Renshaw project (probably going to sell / swap)
Craig replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Members Gallery
Great work, always love a good detailed build thread with pics as it's such a great learning process for people like me who aren't mechanics but when you've got thread like this it just provides enthusiasm to get working and give it a go, just wish I had a garage first :) sure the car will be transformed, and wish I could just 'whip' the engine out lol -
Loved the wheels but the impracticalities of it all has made me purchase some more sensible wheels, at least untill i get my rear arches rolled then ill be buying them back ;) anyway bought some cheap oz ultraleggeras, sanded them down and sprayed them matt black, then put some rubber on. They're 7x16 so no issues with scrubbing at all. not the low wide look of before but more of a stealth/racing look. they'll do for the time being. Also had the car serviced and opted for some 15w/50 oil. nice and smooth now gave the battery a charge. think it needs upgrading soon to a 63a one.

Thanks for all the offer guys, much appreciated. Settled on something completely different and bought a set of oz ultraleggeras for a few £. tyres only have a few miles in them but they should do untill I can save for some other wheels :) thanks again folks

Hi mate, just wanernig of you got my pm the other day about the speedlines. not sur it sent as i was using my phone?
if not, in brief i would prefer some speedlines but can only stretch to £180 if i picked them up, only just been paid and already spent a fortune!
Thanks
-
Try the classifieds mate, i know theres a very lovely vr6 turbo in there iirc for about 6.5-7k running about 360bhp? depends what your looking to spend! i know that would be my first choice if i had the cash!
-
Anyone have any speedlines that would be in budget?
-
Ideally I'd prefer speedlines, thanks for the offer hombre paulo but can't stretch to 250 although being round the corner is ideal! Neal and kad, any chance of mailing a pic, I'd probably look to sand the wheels down and maybe a quick spray but that's the extent of my skill. I wouldn't fancy a full refurb to badly curbed wheels? In an ideal world I'd want £800 for the mls but I'd have to be realistic and look to accept offers probably around 700??

Hi everyone, Looking to be sensible and eventually sell the 9x16 modernlines i have. As much as i love the look i cant justify running such a camber and replacing tyres every 6 months so i need some cheap vr wheels in the mean time to put on the car while i look into selling them. Anything considered providing they have decent tread left and are a direct fit, preferably speedlines or solitudes? im located in bournemouth and dont mind travelling a bit, ie an hour or two and by cheap i mean a max of £150/£200. Thank you :)

New engine, possibly 2.8 vr6 and a charger. if there was any left arches rolled and pulled :)
-
Looking good so far, I've been thinking about ditching my Schmidt mms 9x16 in favour for some White Motorsport style rimS? I do love the low wide look tho. Just not the tyre scrub ;) looking forward to seeing the new wheels

Haven't you got a schrick on there as well mate? thought you had when we went up to the scirocco meet?
-
Thanks, the speakers weren't anything top of the range but gives a bit more bass. i always drive with a window open and dont listen to a lot of music in the car so suits me fine :)

It's all down to risk, if you drive a van for a living, ie deliver parts etc then it's a higher risk that one day your van might break down and you use your car etc, silly I know but insurance is all about the risk and companies can afford to pick and choose these days who they want as a customer! look in the insurance contacts thread, I posted in thereast week as my renewal is due Friday

Decided to be adventurous and instead of getting the roof painted with the rear bumper I opted to go for a wrap look. I initially wanted gloss black but it would suffer from swirls quite easily so i went for a durable carbon wrap. I was dubious about it looking chav but it's come out well, the finish is top notch too! The pictures don't do it justice to be honest and it does look better in the flesh. I also took the roof runners out and sanded them down and sprayed them and did the same with the aerial base Next up is respray whole rear and delete the tow eye in the bumper :)

Have I missed something? Take it this is a valver? looks nice bud, get some more pics of the interior, is it red leather?

Thought id update my renewal experience. i work in insurance so id consider myself quite clued up with it all and comparison sites aren't an option for me due to age and mods etc so i called the below. All details were based on 5 years ncb, 25 years old, car is on drive, one sp30 in 2006, one last month in 2011. No claims, 5000 miles, car vaue £4000. 1995 VR6 mods are coilovers, wheels, bmc, miltek exhaust and 6 branch Adrian Flux (HIC same company) renewal £652 Renewal hotline (08448888706) reduced this to £500 afer some discussion A-plan i emailed but they never got back to me! Brentacre T 01792 650933 £619 Chris Knott T 08445760660 £1200! Greenlight 01277 263030 (although they dont do new quotes over the phone, you must complete an online form first then discuss on the above number) £428 Footman James (classic policy) 0843 3571908 £480, haggled down to £389! All prices are a one off payment. i needed finance of monthly installments. Greenlight were very helpful but advised that was the best offer. this didnt include NCB protection either. this was an additional £30 Footman James were great, although i would have liked the lower price to begin with but the chap did say call us if i receive anything lower. They also have the lowest apr over a deposit and then 3 installments totalling £399.59 for the year. They also throw in the most extras, breakdown assistance etc, legal and cover in europe and had the lowest xs of £250 a/d, windscreen £50. **BE WARNED ** being a classic policy they dont use your NCB so it doesnt need to be protected which is fine as if i have a fault claim i can't loose it either. BUT as its not in use i dont gain any and after 2/3 years some insurance companies dont accept it. Adrain flux have advised me they will hold my NCB on record for 3 years. if i dont use it on a policy with in this period it gets lost you start again!! so the maximum i can really stay with Footman James is 2 years! Hope this has been helpful. i work in Household claims but if anyone wants any help about insurance let me know :)

Hello mate, did you manage to take some pictures of the rado on lm reps? interested to see the look and where did you get them from if you dont mind me asking :)
-
I live in westbourne, my Mum lives in fawley but wasn't there last week. By any chance are you rolling on splits with a cream leather interior?
-
Gave mine a wash and ag hd wax today :) bought a new twilight violet sunroof panel off vroc and spent ages getting the swirls out with scratch x while watching the f1 today :) then fitted it, mine had a nasty stone ding so this really helps tidy up the roof. Don't use the car daily but I like to clean it once a week, wash/wax then wipe the plastics etc and engine bay :) Rams how much was beads detail, did he do a full machine polish. I'll def look to get it done, probably after back end respray:)
-
oh and the tidy meets at 2pm on sunday mate
-
mine are et 15 also! few pics in my thread running low and wide and quite a bit of camber, some people hate and says it ruins the handling, i say i love it and dont notice a difference in the handling, sure you probably would on the track but with the state of the roads these days the difference is n/a imo :)
-
did you use this guy to detail the car, and did he give you an estimate of £80? im not sure whether to get the rear bumper done first in the body shop then use him, or use him then respray the rear as i have the scrath on the back panel and bumper is a mess? might make more sense to use him after when bodywork is done? as far as engine work goes mate im in no rush, and i agree would be good to acquire bits and do in stages etc but living in a shared house i dont have a garage and cant store stuff in my room? bit of a pain? wold really need to be done all at once?
