Loving this build mate. Great effort with all the pics too! cant wait to see this about town! a new forrest road trip or something shold be on the cars! debating what to do with my engine but it may hold out for quite a while so ill see, but if i decide to buy a lower mileage aaa/abv lump may be in touch with your mechanic to see about fitting? think it would be a straight swap? 8)

It's Not good that mine will start and hit about 1200/1300 then it will just drop and drop then cut out, she's a bit of a dog from cold, but once warm idles bang on and always starts first time an idles lovely after coming back to it after a drive. On first start up tho I'll give it a bit of gas and if I hold my foot it in one place it has surges like I'm blipping the throttle and doesn't respond very accurately to the throttle, So I usually hVe to give it a good blip to about 2500/3k to almost wake it up like after a long sleep? But she's pulls great when warmed up? Tired engine maybe? My old G60 never once fAiled to start or idle. Was a great engine :)

Not getting too drastic but if your took of your auxiliary belt the car would be undriveable and when mine snapped I got towed to where I wanted. Very unlikely the AA man will have a vr6 belt in his truck?

just at work and had a spare minute and stumbled across this on pistonheads. if you follow the link theres plenty to make you envious. at the moment i live in a shared house so dont have a garage but be good to see any forum garges to see where most c's spend their life in constant reapir 8) http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/doc.asp?c=52&i=22743

looks like a lovely base to start with mate, had the sns chip and 68mm pulley on my old G and was the best mod bang for buck, not to bring up the old G60 vs VR6 debate but once you have it chipped/pullied etc then it should be about the same power wise, my old g felt quicker than my Vr but they're 2 completely different driving experiences. G60's quick point to point and lairy :) Vr more refined and good cruiser. id like to see the 10s on the rear, should give a mean stance looking behind 8)

What was the oettinger one then? and an 8v priced more than the campaign! allbeit with less mileage but still. Different class of car!

Memorys pretty hazy but not sure if woody sold it to someone in Brighton, either way when the car left his possession it was near identical to now bar the wheels. he spent a small fortune on having the Audi handles fitted and the interior is a one off re-trim and also has the audioscape pods. He had the whole car resprayed in christhur h, and what with the roof and the bbs' it was sold on in the rolling road pic. I have videos on my pc of it being mapped at ray west tuning making 212bhp with toothed belt kit, Audi intercooler and potted charger etc. I used to see the car all the time as it was just up from my at the time girlfriends, and we drove down to Sussex as I had some work carried out by jmr too on my old g60 who did nearly all the mechanics on this car. I nearly put that up for sale to buy this as it was a bargain when he sold it. I know it was never a write off when he had it so the previous owner must know something? but 4k for a write off is a strong price considering I don't think it sold for much more than that years ago? still lovely looking car tho!!

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15339 front bumper tho looks different, his didnt have the number plate recessed? but apart from that identical! oh and now on lms?
-
isnt that woodys old g60?? looks identical, he had a stg 4 charger, fmic, toothed belt kit, the same smoothed roof and handles. was running 212hp. hes on here and the car was local to dorset. he had it serviced etc at jmr in sussex. iirc he sold it for aspprox £4200? not lost any money then?

viewtopic.php?f=11&t=93976 look in my thread, just put my ml's on so the mille miglia reps are up for sale, 7.5x17 et35 5x100. not made a for sale thread as need to get some better pics and clean them up 8) all with falken 205/40 loads of tread left

So couldn't wait any longer for toyo 205/40s so bought some nankangs. I know they're not the best tyre but didn't want to wait any longer and and dont drive like a lunatic as much, so got the schmidts fitted today wrapped in new 205/40 rubber. had drive round the block and some slight rubbing on bumps. May not be to everyones taste but here's few early pics And front and back Will prob look to get the arches rolled but see how it drives for a little bit first :) oh and fitted a BMC cda last month too...oh the sound!
-
I bought some from the AA last month, as the car is old it was cheaper to cover me as an individual rather than the VR. So it recovers me no matter who or whT car I'm in and ll passengers to my chosen uk destination. On the net was approx 65?? Cheapest I found for that cover :)

Looks very nice, want to do the black roof and had a quote for mine in vinyl black for 140, is yours covered or painted? Just wandering how much it set you back just for a comparison, pm if you prefer or tell me to stop being nosey :)

What are the options? Been offered an R32 2003 3.2
Craig replied to Rams's topic in General Car Chat
Hmm always an option. Moneys not good tho at the mo as I'm in-between moving, not sure of the diagnosis on mine, from what I've read on the search sounds like a shell is loose, but what do I know lol, if I take it to a garage and the labour cost is huge as the job isn't small then I could consider a fresher engine and use that as a base. Would all depend on cost tho as at this moment in time I've a lot on and obviously need to keep costs to a minimum? And if I had a another 2.9 then I would prob not ever go r32, not that's likely to happen anytime soon anyway :) I'd be happy with a supercharged VR Just out of interest what the mileage and condition of your engine? Mines still pulling well and sounds lovely still full throttle, had chains and a £1300 head rebuild approx 20k miles ago but engine is now on 147k? And as I Sadi not had a mechanic actually look at it yet so might not be serious, he hopes :) -
Looking brilliant, what engine was it? My dad has his old mustang 7l v8 laying about in his garage that he keeps promising to rebuild, think this would be better use for it! Oh and I'm more intrigued of how they got the rug on the counter to do a price check :)

I know little about the mechanics but a r32 engine is on my wish list. Then that can be super to turbocharged later for more fun factor. Just out of interest who's your mechanic. I think one of the shells might be going on my VR and can't do it myself, I know John (corozin) mentioned kartechnic in Poole, just thought a few opinions would be good. If it's shagged then I could buy your VR, or solve your problems and you can fit the r32 in mine!! -
I don't know why ppl feel loyal to a particular insurance company. Im guilty of it but I work for a very well known independent company, and although I think they are very good they wouldn't really suit me as I'm a young driver with a high group INS. Car. Insurance companies want low risk middle aged ppl who rarely claim unless they're a specialist company like brentacre. It pays you to shop around and these comparison sights have really thrown it up there with ppl sorting their own ins, I know we pay approx 75 to the comparison sights for every quote they set up for us, so if a customer comes to us well requote with some Internet discount to save paying the comparison sites. I personally would try and not claim unless absolutley neccessary, as even tho you can protect your ncd, it doesnt stop the premium rising, as I hate to say but if someone crashes into you and they admit fault and ALL liability it will still affect your insurance premium, I don't agree with it but I have to comply by it, end of the day if you have incidents, and don't claim your still seen as a higher risk. But if you have an accident these days and said let's not involve the ins. Company ppl would be very dubious and think your trying to hide something like not having cover, but having worked in the game for a few years now ppl have to understand insurance companies always get their money back, or they'd go bust! And they do this by putting premiums up, simples :)
