to pick up a decent spec,late-letter probably leathered up VR6......though if you look thru the "cars for sale" section i'm sure you'll spot rory's vr6 which i understand is within your budget and near your mileage limit.......though doesn't have the leather the only main differences between a storm and a "standard" VR6 really are the storms had leather as standard(beige with the classic green paint and black with the mystic blue paint)BBS solitude alloys(also used on Golf colour concepts and VR6 highline golf's)a standard fit Sony CD-tuner,colour-coded grille and of course the storm badging  now it is possible to actually buy a higher-spec corrado than a storm and of course apart from the mega-rare campaign  8) as andi or Pau1 will no doubt post at some point  as both their VR6's have electric recaro interior in grey leather 8) and andi also has A/C and headlight washers

here you go here's some pics of my cream leathered storm

well not quite i think stevemac's been rumbled here   LOL http://corrado.atx-hosting.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=2391

well kev, brian seems to have this idea that his FK coilovers are "bespoke" so i'm just pointing out that they are not quite......... and yes mate i do realise that you can actually get Koni to do you "custom" dampers and have springs wound to your "spec"........but i imagine this would be a bit dearer than the "off-the shelf" prices of the kits
-
AFAIK it was an optional extra on 16v's well early ones at least and was standard on G-60's(not 100% sure of this tho),VR6's and possibly later 16v's
-
I really REALLY don't think so for some reason. whatever brian  as always you know best/better   maybe my source doesn't know what he's on about......but i REALLY think he knows better than you or I........i can just picture the scene now the FK R&D boss thinks....."i know Vee Vill make our own coil-over kit, first vee vill use KONI dampers and then vee vill ask BMW(or a division of) to make springs especially for our relatively low volume applications....that they haven't used in their own cars"......somehow brian i don't think so

103 weeks     .............and no danger of it getting replaced

No, not necisarily tailored for that car, but the cars weight. BMW probably build the springs to different spring rates, then FK find the weight of the car and work out what kind of spring rate it requires. ie. if two cars have the same front end weight then they'd more than likely use the same springs, but the kit would be different because of different fixings, which is FK's job of fitting them to the correct strut. It'll just be a engineering sub contract for [a division of] BMW. (ie not springs actually stolen off models of their cars!!! LOL) You lean something new every day :D without starting WW3 here brian,.....they are more than likely to be the same springs that are used in previous or current BMW models...........or maybe a contract for FK done by BMW(i'm assuming thats what you mean) but i guess more than likely the former as for tailored for the cars weight well the BMW's that are near to the Corrado weight wise are still heavier than the VR6 C which in turn is heavier than the G-60 C so it still isn't that much tailored is it? at the end of the day you are happy with your FK's and i'm happy with my Koni's but ...............after finding out how the FK's use BMW springs IMO they are not as special as what you seem to think they are......i'm not saying that the Koni's are the be all and end all either but what i am saying is don't believe the claims that FK make afterall they use koni for the dampers and BMW for the springs so its only the fixings that appear to be "made" by FK

hi and welcome to the forum right interior wise the Corrado came with a few different trim colours, though normally light-grey with darker grey "checks" and black/dk grey with green "checks" and some of course with cloth recaro interior grey with red diagonal stripes i think the 1.8 16v did have abs as an option not 100% there tho..........tbh....by that age its probably going to be more trouble than its worth due to the high costs of it as for faults then there is a few common to all corrado's not just 1.8 16v's........have a look thru the archives and i'm sure you'll find out more or what you need to look for now insurance............much as it is easier and cheaper to be on your dad's insurance this is really a false economy as A)insurance companies are wise to this and if your dad is not the main driver and you are they can void any claim you make.........believe me they will find out B)you are doing yourself no favours........if you are a named driver you do not build up any no claims yourself you only build up NCD if you are a policyholder..........and very few ins co's will give your dad full discount on more than one car......i assume your dad has his own motor
-
fingers-crossed mate............going by the condition yer old Corrado was in i'm sure it should sell quick enough...........then well go on my son, Corrado or Gti you can't really go wrong

Where/how to get hold of old service records?
vr6storm replied to CazzaVR's topic in Suppliers Forum
phone VW's customer care and see if they can do anything or try the VW-dealer again and ask to speak to the service manager and see if they can get some copy invoices(minus the customer's name but showing reg no or chassis number).........they might be ok with it if you contact the previous owner and see if he/she will be able to get copies themselves i managed to get copy invoices from the servicing dealer of my storm which was sloanes of edinburgh so it is possible -
yes but the "test" G-60 was in fact their own long-termer which not long after them taking figures needed a new G/box(2nd gear problems)about 2k miles later so the bulk of their times are slower than the 16v here goes tho.......10/10/90 power..............160bhp torque..............165lb/ft top speed.........137mph 0-60................8.9 secs 30-70mph........8.8 secs.....thru the gears 30-50mph........7.7 secs.....in 4th 50-70mph........9.6 secs...in 5th 1/4 mile time...16.8 secs....no speed given overall mpg.....22mpg....recorded on test touring mpg.....30.3mpg....(50%urban/25% 56mph/25% 75mph)
-
 i thought mine was good at 77.5k bought with 66k How many miles when you bought it? bought it on August 14th 2001 with 38k miles on it
-
thats right dazzyvr6,the koni coilover kit part number is for all the performance Mk3 GTi's and VR6 as well as the Corrado VR6
-
60200 exactly :D ........looked at it when i parked up...........hit the 60k on sunday too  didn't realise ive put on 200 miles since then
-
right Autocar tested the 1.8 16v Corrado 31/05/89 these are the figures they obtained power..............136bhp torque..............119lb/ft top speed.........131mph 0-60................8.7 secs 30-70mph........8.3 secs.....thru the gears 30-50mph........9.0 secs.....in 4th 50-70mph........12.1 secs...in 5th 1/4 mile time...16.5 secs....no speed given overall mpg.....29.5mpg....recorded on test touring mpg.....34.6mpg....(50%urban/25% 56mph/25% 75mph) as for the total closure i think the sunroof was part of "total closure" at a later date so think your Corrado is ok
-
have you looked at the Caravelle/Transporter rear wiper at all............as the caravelle has an off-centre wiper if i remember rightly and some versions of the transporter have one on each rear load door
-
NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!......whatever you do....DO NOT MIX G12 with G11.........unless it is G12+ yes Ram's G12 was maybe a better grade coolant than the G11 but the G12 was specifically "made" for the newer generation engines.....whereas G11 was "designed" for the older generation VR's and others.........and as i'm led to believe it isnt as good an idea to change from G11 to G12 as what used to be recommended........this is probably why they have started doing G12+ which can be mixed with both G11 and G12
-
tbh.....ain't got the foggiest.............but new VW's are the same too.....well they constantly read the mileometer
-
should still read mileage and time when the key is removed.....well mine does
-
AFAIK the standard colour for the calipers was silver
-
£2.5k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............sounds too cheap...........then again you never know........but DO get it checked over
-
yip actually bought a copy of it cos i flicked thru and seen a certain black C that i liked
-
well to be honest in the service book its only every 40k miles that the spark plugs get changed......obviously these are the platinum tipped ones........so unless its a 40k service or you mention to change the plugs they are i'm afraid in the clear
