  1. Looks pretty mental, what kind of mods have you done to warrant that amount of work for cooling?

    G60 problem

Pull the pipe off and check the length is correct, if its not it will be confusing the ECU.
  3. I had this problem not to long ago, my problem was related to the charger being worn. I swapped mine for another stage 4 that i had got in stock and hey presto, was getting 2000 reading and a much quicker car. Would poss get your charger checked out? How does the car drive? Bet its a bit sluggish.
  4. Def would go a bit lower at the back, doubt you will get over any speed bumps if you go lower at the front.
  5. Sounds like you might have a bare wire thats shorting on the body or something when your on the move, if the wires are loose then tie clip them up
  6. Sounds like another Group buy coming on Tempest ;)
  7. Got any before and after dynoplots for the FMIC. Also will it also fit onto an RSR outlet?

It is worth swapping the coolent temp sensors. also check that the sensors across the fuel rail are connected. Check the condition of the lambda sensor wires (located behind engine on the cambelt side). Other checks here for sns page

Does look nice. Can't see your coolent level from here but would say that your washer fluid is about half full ;) 70 is very unreasonable, that probably equates to about 15 mpg. Then again though have you been booting it everywhere?

114 is normal for a G60 on standard factory oil cooler (poxy unit that sits on the front of the block with the oil filter below it) Water temp guage is likely to be the black sender thats dead (front water pipe that exits the head) or the clock unit itself. As for fuel consumption, if you drive a G60 like a saint you may get 30 mpg on a run, extra urban driving i reckon you are going to be lucky to get 25. I put in £20 in the other day will prob get 120 miles for that, some of that was on a knackered charger which won't have helped mind, and the rest was test running the new charger. Also what chip is it, have heard the Jabba chips can overfuel.
  11. Does look messy, but then its the go and not the show!! ;)
  12. If its of any help the VW spec stats are apparently rated at 94 degrees C. Well thats what my technical article says anyway so would guess its correct. It is possible that the guage itself is reading a little high. The coolent light coming on, I get that, I reckon its just a surge when you are nailing it. Mine came on, i panicked, stopped, checked the level which was fine, and continued on my way after i restarted and the light had now gone off.
  13. You might like to re-word the question - not sure what you mean. Lol yeah, spastic English!! What i meant was is it likely that advanced timing is related to ECU management, ie, from information coming from senders such as water temp, Lambda probe and boost pipe probe (perhaps indicating a faulty sensor). Or can it be retarded on the dizzy as Supercharged suggested. Anyhow, first port of call is going to be get my Jabba stage 4 charger on there when the RSR kit arrives hopfully this week. Then, as everyone has been suggesting, get it set up by a specialist.
  14. Having used the instructions on the SNS website i carried out the MFA diagnostic test on my car. Firstly at idle it was between 470 and 510, indicating too much timing advance apparently. Secondly i got a max of 1600 which is not good for a 68mm pulleyed charger. SNS suggests that its either a large boost leak or needs new apex strips. Seeing that the idle figure is not higher would suggest my charger is knackered. Lucky i got the charger off the other car to go on. I would guess that the sooner i can swap it over the better. One question though, can i bring the reduce the timing myself or is it related to the ECU?
  15. Hmm was driving the black Mk2 today in south wales and really wish i had taken the rado, although i did need some fuel consumption that was vaguely reasonable, and when i did a 300 mile journey at 90 mph + it made sense to use the Golf. Still if its nice tomorrow then the rado is coming out.
  16. Just for those who are thinking about it, Jabbasport now do a front mounted intercooler. Kind of steep at £660 for the full kit though.
  17. Sure its not the clutch release bearing? Pretty sure its not this mind as you generally can't hear it on the move
  18. By the way, have had the Mk2 4 years, had 3 engines and never once have i had it setup, it just runs!! Guess the difference between Digi 1 and 2.
  19. Ok looks like i won't be able to do it accuratly then. Are the any methods of setting up roughly, ie by feel rather than using a gas analyser?
  20. It can't be hard to set up a G60, whats involved? If i can't do it myself i will be waiting to get the charger swapped before i get it sorted.
  21. Ok, this a strange comparison test. I am not convinced the pick up on the G60 is right. So comparing it to My Mk2 Golf 8v (which i have just done 500 miles in) basically the pick up on it is far better than the G60 (I think the Mk2 is chipped, the G60 has an SNS chip). Now fundementally Digi 2 is a lot simpler as it does not have the idle switch or lambda probe. However can people who have access to both let me know what both feel like in comparison to each other.
  22. Not my cup of tea either, waiting for my In Pro's to arrive from Tempest, those are going to look mint on my Grey C
  23. No but I can supply some very tidy 2nd hand ones for a Corrado front end if you need.
  24. Yeah i believe G man sells them, when i phoned a while ago he had no stock, hence why i bought from Germany believing they had stock. Oh well.
  25. If you are going for classic insurance try Footman James. They do my Golf Gti (C reg) for £206 for the year, that includes my GF and a couple of declared mods. Thats for 4500 miles. Just don't tell them about any track day plans. Even better, agreed a value of £1500 from 2 photos and its a shed, lol. I think their criteria needs the car to be 15 years old plus. So some early C's should comply.
