  1. Take your head unit out, pop the top off, blow all the dust and cr*p out, clean the lens with a dry cotton bud, re-lube the lens head guide rails and - hey presto - reads cd-r's better and less skipping! Well, worked with my sis's that I sorted out... ;)
  2. No such thing as letting the side down...! You don't drive a Corsa, so whatever happens, you're all good...! I too am feeling frustrations, but everytime I look at her, I know it's worth it, even if she is a Passat!
  3. True... My sincerest apologies...
  4. Now we just need the girls...
  5. I did think that, but though that would just make it pull to the side...? (which it is doing anyway, god I love this car...) Gonna get it booked in for a full laser alignment thingy doodah soon anyway, just wanted to see if there was anything untoward that might need looking at before then...
  6. Alternatively, you're more than welcome to give me stuff at any of the SE meetings and I can pass it on to the blasters/coaters and then pick it up once it's done as both of them are within 5mins of my work... That's what the SE meets are really all about... ;)
  7. Good point, well made... Although you can always ask to see prior examples of their work, which is what I did!
  8. Got a bit of vibration through the steering wheel at about 60-70MPH, though if you're driving at about 20 you can see the wheel moving side to side ever so slightly - just had the front wheels re-balanced, so it's not that, and I've spun the wheels on the car and they're not flat-spotted or buckled... Any ideas?
  9. Graham, take a look in your Yellow Pages - there's probably some more local to you tbh - probably hidden round the back of some teeny industrial estate that you never even knew existed; those two are!
  10. You may as well have been speaking Flemish there Rossco - I'm a skater, not a bmxer! Caught out... Just bought it out of the freeads a couple of years ago to hammer across town to work on, but then I moved so I decided to strip it down and get it sprayed and rebuilt with decent components... However, the usual lack-of-funds monster reared its ugly head and now all the bits are sitting in my garage... Back on-topic: randal, did you manage to get in touch with the numbers I gave you?
  11. It should be the 20 Amp one...
  12. Yeah, I'm definitely interested, pending costings of course!
  13. Have a look at flusted's sig, and maybe PM him, as he's gotten a pretty damn good power output on his 1.8 valver...
  14. Actually, I do have a thin hose that runs between the junction on the block where the top rad hose goes to and the top of the header tank - anyone know if you can pop this off at the header and fill from there to avoid airlocks?
  15. Fantastic, have had that opinion on msn from a couple of others too, so Sat will be a full drain, flush, new auxilliary belts (just to make sure), and refill with G12+ (I've learned my lesson) from the top hose. Though on mine, the top rad hose goes to the engine block almost horizontally, so I don't know how I'd go about filling up from there? Any suggestions?
  16. Furki's running 7.5 front and 9 rear on 16" and they look the business... Not sure of the offsets though, maybe send him a PM?
  17. So clean it should be illegal...! Lovely, just lovely... I'd love to get mine that immaculate, but then I'd never drive it!
  18. TBH, no, I'm not anymore! Though it seems pretty random, not to mention an amazing coincidence, that it would fail at the exact same time that I do a coolant change and replace the stat...! Anyone know the best way to check if the water pump's working?
  19. Yeah - I did fill the system from the expansion tank not the top hose, but it was filled very slowly and the hoses were squeezed as I did so to try and prevent an airlock, but I suppose anything's possible... I have the afternoon off tomorrow so am going to be getting covered in coolant again! All suggestions welcome as I'll try anything! It just confuses me that the coolant isn't getting into the rad hence the lack of cooling at high speed, yet the fan thermoswitch is switching the fan on...
  20. Yeah, I reckon that's kev's most embarassing moment in his C...!
  21. Yeah, the fan kicks in during normal town driving, which is both reassuring and worrying at the same time! I fully flushed the system out before refilling so I'm fairly sure there isn't a blockage, but you never know... Yeah, it is a pain 'cause I now don't really want to drive more than ten miles at a time which doesn't leave me many options!
  22. Yeah, I did think of that, but I'd rather get back to where I was with the temps, and then work from there as there's obviously something wrong... Anyone else got any ideas?!
  23. Elgamec are really good, just speak to them and I'm sure they'll know what type of blasting to do dependent on the material... Rossco, it was a Dirty One-Thirty frame and forks - had the frame done military grey and the forks black... Don't have any money to build it up into a nice bike anymore though!
  24. Hell, if it don't scrape, it ain't low enough! Coming from the guy with the genuine old-man car! Surprised that Jim's taken more flak for the Golf than I have for the 'Rat - which like corradowales' motor has to be pushed uphill! Nice Golf though, hope you enjoy it - am really wanting a VR engine for mine after having had Andi completely and utterly waste me on the M3 tonight...!
