  1. Well its better than it was now i have fixed a wire to the lambda sensor. It still feels a bit crap lower in the rev band. The car does not feel slow as when i am giving it some beans it flys. However, compared to the 1.9 Kjet 8v i got, its er well, a bit crap. It lacks snap. Just wondered if i am being a bit unfair, comparing the two engines, could be just that digifant is a bit pants. Or is there something still amiss with my G60?
  2. Simple really, how heavy is a C in each engine size?
  3. It does seem that the valvers are not that popular. I admit i was in the same position when i was looking for a C. From a Golf background i wanted a G60 for the power potential and wanting a significant upgrade from a succession of 8v Golfs. In reality there are still people out there who will sell you a good C for cheapo money. My new grey C, not in perfect condition, but good nethertheless, cost 2k, that included Stage 4 charger, milltek exhaust, decat, Koni adjustables and for me the biggest winner, leather interior. Nothing wrong with 16v's, just the heavier body shell of the C compared with the Golf needs more power. even now my 200 bhp spec C does not have the throttle response of my 1.9 8v.
  4. Well you know me, but I don't live in Evesham.
  5. I inherited my Milltek system on my new Corrado, i am impressed with the way it sounds and looks (even if i think the tailpipe looks slightly too long). The only thing i will say is that it sounds a bit farty at the rear when cold but that soon goes when it warms up.
  6. Swap the blue squares for black, put a motorway maintanance sticker on it and you would have everyone passing it at 70 mph like those bloody Range Rovers that are about at the moment.
  7. Well the chip was in the Corrado when i got it. The chap i bought it from said the chip used to reside in a Rallye so don't know what injectors it had. For the time being i am staying with the G Force chip. Though it does need one hell of a setting up and prob an SNS chip that is matched to the spec that I have. At the moment the car just seems a bit lacking in go. (Had the same feeling with the last Corrado too.) I suspect that a sensor might be down somewhere as car just does not feel like it has the power it should. Sometimes it feels like there are slight surges of power, as if the car is holding back. Might be visiting you boys very soon.
  8. My Koni setup is pretty old and the car sits quite high. When i get the chance i will be swapping over the Eibach springs from the other car. I may see if i can get some lowering cups for the front to bring the front down slightly to match the back.
  9. Hmm does seem like i have an SNS chip thats not suited to the car.
  10. I was once in route GSF in my Golf when the engine suddenly became really lumpy. I assumed that it was an electronic ignition problem so bought new sparks, plugs rotor cap etc. Turns out that my head gasket had gone, but GSF did very well out of it. So the Morale of the story is don't drive to GSF, It might cost more than you originally intended. (Only joking Steve ;))
  11. Hmm, i wonder if it is not taking into account enough the low revs boost (or relative lack of) and the fueling only comes into play at higher revs. Its like driving a 16v. It is quick though.
  12. Right well this is an odd one as I know in theory the answer is SNS. However, I am taking about two chips that i have got. Basically the SNS chip gives the power, but high up the rev range. G force seems a bit smoother through the revs but not so 'balls out' higher up. The story of the SNS is that it was originally on a Rallye Golf, then swapped to my blue Corrado that was then written off. The G force chip came with the new car. Are there differences between the SNS chips for Golfs and Corrados?
  13. That can't be good for your power steering rack.
  14. It steers in and out of corners ok. It just has less feel, when I am parking etc its very easy to turn the wheel (unlike my Mk2 Golf Gti that has very heavy power steering for a Golf) and am sure its to do with the pulley size amongst other things. Think i need to get under both my C's tomorrow with the tape measure.
  15. Are the Mk3 gearboxes all cable change or were some of them rod change as well?
  16. You have probably pulled the connector out of the back, remove the panel and check.
  17. My new G60 has very light steering (even when i put my 17" alloys on). I am guessing that at some point the pump has been changed and perhaps a smaller pulley put on. Having not checked this yet its speculation. Does anyone else agree that this is prob the case or could there be other reasons for it? Cheers Rob
  18. The thing is that you can get engine blocks very cheap. I would buy it if everything else has been looked after and replaced. Its about the receipts IMO. Get a spare block and get it rebuilt to 1.9 spec. Think thats what i will do with my spare engine.

    Losing power

Not totally sure but your lambda probe could be on the blink. Lack of Cat won't be an issue i shouldn't have thought.

    Interior Fan

Yeah 99% its that resistor pack that sits on the fan housing (well it does on golfs) Someone told me they are about £45 on Corrados so twice as much as the Golf 3 speed version
  21. Yeah, its the other side to that, ie on the top. I think it might be a weak return spring that has been compounded by disrupting the setup. It is possible that i have broken part of the plastic that sits under the arm. I think the best bet will be to get an undisturbed throttle body and put that on. Although porting? Where is the metal removed from in this process as it looks quite smooth already.
  22. Picked up the new motor yesterday. Having found that the throttle cable was been held on by a tie clip i went about swapping the very top arm by undoing the 13mm nut. Worked until i overtightened the nut and snapped the stud. So had to change the whole throttle body off the other car. This i did and got it fired up. Problem: The car was over revving at idle so after a bit of investigation i found that the top arm was not clicking against the electric sensor at the back of the throttle body. It seems that i may have damaged the spring loaded mechanism so that it has become a bit stiff. Anyone else had a similar problem, or is it just a case of getting another throttle body?
  23. Well part of it says 2nd hand charger @ £1000 plus VAt, sounds like the chap was done but basically the engine has had a minor rebuild for that money too and of course the piper cam aint cheap.
  24. Right well picked it up today. My obvious initial concern was the lack of power. My brothers Mk2 2.0l 8v was whipping my arse on the way back. Got it back and found the problem, i was right in my earlier assessment in that i was not getting full throttle. The plastic clip on the the throttle body had been broken at some point and basically the cable was connected by a bodge basically consisting of a tie clip. Well have swapped the whole throttle body off the other car (i was just going to swap the arm, but broke the stud off so had to do the whole thing.) Anyway, now its running at more like its potential, though i do have a fluctuating revs issue which i now need to look at. I am chuffed as this is the full spec: Gforce pulley and Chip Piper cam and rebuilt head Militec Stainless system Cat bypass Panel filter Koni adjustables (bonus, had not spotted these on the viewing) My plan is to swap over the Jabba stage 4 charger, sns chip and fit an RSR outlet when it arrives from Germany. I will also put on the 5 spokes and swap over the Eibach springs at some stage. I am also buying some BBS RC's too. Long term I will prob look at a respray as there are a few stone chips. But for £2k i have done ok i think.
  25. I just assumed you had ginger hair....eh? eh? You see what I did there? eh? Ginger sack eh? Only thing worse is a ginger minge
